Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Don’t Tell Me Sebastian Forrest Likes Men?

It wasn’t until Sebastian Forrest got closer that I realized how alarming he looked. A gash had been cut into his arm by some sharp object. Although the wound had already scabbed over, the blood had stained nearly half his sleeve red.

"Senior Forrest, are... are you all right?"

However, Sebastian Forrest seemed not to have heard me. His eyes swept over me from head to toe. It took a long moment before I noticed his tense body slowly begin to relax.

"Master Forrest!"

Just then, a casual voice drifted over. "Why didn’t you answer your phone?"

Dr. Jude Miller was standing at the hospital entrance, walking toward us with a frown. "I was about to call and tell you your comrade is fine, but you just had to go and not pick up..."

"Comrade?" Chloe blinked, a look of complete confusion on her face.

"Yeah." Jude Miller raised a hand to the bridge of his nose. "His comrade had a sudden emergency. I had just hung up with him when he came rushing over... Later, when we found out everything was fine, I tried to call him to let him know, but this big shot here decided not to answer his phone."

Sebastian Forrest pressed his lips together, his voice low. "I left in a hurry and dropped my phone."

Jude Miller raised an eyebrow. "And your arm?"

Sebastian Forrest glanced at his arm, his voice faint. "Something scraped it. I don’t know what."

Jude Miller shot him a thumbs-up.

Chloe and I listened from the side, completely befuddled. We didn’t know what had happened, but we could tell that this ’comrade’ must be very important to Sebastian Forrest. Otherwise, the eternally calm and composed man would never have lost his cool like that.

"Is your wound okay? Do you want me to have a nurse clean it up for you?"

Sebastian Forrest nonchalantly glanced at the wound. "No need."

I thought Sebastian Forrest would go with Jude Miller to visit his comrade. But to my surprise, as soon as he heard the man was fine, he just left, leaving Chloe and me utterly confused.

I had no idea what he was playing at.

"Master Forrest was a little strange today," Chloe couldn’t help but analyze on the way back. "If you say he doesn’t care about that comrade, well, his frantic state wasn’t an act. But if you say he does care, he left without even a single glance..."

I nodded along. "It is strange, indeed."

Chloe suddenly seemed to think of something, flashing me a grin that revealed two rows of perfect white teeth. "You don’t think that comrade is Master Forrest’s lover, do you?"

"..."

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Don’t be ridiculous..."

But Chloe looked as if she’d discovered a new continent, her face lit with excitement. "I’ve never seen any women around him, but he’s never short on male company..."

"That would make perfect sense!" Chloe grew more and more excited. "Master Forrest is probably into men."

"..."

But she quickly changed the subject. "Wait, but doesn’t Master Forrest like you? Then he can’t be gay. Could he be bi?"

"Chloe..." I really couldn’t keep up with Chloe’s wild imagination.

Chloe grinned at me. "So? Feeling a little better?"

I finally realized she was just trying to cheer me up.

"I’m fine," I said, smiling at Chloe. "Actually, I don’t want to lose this baby either."

They say a mother’s heart is connected to her child’s.

’Even though he’s only been in my belly for a little over a month, I’ve already formed a bond with him...’

’How could I possibly give that up?’

While we were stopped at a red light, Chloe reached out and touched my belly. "Don’t you worry, little one. Godmommy is going to help take good care of your mommy. You be good now, okay?"

I smiled and finally let out a long, relieved sigh.

’No matter what, I’m going to have this baby.’

’Not now, not ever, will I regret it.’

...

Maybe because I was further along in my pregnancy, I’d become particularly prone to fatigue and drowsiness.

In the short time it took to get home from the hospital, I’d fallen asleep without realizing it. I didn’t groggily open my eyes until Chloe called my name.

"You must be tired. Go on home and get some proper rest."

"Yeah," I nodded.

I had taken the whole day off work to file the divorce papers.

Since I’d only used up half the day, the other half was perfect for sleeping.

After seeing Chloe off, I went straight upstairs.

Just as I was about to open my door, the door to the apartment across the hall suddenly swung open.

"Senior Forrest? You..."

I was wondering why Sebastian Forrest was home at this hour when my gaze involuntarily fell on the wound on his arm.

"You haven’t put anything on that wound?" I frowned slightly, concerned. "It’ll get infected if bacteria gets in."

But Sebastian Forrest seemed completely unconcerned, glancing down at it. "It’s fine. Just a scratch."

I couldn’t just stand by and watch. Remembering I still had some of the medical supplies Sebastian Forrest had bought for me, I said, "Wait here a second. I’ll go get my first-aid kit to clean that up for you."

I expected him to be impatient, but to my surprise, he was still waiting by his door when I returned with the first-aid kit.

"Then I’ll have to trouble you, Junior." Sebastian Forrest’s lips curved into a slight smile as he gestured with his chin toward the room behind him. "You don’t mind doing it at my place, do you?"

"Okay."

I had assumed the two apartments across the hall would have similar layouts. But when I stepped inside, I discovered Sebastian Forrest’s place was much larger than mine.

Moreover, the living room featured an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling glass that overlooked a massive wetland park. In the distance, you could even see the iconic landmark of Kington’s tallest skyscraper.

The view in every direction was spectacular, like being in the clouds.

As I sat on the living room sofa and looked around, I was overcome with a dreamlike sense of unreality.

I knew this apartment complex was in a wealthy neighborhood, and I’d already considered my own apartment, at over two thousand square feet, to be plenty extravagant. I never imagined Sebastian Forrest’s place would be even more so.

"Have some water."

Just then, Sebastian Forrest poured a glass of water and set it in front of me.

I quickly thanked him. Seeing him sit down on the sofa next to me, I pursed my lips. "Shall I start?"

Sebastian Forrest rolled up his sleeve, revealing a firm, muscular arm and the wound on it. Then he simply turned his head to the side and watched me.

I quickly took a disinfectant cotton swab from the first-aid kit, dipped it in iodine, and began to clean the wound on his arm.

"So, you finished filing the divorce papers at the courthouse this morning?"

I instinctively looked up, my eyes meeting his, which were as dark as ink. I quickly looked away and nodded. "Yes, it’s all filed. If Theodore Grant doesn’t withdraw the application within the next month, the divorce will be final."

Sebastian Forrest gave a barely perceptible nod, a soft, lingering laugh humming from his throat. It held a lazy, casual air, yet his voice carried a seductive undertone. "Well then, in that case... isn’t it about time you repaid me?"
