Chapter 711: On Your Side (Ch.712)

So close... just a few steps further....’

’I was that close...’

This was the devastating thought that repeatedly played in Neveah’s mind as she was dragged carelessly across the forest ground by Lado’s cruel grip,

The shrubs, sharp rocks and broken branches that littered the forest floor cut into her skin and ripped at her light clothing, revealing even more skin to be bruised and cut.

And her blood left a trail from the small patch on the surface of the lake where Lado had first gotten hold of her before she could cross the waterfall to the lake,

And the trail led all the way to the edge of the lake and now through the forest, increasing as they went.

Neveah could feel herself quickly losing blood, not from the cuts but from the point at her ankle where Lado’s claws had dug deeply into her flesh, dragging her back to the Eclipse Palace, his claws digging in deeper the tighter he held.

The waterfall grew smaller and smaller in Neveah’s view as she was pulled further and further away from it and though Neveah struggled fiercely, digging her nails into the earth until they came off and bled, it only led to Lado’s hold growing even tighter and his tugging grew harsher.

Black spots danced across her vision but Neveah resisted the darkness and the strong urge to give into it. She could not afford to lose consciousness, Neveah just knew it.

"The Alpha King is dead! No one is allowed out of palace grounds! And you are trying to escape?! Do you think you are now free to do as you like with everyone occupied with the power tussle?! Not on my watch!" Lado cackled evilly.

Lado... Lothaire’s dog, literally so. If Neveah thought beyond her immediate, supposed family, he was the one who had done her the most harm in both lifetimes.

The plot of this reality was exact and accurate, everyone acted their path just right, true to their original selves, save for the one anomaly...Alessio.

"Lothaire should have taken his dog along with him in death. Now it’s gone wild..." Neveah hissed, her tone thick with wrath and disdain.

Of course, Lado heard her words and he was not at all pleased. He stopped, turning so he stared down at Neveah and in the process, his claws twisted, excruciating pain radiating through Neveah’s already battered leg.

"Still mouthy?! We will see how long you can keep that up! The Alpha King would never let me touch you, something about a high and worthy price, the likes of me could never afford it..."

"But you see, now that he is gone...no one would even wonder what happened..."

"No one would wonder if the unwanted princess was drowned in the lake...or fucked to her death..." Lado cackled evilly, his words attesting to the depravity of his mind.

Whatever Lothaire had touched, he had left with marks of him, his traits...it was horrifying how Neveah had once thought this depravity was normal,

But she knew better now... she had come to know a people, a race...a King, that even with all their flaws, they were nothing like this.

"I’d like to see you try laying those diseased hands on me! See how you lose them!" Neveah spat, a shudder of disgust rushing through her at the mere thought of being touched by Lado.

"How about now?" Lado asked, reaching a free hand out to grab Neveah’s chin in a crushing hold.

"There... I’ve done it. Who’s going to take my hands away, Omega?" Lado asked Neveah with a grin.

He was taunting her, making it clear to her that no one would come to save her. But reality or not, Neveah would rather die than be touched by Lado.

Neveah dug deep within, to summon the strength and ferocity that was always right at her fingertips, to summon the predator that had always been right by her side, answering to her every call...but it was to no avail.

Her wolf was gone in this reality... and she was truly human, just as the Eclipse wolves always believed her to be.

In the next moment, Lado let out an ear piercing howl of pain and Neveah watched as the hand on her chin went loose and thumped down to the ground, roughly severed from the elbow where all Lado now had was a furiously bleeding stump and ugly, jagged flesh.

Neveah lifted a dreading gaze, not surprised to find Alessio stared down at Lado, his gaze furrowed in displeasure.

Again, Neveah did not know where he had come out from, neither had she sensed his approach. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"Had he been there all along? Watching?’ Neveah wondered.

"I will." Alessio replied to Lado’s question.

"P... Prince Royal..." Lado stuttered out, his eyes wide with fear.

"I killed my own father and I got away with it. Do you want to test how much more or less your life is worth?" Alessio asked, his tone dark and deadly.

He crouched down, taking hold of Lado’s other hand, he ripped out the claws dug into Neveah’s ankle,

Neveah let out a pained hiss and Alessio passed Neveah an apologetic look, with underlying pain reflected in his eyes.

Lado once again released a howl of pain and the sound of his bones crushing in Alessio’s tight hold was loud and clear even to Neveah’s hearing.

"Apologize." Alessio demanded of Lado.

"Forgive me! Forgive me, Omega!" Lado cried out and only then did Alessio let go.

"Leave, head to the dungeons and stay there until I say otherwise." Alessio ordered Lado.

Lado quickly scurried off, clutching his bleeding stump and Neveah was once again left with Alessio.

Her eyes sought out the injury she had inflicted on him, but it was nowhere to be seen. He had even changed his clothing, having the time for such luxuries when each minute was life and death for Neveah.

"You see?...In this world, there is only me on your side. Without me, everyone will keep hurting you..." Alessio stated.
