Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Out of Your Mind

Scarlett Shaw’s breathing stalled.

She remained silent.

Considering the unprincipled agreement she’d reached with Aaron Carson, she indeed had deceived Julian Ford.

But previously, her business at the Cloud Mansion had gone smoothly, yet now he accused her of deception.

Could it be that Aaron Carson’s side had slipped, leading to Julian Ford discovering the truth?

Scarlett Shaw pondered silently and deeply.

Her silence was taken by Julian Ford as tacit agreement.

"It seems the cold wind tonight hasn’t cleared your head. Will you only learn your lesson if something happens to your grandmother?"

"..."

The cold wind seeped into Scarlett Shaw’s body.

She shivered, lips pale.

Julian Ford patted her cheek with one hand, "My patience and tolerance have limits. Dare to deceive me again, and you know the consequences better than I."

Scarlett Shaw tightened her lips.

When Julian Ford’s hand fell to her waist and moved downward, she said coldly:

"Besides threatening me with the person I care about the most, Julian Ford, do you have any other tricks?"

"No wonder Zoe Sutton dumped you; you really don’t deserve to be loved."

"Taking advantage of what others hold dear, being temperamental, disrespecting people, someday, you’ll face your retribution."

Her once gentle and obedient eyes now held hate as she glared at him.

Scarlett Shaw’s eyes were the most vivid and expressive.

When she liked someone, the admiration and attachment she showed, without any concealment, was always intense and passionate enough to make the other person proud and indulged.

Just like her past with Ryan Ford.

But now, that furious hatred was just as deep.

Sharp and relentless, like a cat showing its claws, filled with hostility.

Such a gaze reflected in the depths of her eyes the image of Julian Ford.

The hand at her waist tightened.

Scarlett Shaw was pressed against the car door by Julian Ford in the bitterly cold early morning air.

He reached his fingers under her hem.

Julian Ford’s fingertips were icy, mingling with the cold wind that swept inside as her clothes were lifted.

Scarlett Shaw trembled, her pale pink lips quivering endlessly, her eyes misted with moisture.

She was simply too cold.

"Julian Ford."

Scarlett Shaw’s teeth chattered, speaking through gritted teeth.

"Do you have brain damage?"

The hand resting on her slender waistline paused, as Julian Ford’s other hand forcibly turned Scarlett Shaw’s chin, making her face him.

The man’s lips curved dangerously upward, "Rather clever, go on, what’s wrong with my brain? If you guess right, I’ll let you off."

Scarlett Shaw’s nails dug into her flesh, "Lunatic."

"Hmm."

When Julian Ford’s hand explored upwards, he lowered his gaze, fully observing the suppressed pain on Scarlett Shaw’s face.

He paused, changed his strategy, wrapped his arm around her waist, and lifted her horizontally, heading towards the apartment building.

For the first time, Scarlett Shaw felt that dealing with Julian Ford was truly a drawn-out and painful process.

Not even for a second did Julian Ford consider her feelings; even until the end, the man remained impeccably dressed, sophisticated, and cold as an emotionless machine.

While she was stripped bare.

Curling into a ball on the sofa in her air-conditioned home, shivering.

In stark contrast to their usual post-encounter tenderness.

Julian Ford didn’t wash her personally, not even a warm blanket to cover her with.

The man wore an elegant light-colored coat, walked straight out the door without looking back.

Scarlett Shaw shrank on the sofa.

After a while, she got up to shower upstairs, checked the time, only three hours until work.

She took a brief rest for an hour, applied light makeup, and went out.

When Aaron Carson ran into Scarlett Shaw in the company’s elevator lobby, there were only the two of them. He suddenly recalled what Julian Ford had asked him yesterday and mentioned it to Scarlett Shaw.

Scarlett Shaw paused at his words, "Did you tell Julian Ford that after leaving the supermarket with you, I went my separate way?"

"Yes."

Aaron Carson nodded.

"I wouldn’t dare tell the truth; that would be a death sentence."

Scarlett Shaw looked at him with a cold gaze.

"You surely didn’t sentence yourself; you sent me into hell."

Aaron Carson froze, "What?"

Scarlett Shaw: "After leaving your place that day, I ran into Julian Ford. I told him I just had a meal at your house."

The case was solved.

Statements didn’t match, so Julian Ford naturally believed she was lying to him.

Scarlett Shaw rubbed her brow, physically and mentally exhausted.

Such a trivial matter, yet that bastard held such a grudge.

He truly has brain damage.

Aaron Carson’s expression also turned dark, "President Ford indeed despises being lied to. Previously, a partner tried to be clever, but when President Ford found out, he immediately cut off all investments and blacklisted them, never cooperating again."

"You know, offending Veridian, in this industry, you basically can’t survive."

The elevator doors opened at this moment, and the two walked in.

Scarlett Shaw glanced at Aaron Carson, "In the matter of dinner, who actually deceived Julian Ford? Me or you?"

Aaron Carson: "..."

Done for.

He’s truly become the culprit.

Seeing Aaron Carson’s pale face, Scarlett Shaw sighed and said, "Rhonda, you’re a clever person too. How could you be so muddle-headed at a time like this?"

Aaron Carson’s heart was filled with bitterness, "My worst mistake was agreeing to be your ’partner’."

Something irreversible.

Something about shooting yourself in the foot.

Now he truly understood it all.

"I’ve told you, you don’t need to feel pressured. My real goal with this whole thing is just to deal with Ryan’s side, nothing else."

Scarlett Shaw patiently explained.

"Even if Julian Ford finds out, if anyone faces punishment, wouldn’t it be me?"

"Look at yesterday, did he doubt your words even for a second? He directly accused me of lying, and the way he interrogated me was as if I’d committed a crime worthy of a life sentence."

Aaron Carson: "President Ford didn’t do anything to you, did he?"

Scarlett Shaw: "He deliberately exposed me to the cold wind for two hours until I practically turned into a popsicle."

Aaron Carson: "..."

Scarlett Shaw let out a wry laugh, "Want to hear something even more exciting?"

Although Aaron Carson was uneasy, his curiosity was ever burning.

"What else?"

Scarlett Shaw recounted what happened at the club last night.

Aaron Carson listened, his jaw dropping, "Daring to throw juice at President Ford, you really don’t value your life anymore."

Scarlett Shaw: "He stopped being human first, so I didn’t hold back."

Aaron Carson: "..."

He suddenly realized that the person in front of him probably wasn’t one to be trifled with either.

Scarlett Shaw at this moment appeared as if nothing had happened, speaking of last night’s events with a joking tone.

Yet Aaron Carson was meticulous enough to notice the red bloodshot veins in her eyes and the panda-level dark circles, finally realizing and saying:

"Should I just go explain to President Ford?"

Scarlett Shaw chuckled twice, "What boss would ever admit to being wrong?"

Aaron Carson fell silent.

Indeed, none would.

"Besides, if you explain afterward, Julian Ford will certainly ask you why you lied then."

"Ultimately, if the truth comes out, I’d still be the one suffering."
