Chapter 70: The Alpha Queen’s Loyalists (Ch.70)

’It’s the extract from the Moon Whisper! An extremely potent brew!’ Neveah thought.

Neveah had witnessed the extract being harvested from the raw plant of the Moon Whisper by her Governess who tended to the Alpha Queen’s herb garden and so she was familiar with how it appeared.

Such a clear extract was the perfect choice for poisoning, the Moon Whisper had neither smell nor taste, it could only be identified by the effects it left in the bloodstream after the person was already poisoned heavily.

With the extract being so clear, the herbs would absorb it immediately and there would be no evidence left behind that an external substance had ever been added to the herbs.

If Neveah did not see it as it was happening at this moment, she also would not have been able to identify the Moon Whisper had been added to the herbs.

She had only acquired the basic knowledge from the Omega healers, and all her knowledge on poisons and their effects were owed to her Governess.

Neveah had been the test experiment to many poisons, had it not been for her wolf, she would already be long dead... Neveah was clear on this fact.

These herbs being tampered with were to be taken daily, which would mean the Moon Whisper which only a little of it was already deadly, Luna Colleen would end up consuming an overdose from Neveah’s hands.

And when the herbs were tested and the Moon Whisper was discovered, Neveah would be the one to carry the blame for it as the herbs were entrusted to her for safe keeping.

How would she be able to explain how Luna Colleen had come in contact with the Moon Whisper again? Even with all her cautious care?

Such a malicious plot, Neveah was not certain just who came up with it and was daring enough to come into her room to execute it.

She had believed her room was the safest since all the Eclipse Hunt wolves believed she was the highly respected and untouchable Eclipse Princess and did not dare offend her.

That was the only reason Neveah could leave the herb box in the drawer attached to her bedframe with no concerns.

Neveah was grateful for how cautious she had been so far, she had barely left her room other than for training and extremely important affairs and whenever she was not there, her room was watched closely by Vincent or Dechlan.

They all knew the importance of the herbs stored within and it seemed this strange woman had waited until a day like this when a celebratory event would attract everyone out.

And when they returned, they all would be exhausted and Neveah would be left unprotected and vulnerable,

If she could not trespass even in their absence, she would do it while they were present and as long as Neveah slept through it, she could still escape safely.

Neveah watched the strange woman pour the contents of the vial all over the herbs till there was only a half of it left and just as she was about to put away the vial, Neveah stepped out.

"Who are you and what exactly do you think you are doing?" Neveah demanded in a chilling cold tone.

The strange woman’s head snapped up in shock at Neveah’s sudden appearance and Neveah’s brow curled upwards as the hood covering the strange woman’s face fell backwards to reveal the face of Saffy... the pack doctor.

"So it has been you all along..." Neveah murmured, thinking back to the questions Saffy had asked her which she had initially found ridiculous but made a whole lot of sense now.

Saffy had approached her at such a time when she was distracted and swiped the key to the herb box without her knowledge and she had come to finish what she had started.

The incense was to put Neveah to sleep so she did not end up waking up to catch Saffy in the act, it was also to ensure Saffy’s scent would not linger since it would be overpowered by the scent of the incense.

Saffy had also ensured to leave everything the way she had seen it, this would ensure that no one could guess she had ever been here and they would only be surprised by the strange smell of incense but still shrug it off.

As a pack doctor, poison and incenses was a knowledge Saffy would definitely have in abundance and she knew just the dose of Moon Whisper to administer to ensure Luna Colleen remained unharmed but would never safely birth a child.

Luna Colleen’s bloodstream was poisoned and would suffocate her own pups to death, this was the cruelty being dealt to Luna Colleen by this pack doctor.

"Why are you here, Princess?! You shouldn’t be here!" Saffy hissed in annoyance as she rose up to her feet.

"This is my own room, if there is anyone who shouldn’t be here, it’s you...yet here you are, touching things you should not be touching and that wrist band in your hands belongs to me." Neveah said in a dark tone.

"You should not have been here... now I cannot let you off..." Saffy said with a snarl.

Neveah regarded Saffy quietly for a moment, the words Saffy had just said should have been said by Neveah instead, if there was anyone letting anyone off... Neveah was the one who could not let her off.

Saffy was ignorant of Neveah’s true identity, hence she had come here believing she would have the upper hand over Neveah...it was too bad that her ignorance would be her undoing.

"You would dare kill the Eclipse Princess?" Neveah asked with a raised brow but Saffy’s next response was not what Neveah had expected.

"I would be doing the Alpha Queen a favor..." Saffy said in a dark tone.

Neveah had not expected to hear Alpha Queen Vilma’s name mentioned here out of the blue, she had not expected her step mother would still have loyalists this far out in the Eclipse Domain.

Again, Neveah realized she had thought too simply, not just her father but even her step mother had eyes in the Eclipse Hunt and she dared believe she had escaped them.

Neveah was only grateful all of those who had joined Alpha Dane and Luna Colleen to the Eclipse Palace were his most trusted men and would never betray him.

But even so, Neveah no longer knew if truly she should count her secret as safe or it already was exposed.

The Alpha Queen sending one of her own after Neveah’s life was not enough to tell, the Alpha Queen had been after Neveah’s life for years now, it was not a new development.

What was new was the fact that Saffy who was poisoning Luna Colleen was somehow connected to the Alpha Queen and so she could not be so easily handled.

"You know my mother?" Neveah asked slowly and Saffy smirked.

"I was hoping to let Alpha Dane take care of you himself after the poison takes effect from your herbs, as that would have been the most assuring end."

"However since you are here, we can only put an end to it right here and right now." Saffy said in a dark tone.

"What did my mother ask of you? What does she want?" Neveah asked, her tone just as dark and chilling cold.

"Now that you are away from the Eclipse Palace, naturally you are far off from King Lothaire’s protection...you should not dream to return to the Eclipse Palace alive." Saffy said with a grin.

"So you are fully aware of my position in the Eclipse Palace... and my family?" Neveah asked,

"Do I have to know such details? The Alpha Queen entrusted me with a task, to get rid of you and it is one I intend to carry out." Saffy replied.

Neveah nodded slowly, just as she had expected, her step mother would never be willing to reveal the truth behind Neveah’s birth or the fact that she was not Neveah’s birth mother.

That was simultaneous to admitting that her mate had cheated on her with a mere human woman which was the Alpha Queen’s greatest shame.

Why would she be willing to reveal it to even more people than those who already knew of it? The Eclipse Fang Pack was still willing to save her face since she was their Luna and Queen,

But if the entire Eclipse Domain were to know of this truth, not just the Alpha Queen but the Alpha King also, they both would never be able to hold their heads up high.

So Saffy had only received an order to get rid of Neveah but she still knew nothing of who Neveah truly was.

"Very well, I shall not prevent you from carrying out your task... come...do as you have been bid, since it is my mother’s will, her daughter can only comply." Neveah said in a blank tone.
