Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 444 - 422: Sienna Thornton Falls Ill
Sienna Thornton had worked over 12 hours that day. If Simon Forrester hadn’t brought desserts over in the evening, allowing her a bit of time to enjoy some treats and chat with him, she’d likely have spent the entire day working.
She usually didn’t exercise much, and with such high-intensity work, her body was bound to collapse. How could he convince her to put work aside and rest early?
Simon Forrester dried his hair, his mind wandering aimlessly, while his eyes occasionally fell on Sienna, who was sitting by his side.
The room was heated to a cozy temperature. Sienna wore a pink and goose yellow striped V-neck nightdress, her legs tucked close in front of her with documents resting on them.
Simon dried his hair thoroughly, slung the towel over his shoulder, and leaned over to look at her documents, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Hm?" Sienna scribbled notes on the pages, the blue pen moving elegantly under her slender fingers, "Not really."
"I’m pretty good at English."
Sienna continued writing her notes, shaking her head with a laugh, "It’s not about how good your English is. There are a lot of technical terms. Just like if you wanted me to review a proposal from your international client, I wouldn’t be able to do it."
"Alright then. Just accompany me."
He took the towel back to the bathroom, and after a while, returned with his laptop, sitting next to Sienna. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
He focused intently on the various reports on his computer, his right hand sliding up and down the touchpad, his left hand resting against his lips, serious and absorbed.
After reviewing a few pages of reports, her brain relaxed for a brief minute or two. Suddenly, she remembered how Simon usually urged her to rest around this time. Tonight, he had been sticking by her side, looking like he had something to say but stopped before saying it. Realizing this, she picked up her phone by her leg to check the time, glanced at the next day’s work schedule, and after some consideration, put the documents in her hand away.
However, he was so engrossed that he didn’t notice her movements. She went to the bathroom to wash her hands and came back to find him still intently staring at the computer screen.
She sat at the foot of the bed, placing her hands at her sides, nudging his foot with hers.
He snapped back to reality, his gaze shifting from the screen to her. Seeing the mischievous gleam in her eyes, he swiftly shut his laptop and pulled her into his arms.

For almost a month, Sienna worked overtime day and night, even on weekends.
Every day, she had to come up with various plans for her cases and review a ton of reports and materials. Understandably, the workload and pressure were immense. That’s why every evening after work, as she walked home with Simon Forrester, their conversations and laughter along the way significantly eased the work-related stress.
Two weeks passed, and in mid-October, the nighttime temperatures in Brimfield dropped below ten degrees. It was so cold that Simon worried Sienna would catch a cold and suggested driving her, but she refused. Instead, he started bringing a bag every evening, filled with a hat, gloves, and a scarf, and when he saw her come down, he would wrap her in the scarf immediately.
Some of Sienna’s subordinates saw this and envied her for having such a tall, handsome, and considerate boyfriend.
Sienna had grown accustomed to Simon’s care but still felt deeply touched, declaring that although this year had been tough, it was also the happiest she’d ever been.
On November 6th, with two days left until Sienna’s trip to Valois, a cold snap hit, making the day colder than usual. Sienna returned to her dorm, started sneezing and had a runny nose, and by midnight, felt bone-chillingly cold.
Unaware, it was Simon Forrester, who was sleeping with her, who noticed. He placed his hand on her forehead, the burning temperature almost scorching his palm.
He hurriedly got out of bed to find the medicine box, only to discover there was no thermometer, and the fever patches and fever medicine were all used up.
He quickly soaked a towel in ice, changed into clothes, poured some warm water, helped Sienna drink it, then placed the ice-cold towel on her forehead before rushing downstairs to drive to the nearest 24-hour pharmacy to buy medicine.
Returning with the medicine, he didn’t even have time to take off his jacket before checking her forehead again with his hand, whispering gently, "You’re even hotter than before."
He used the forehead thermometer on her, looked at the reading, and his expression changed, "Thirty-nine point nine."
He wiped her face with the towel that still had some coldness left, contemplating whether to have her take medication first or go directly to the hospital.
"Should we go to the hospital?" he asked softly.
She mumbled in confusion with the fever, not answering.
Seeing her like this, he felt a sharp pang of distress in his heart, and after considering it for a moment, went to the wardrobe to fetch the heaviest down jacket from Sienna’s closet.
Just as he was about to help her up, he heard her weak voice say, "No hospital... medication is enough."
"Please, listen." Despite his urgency, he spoke softly and gently, helping Sienna put on the coat.
Sienna, however, resisted, shrinking back into bed. She furrowed her brows, struggling to open her eyes, murmuring incoherently, "Give me the medicine first... if it doesn’t work, then go to the hospital... "
Out of options, he quickly opened the bag, took out the fever medicine, and helped her take it with warm water.
He stayed by her bedside for a while, repeatedly checking her temperature with the forehead thermometer, frequently going in and out of the bathroom, cooling her body with a warm towel to bring down the fever.
After a long bout of care, he realized he hadn’t taken off his jacket, and with the room heated, he was sweaty all over.
Afraid he might get sick too and leave Sienna uncared for, he took a hot shower, changed into clean pajamas, and upon coming out, found Sienna leaning over the bed, vomiting violently, expelling a pool of pale yellow liquid.
His heart skipped a beat, filled with dull pain, and he rushed over to pat her back, helping her purge thoroughly.
With each sound of retching, his heart twisted painfully, tears nearly falling.
In almost three years together, he had never seen her like this. Her usual health made him almost forget she could get sick too.
She finally stopped after awhile, and he quickly grabbed some tissues to clean her up, helping her back onto the bed.
She was weak and faint, with a slight smile at the corners of her lips, as if having survived a grueling battle, "I feel so much better after throwing up..."
He glanced at the yellow liquid on the floor and then at the time on his phone, "The medicine was taken less than half an hour ago, probably all vomited out. It needs to be retaken."
With her eyes closed, she waved him off, even though she was so feverish she lacked energy, she still protested against the medicine, "I’m not on good terms with this one. It makes me nauseous, and retching is just too hard to bear. I’m not taking it anymore..."
"How will the fever go down without medication?" Simon Forrester rummaged through the bag of medicines, "How about a different brand? I bought several kinds..."
While searching, he suddenly fell silent. A few seconds later, he looked up at Sienna, "There’s a rectal fever suppository. This won’t make you vomit. Do you want to try it?"
"... What?"
He reached out again, checking her forehead, with no sign of the fever breaking. Clenching his teeth, he climbed onto the bed, helping her turn over with soothing words, "Don’t worry, it won’t hurt."
