Chapter 446: Chapter 424: Longing for My Beloved

The flight had a layover in Vondelburg, and when they reached Valois, it was just seven in the evening, and the sky was already dark.

Valois in November is quite cold, with the temperature around two or three degrees. Sienna Thornton tightened her coat and scarf, got off the plane, and went to collect her luggage with her colleagues.

Her colleagues were discussing where to have dinner, but she was a bit distracted, recalling how she came to Alpenberg with Simon Forrester last year, around the same time of year.

The colleagues gathered in small groups, occasionally engaging her in conversation, but the warmth and closeness were different from when she traveled with Simon Forrester.

Sienna chuckled at herself, thinking that falling ill had made her clingy.

.

They arrived at the hotel, checked in, and entered the room, and it was not even eight.

The colleagues wanted to eat dinner at a nearby restaurant and have a drink, but Sienna had a cold and planned to rehearse the first round of negotiations for the next day, so she stayed in the room instead of going out.

After her bath, she called the hotel to order dinner delivery, planning to call Simon Forrester, but suddenly remembered that it was two in the morning back home, and he was likely asleep.

She switched to sending Simon a message instead, not only to tell him she was safe but also to express her longing. Then she just held her phone in a daze, not feeling like dealing with the documents spread out on the table.

It was a long, endless night, filled with longing for her lover.

.

As Sienna was in her daze, the doorbell rang with her dinner delivery.

She snapped back, quickly jumped off the chair, and hurried to the door in her slippers.

When she saw the man outside, she felt like she was dreaming.

Simon Forrester stood there at the door.

He wore a dark cashmere coat, through which the dark gray tie, the same one he wore when he saw her off at the airport, was visible.

She thought she was mistaken, rubbed her eyes, yet it was still Simon Forrester.

"No way!"

She reached out her index finger and poked the man’s chest outside.

It was solid!

She jumped onto Simon Forrester, surprised and delighted, and asked, "How did you get here?"

With one hand supporting her and the other pulling the luggage inside, he kicked the door shut.

He then held her in both arms, tilted his head, and kissed her pouted lips, smiling, "Didn’t you just send me a message saying you missed me? As soon as I got it, I teleported right over."

Sienna burst into laughter, cradled his face in her hands, and kissed him deeply.

He retreated with her and sat down on the end of the bed, still holding her, his cheek brushing against hers for a moment before he exhaled, "No fever."

"I’ve been taking my meds on time, very obediently. You should reward me."

He laughed, earnestly looking into her lovely eyes, and asked, "What reward do you want?"

She covered her mouth and giggled, "I haven’t thought of it yet. I’ll tell you when I do."

He guessed that she wanted immunity for any future mischievous antics. Knowing her antics could never outsmart him, he readily agreed.

Thrilled as a child who had secured candy, she jumped off his lap, flashed a V sign, and cheered, "Yay!"

Seeing her so happy, his mood lightened as well. He stood up, removed his coat and suit jacket, and asked with a smile, "Have you eaten?"

Sienna, still beaming, replied, "No, but I’ve ordered hotel dinner! What about you?"

"I haven’t either..."

Before he finished speaking, she pounced on him again, laughing, "Go take a shower; I’ll order another dinner for you. Let’s eat in the room; it’s cold and dark outside, no need to go out."

She echoed exactly what he wished for.

Traveling all the way from home to Valois, he longed for the warmth of home with his wife.

Well, although they didn’t have children yet, cuddling with his wife under the covers on such a cold winter night was very fulfilling.

With his pajamas, he went to the bathroom while she called to add one more dinner, asking the hotel to deliver both together.

.

After a while, Simon Forrester emerged from the shower, with all the lights in the room off except for the dim glow of two candles.

Sienna wore a pure cotton long nightgown, her long black hair draped behind her, sitting on the sofa with two servings of steak and snacks on the round table in front of her.

Simon walked over while drying his hair, sat across from her, gazed at her seriously for a moment, and asked, "We haven’t had a candlelight dinner before, right?"

"No."

She rested her chin on her hand, her lips curving into a pleasant arc, her eyes gentle, and her gaze reflected the soft water-like candlelight.

"Have you had a candlelight dinner with someone else before?"

She shook her head, still gazing at him with sparkling eyes.

Simon surveyed the well-designed room, smiling, "Having our life’s first candlelight dinner here isn’t bad."

She nodded, still smiling at him.

With a thicker skin, he didn’t feel the slightest bit embarrassed being looked at like that; instead, he asked narcissistically, "Do you think I look especially handsome in candlelight?"

She laughed again, nodding, as her curved lips softly uttered, "You’re the most handsome man I’ve ever seen."

He chuckled heartily, picking up the dinner knife, "It’s late. Let’s eat and chat. You still need to take your medicine later."

Hearing this, she tucked away her lovestruck smile, picked up her knife, and while slicing the beef, playfully complained, "In such a romantic setting, where I’m gazing dreamily at you, any other man would’ve lost it. You’re still focused on my medicine; you don’t seem like a boyfriend but rather like a dad."

"A man who plays with you won’t care about your health," he cut a piece of beef and placed it on her plate, "but a man who wants to be with you for life will care about your health like family."

After saying this, he picked up the orange juice beside him, took a sip, and immediately moved the almost untouched glass to her side, "This orange juice is freshly squeezed, drink more; it’s good for colds."

He expressed both verbally and physically that as her man, he genuinely cared.

She really appreciated it and no longer complained about his self-control.

Eating the beef he sliced for her, she was about to ask how he got there but then remembered Gavin Gale who showed up at the design institute in the morning, and she understood.

He arrived half an hour after her at the hotel, likely taking the 12:30 flight after hers, and as he purposely kept it a secret and didn’t carry luggage in the morning leaving together, he must have had Gavin pick it up from the dorm and bring it to the airport for him.

He truly put in a lot of effort.

Being in a foreign land, and feeling lonely, made emotions more vivid. Sienna had been thinking about Simon the whole journey to Valois, and now that he really appeared before her, she couldn’t have been happier, even slightly losing herself.

She put down the knife and fork, wiped her lips with a napkin, and got up to move toward him.

Understanding her intention, he also put down his utensils, looked up at her for a while, and then extended an arm to pull her into his embrace...
