Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 704: Red Lightning ()
Neveah glanced up, sensing the changes approaching before they happened.
A flash of red lightning tore through the sky, followed by an earthshaking rumble of thunder, dark clouds swiftly gathered overhead, killing the sunlight and casting the mountain into increasing darkness.
An atmosphere that supported the most potent expression of dark magic, moreso than sunlight.
"Where?" Neveah questioned her wolf, watching between the phenomenon in the sky and the gathering mass of shadows up ahead.
The dark sorcerer had been prepared to deal damage today, and for whatever reason, Xenon’s precious mountain was his choice location.
Neveah steeled her heart in the sight of the destruction happening all around as red lightning struck furiously down to the Earth.
"East." Neveah’s wolf provided the coordinates. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
East meant just one thing, as Neveah had expected, Zephyr was in the complete opposite direction of where the message had guided her.
Perhaps he had never reached their hands at all.
It was clear this had always been meant to be a trap and both Zephyr and Celeste were merely instruments used for that same purpose.
Neveah had not expected there would be any sincerity to this bargain in the first place, she had come prepared for this deceit.
The mass of shadows still gathered swiftly, Neveah was not certain if it was merely an illusion or it would form the silhouette of a person, but she did not think there was cause to wait around and find out.
Whilst a dark storm raged, the red veins causing the rapid collapse of rocks had also begun forming cracks on the floor of the mountain range, there would be a collapse beneath them anytime soon.
"Back up..." Neveah said to Celeste warily, her gaze fixed intently on the mass of shadows which had now partly formed a cloaked man, with a sinister soulless gaze fixed on her, orbs purely white with nary a pupil in sight.
Neveah had encountered quite a few dark sorcerers since arriving at the Asvarian stronghold, even the infamous Lord of the Black Network, Azkar.
Yet never had any aura unsettled Neveah quite like this...not even Celeste’s, not even once.
Neveah retreated a few more steps back as that gaze settled on her. The form of the man was still incomplete, from his waist below was still a swirling mass of reddish black shadows, yet the half of him was already sufficiently terrifying.
"You are too slow, princess. I could wait no longer. The entire mountain, including the skies above are tainted with my magic...it is just you and I now." The cloaked sorcerer spoke to Neveah.
The path they had taken to get up to this point had already been blocked by the crumble and if anything else looked like an illusion, the effect of that attack and the damage it did to the mountain was certainly real and the strange, reddish lines just kept on spreading.
Neveah’s hands were stretched out slightly to the side, shielding Celeste on instinct, but she sensed it the very moment Celeste lunged.
Neveah gritted her teeth against the sharp pain that spread through her skull as Celeste violently pulled her hair backwards,
The silver chains swung over Neveah’s head in a swift motion and Neveah was quick to halt the approach with her hand, being the only line of separation between the silver coated chains and her neck.
"Die!" Celeste hissed, pulling violently.
Neveah could tell despite her attempt to hide her injury and prevent Celeste from getting any ideas, Celeste had noticed that the chains could deal harm to Neveah and she intended to make use of it.
Foolish enough to still believe that her life mattered in this equation, or would matter if she could kill Neveah.
A furious torrent of flames rained down from above, brightening the pitch darkness that had dawned, right over the dark sorcerer and though he swiftly built an energy shield to protect himself, he was prevented from making any further attacks whilst Neveah was preoccupied by Celeste.
Neveah’s gaze met the large dragon orbs of the Argentine scaled dragon as he swooped down, massive claws slamming down to the Earth where the dark sorcerer had stood.
His silvery wings glinted despite the darkness, his flames and the red lightning reflecting off of it to create a deathly beautiful myriad of colors.
He was a force to be reckoned with and he had just broken right through whatever seal the dark sorcerer had just placed on the skies before it was fully formed, but it had left its mark on him, the red lightning was a trap in the skies, and Neveah could see the bruises lining the mass of the Argentine dragon, fresh and bleeding...he had been hit and would most likely be hit again if he maintained his flight.
Perhaps he was not the only one who had been harmed, Neveah could not see beyond the layer of black clouds.
Yet Neveah knew there was nothing that could prevent the Argentine Scaled dragon from coming for his son.
Neveah could read the message in Imagor’s eyes, the mountain had been sealed off by dark magic, there were only two of them with Creator knew how many enemies, which meant one thing... Zephyr was in her hands.
The silver burned mercilessly into Neveah’s palm, but Neveah grabbed a tighter hold of the chain and with a sharp tug, she threw Celeste over her shoulder, not even bothered to see where or how the dark fairy had landed but Neveah did hope she was struck to smithereens by a lightning bolt, though Neveah could not afford to linger and witness it.
Neveah quickly surveyed the battle before her, unsettled to find that the shield of the dark sorcerer held its ground against the force of Imagor’s claws whilst Imagor was exposed to the raging lightning above.
Imagor’s massive Dragon was poised mid flight, pushing down in a smashing motion and the dark sorcerer had a hand lifted beneath his barrier, pushing upwards as well.
In the midst of this, dark red mists swirled around the barrier, rising upwards to engulf Imagor. Seeing what that dark red magic attack had done to the mountain and already done to Imagor, Neveah could not help but worry.
Imagor had been the first to show up but his brothers would not be far behind, they would get to him, dark magic seals be damned!
Neveah swallowed down her worries, even if Menarx and Kirgan were somehow deterred from reaching them like the dark sorcerer claimed, Imagor was a seasoned battle Lord and experienced with dark magic, he could hold his own.
She wasted no time and broke into a swift dash, leaping onto Imagor’s swinging tail, boosting a lunge right over the dark sorcerer and the perimeter of the battle.
A graze of the red midst that lightly touched her skin, sent a searing pain like that of being burnt by lava, Neveah landed on unsteady footing, hissing beneath her breath at the pain but she went off running across the mountain range the minute her feet touched the ground, her senses poised on Zephyr’s scent trail.
