Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 60: Not Normal
Scarlett Shaw waved her hand decisively.
"The situation has already happened, explanations don’t matter anymore."
Let Ryan Ford think whatever he wants about her, it’s up to him.
She no longer cares.
At any rate, last night she finally saw him clearly—he’s definitely one of those with a major mental illness.
Aaron Carson pressed his lips together.
Scarlett Shaw’s words were certainly not without reason, but the fact is he did trick her.
So after thinking about it, he said, "Regarding the matter you asked me to investigate last time, I’ll keep an eye on it for you."
Scarlett Shaw was surprised.
She hadn’t expected any unexpected gains, so she replied unreservedly, "Alright, thanks."
Aaron Carson: "What’s your mother’s name?"
Scarlett Shaw: "Serena Ford."
Aaron Carson nodded, "If you have time, send me more detailed information about her."
Scarlett Shaw: "Okay, but you have to keep this matter a secret for me."
Aaron Carson: "Don’t worry."
After their conversation, they returned to their respective offices.
At noon, Scarlett Shaw received a message from Yana Yarrow, inviting her out for drinks in the evening. Scarlett glanced at her workload for the day, no need for overtime, and since she was feeling a bit unsettled, she replied that she would go.
When they met in the evening, Yana Yarrow noticed Scarlett’s dark circles, "Scarlett, were you up all night chasing eagles?"
Scarlett Shaw: "Chasing dogs."
Yana Yarrow: "Did you get a dog?"
Scarlett Shaw: "No, I was bitten by a mad dog."
Yana Yarrow suddenly remembered something, and changed the topic, "The last time I called you, why did Julian Ford answer? What’s going on between you two, did you sleep together again?"
Scarlett Shaw was now quite tired of the superficial business with Julian Ford, and didn’t bother to hide it anymore.
She straightforwardly said, "We did sleep together."
Yana Yarrow was dumbfounded, "What’s the situation exactly?"
Scarlett Shaw explained the whole sequence of events briefly, especially focusing on the inhumane behavior of the dog-man the previous night.
Yana Yarrow was still shocked after hearing it, "So, the mad dog is Julian Ford?"
Scarlett Shaw sneered, "Don’t believe me?"
"Of course not, I’m just really surprised."
Yana Yarrow raised her glass to clink it against Scarlett’s.
"You know how great Julian Ford’s reputation is. He’s seen as unapproachable, always strict with himself, highly cultured, and very attentive to Zoe Sutton. This contrast is just too stark."
Yana Yarrow was quite perceptive about gossip in upper-class circles.
But until now, she’d never heard a single negative remark about Julian Ford.
Scarlett Shaw commented, "Golden on the outside, rotten on the inside."
Yana Yarrow thought about it and speculated, "Could it be the influence of his past relationship is too strong, really making Julian Ford suffer from breakup syndrome? With the end of the year approaching, Zoe Sutton’s wedding is just around the corner, it seems Julian Ford can’t contain himself anymore."
Scarlett Shaw recalled the girl at the club with Julian Ford who somewhat resembled Zoe Sutton.
"Maybe."
She answered absent-mindedly.
Yana Yarrow suddenly held her hand, with a particularly grim expression.
Scarlett Shaw: "What’s wrong?"
Yana Yarrow: "Julian Ford is truly no good, but Scarlett, isn’t your reaction a bit too much?"
Scarlett Shaw was taken aback.
"Ryan Ford used to cheat on you numerous times, and I’ve never seen you so angry."
Yana Yarrow looked at her seriously.
"You and Julian Ford don’t even have a lover’s relationship, so why waste so much emotional energy on him?"
A romantic relationship ought to have feelings.
Between Scarlett Shaw and Julian Ford, this feeling will never exist.
Frankly speaking, to Julian Ford, she’s nothing more than a cat he’s keeping for amusement, summoned or dismissed at will.
She was naively hoping to negotiate rights with him.
Even promises made in bed were just on a whim. After all, breaking his word to her doesn’t cost Julian Ford anything, why would he care about what he’d said?
Scarlett Shaw pressed her lips tightly, her eyes dim.
Yana Yarrow felt a pang in her heart, "You haven’t really fallen in, have you?"
Scarlett Shaw didn’t even think, "No."
"Good to hear."
Yana Yarrow squeezed her hand, concerned:
"Ryan Ford’s not much of a person, and while Julian Ford might look like one, he doesn’t seem very intent on being human either now."
"Make sure you don’t let your emotions cloud your judgment, women in such relationships are too easy to fall in."
Yana Yarrow had seen too many similar matters in the circle.
Men are inherently selfish and cold, no matter how well they treat women during the process, when they want out, they can immediately pull up their pants and leave, always prioritizing their own feelings.
Even if they make what looks like sacrifices to outsiders.
But the underlying logic boils down to self-interest.
"I know what I’m doing."
Scarlett Shaw smiled warmly at Yana Yarrow.
A gentle, sincere smile, seemingly unaffected by Julian Ford.
Yana Yarrow felt a bit of sympathy.
She and Scarlett Shaw had been high school classmates, she knew best how difficult Scarlett’s years had been.
Even so, apart from the period when things first went wrong at home and Scarlett Shaw fell into depression, most other times she managed to seem as she always did, treating everyone around her warmly and genuinely.
Ryan Ford had already hurt Scarlett Shaw.
Yana Yarrow truly hoped not to see Julian Ford, Ryan’s brother, hurt Scarlett Shaw again.
"Honestly, listening to what you said earlier, I suddenly feel Julian Ford’s possessive control seems a bit terrifying?"
Yana Yarrow remarked.
"Making you stand in the cold for two hours—wasn’t the cause of this issue too trivial? Why would he dictate where you go, even if you did lie at that moment, what does it have to do with him?"
"Even real couples have their privacy, you slept with him, do you have to report the taste of your morning poop too?"
Scarlett Shaw chuckled and pinched her nose, "Your words have quite the flavor."
"Crude but true." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Scarlett Shaw nodded in agreement, "It does make sense indeed."
She also felt Julian Ford had made a mountain out of a molehill.
How could he be so petty?
"Just look at Ryan Ford’s devil-may-care attitude, I heard he checked into a hotel with some actress recently. Yet, he still talks about liking you and not letting go—it’s pure madness, isn’t it?"
"Julian Ford is his brother, he can’t be all that normal either."
"And—"
With the posture of a psychology expert, Yana Yarrow spoke with authority.
Scarlett Shaw nudged her, "Hurry up and say it, don’t keep me in suspense."
Yana Yarrow lowered her voice, "I can tell you, but this is purely hearsay with no basis. After you hear it, forget it quickly, as if you never did."
Scarlett Shaw nodded vigorously, "Uh-huh, I will, go ahead."
"Julian Ford and Ryan Ford’s mother, Freya Pierce—known as Mrs. Ford—I’ve heard her mental state is not quite right."
Scarlett Shaw was slightly taken aback.
A fleeting thought came to her, of Julian Ford’s inexplicable injuries.
She asked, "How abnormal?"
