"I’m so tired."
Nora Scott had just gotten into the car and immediately picked up a cushion to hold in her arms.
Pedro Langley got in right after and closed the door as Nora naturally leaned on him.
His Adam’s apple gently slid up and down.
Images of the school uniform photo Nora had sent earlier flashed unbidden in his mind, causing a shiver to run down his spine.
"Let’s go back."
Pedro’s voice, hoarse and low, directed the driver sitting in front.
The driver, just a tool for the journey, said nothing and drove the car back home.
"Why didn’t you wear the school uniform?" Pedro asked, holding Nora and taking in the fresh scent emanating from her.
"I changed out of it after shooting," Nora replied, then asked, "Have you seen the photo?"
"Yeah."
"How did you—"
Before she could finish, she sensed something, raised her head from his shoulder, and caught a faint whiff of tobacco near his collar and neck.
She squinted her eyes, "Smoking again?"
The arm around her waist tightened, Pedro’s voice turned even huskier, "The wait was unbearable."
"Didn’t I tell you to take a nap?"
Pedro frowned, "After seeing your photo, how could I sleep?"
"..."
Nora was momentarily speechless.
Then, she snapped back to her senses.
She raised an eyebrow with a smirk, "Am I pure or what?"
Seeing her so ’self-aware,’ Pedro was slightly surprised, but thinking about that photo, his heart melted into a puddle, impossibly soft.
Involuntarily, he nodded along with her, "Yeah."
In his thoughts, she wasn’t just ’pure’... she was ’pure yet...’
Nora squinted her eyes and chuckled softly, then added, "The school uniform we wore for the shoot looks way better than the real one."
"Wear it for me."
A sharp gleam flitted through Pedro’s eyes.
"I returned it, though—"
"Do you really think I can’t afford a set of school uniforms?" Pedro looked at her, speechless.
Nora blinked and laughed again, then reached up to poke his cheek with her finger, saying cheerfully, "Sure thing."
Saying so, she moved away from Pedro, reclined the seat, put on an eye mask, hugged the cushion, and lay down.
"I want to nap for a bit."
"Okay."
Pedro responded and then took out a blanket to cover her, tucking it in carefully.
Having done all this, Nora’s hand suddenly moved, reaching out from under the blanket to grasp Pedro’s hand.
Pedro turned his hand to hold hers, glancing sideways to see Nora’s lips curl into a faint smile.
In that instant, his heart felt as sweet as honey.
Holding her hand, feeling the warmth of her body, Pedro finally felt a little grounded.
Every time he recalled his first experience with Nora, it felt like a dream — too wonderful to feel real, like a bubble of fantasy that could burst at any moment.
Whenever he left Nora, this surreal feeling would abruptly reappear.
Only by seeing her in person and feeling her presence could he find some relief.
Like now.
And Nora, likely aware, indulged him without limits.
*
When they returned to Cloudwater Haven, it was around five o’clock.
Nora was fast asleep, carried in by Pedro as usual. He gently removed her makeup, drew the curtains, took a shower, and then lay beside her.
Typically, Nora loved to sleep in and often woke up later than Pedro, but today, since Pedro hadn’t slept all night, he woke up later than Nora.
Upon waking, finding the space beside him empty, Pedro felt a wave of disorientation. He instinctively snapped awake and sat up.
Just then—
The bathroom door opened, and Nora walked out wearing a long shirt, her feet in slippers.
The moment he saw her, his previously anxious heart immediately settled back in place.
"Awake?"
Nora’s voice was touched with a crisp coolness.
"Yeah."
Pedro pulled back the covers.
Just as he spoke, Nora turned on the bedroom light.
Because he had been sleeping, when Nora woke up, she neither opened the curtains nor turned on the lights, using only the light from the bathroom window to take a shower. Now the bedroom was still dim.
The room instantly brightened, and Pedro’s gaze swept over to Nora. His eyes darkened suddenly.
Nora had taken a bath, her skin glowing with a soft blush under the dim light, presenting an unusual allure. Her hair, half-dried, hung loose. Not wanting to wake him, she had only towel-dried it. She had a well-proportioned frame, donned a white long T-shirt that didn’t reach her knees, and her straight, slender legs were fully revealed.
"I’m going back—"
Nora said as she moved to open the door.
Unexpectedly, a hand suddenly reached from behind, wrapping around her waist, pulling her back into a warm embrace from behind.
Nora turned her head to look at him, her hair brushing against his cheek as she asked, bewildered, "What?"
Buried in the crook of her neck, Pedro inhaled the faint, fresh scent left over from her bath and asked, "Had enough sleep?"
"Yeah."
"Then don’t rush off just yet."
Pedro lifted her into his arms, holding her around the waist.
...
Seeing things rapidly disappearing into the nightstand, Nora suddenly felt that not living together might not be a bad idea.
