Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 692: Target ()
"We have heard your intent and we have witnessed your ability, your worth is not in question. In the past three centuries or longer, you show the greatest potential amongst the royal lineage and you carry a life unbound by the curse of your bloodline, the honor of the royal lineage finally shows promise." Lord Fintan finally spoke up after a long while of silence.
"It is the only thing we have all desired, a return to the grandeur of the past. When the Fae race stood at the peak of the world and even the dark lord dared not cross our High Queen... even Agardan the great vanquisher, sought an alliance." Lord Fintan continued.
"In those times, the world was at our mercy and had we chosen to be the supreme race, it would have been within our reach. I do not know why our ancestors let such a chance pass us by and even bound the royal lineage to the dragons by a curse." Lord Fintan paused, his tone distasteful.
"I have one question, Lady Keila... and if you can provide an answer, my spring clan will stand behind you and give you our full support. And whoever stands against you, I will regard a mortal enemy." Lord Fintan declared.
Keila nodded her head and gestured for Lord Fintan to approach.
Lord Fintan walked forwards till he stood in the centre of the clearing and his gaze roamed around for a moment.
"It has been centuries since the Fae race fell from grace. In this time, we have made countless efforts to restore our glorious days, yet each has either fallen short or failed. Now I must know, what is it that you will do differently?" Lord Fintan posed a critical question.
Keila was quiet for a moment before she shrugged casually.
"Restore the throne of the High Queen...break the curse." Keila replied simply.
"The most important step to restoring our race is the ascension of a monarch comparable to the Dragon King." Keila continued, her statement firm.
"Yet we have made many attempts to break the curse, none of which have been successful." Lord Fintan reminded.
"My aunt and I are different." Keila said, passing a look to a silent Lady Diandre.
"While she has her own thoughts, I believe there is one certain way to break the curse." Keila asserted.
"And what is that way?" Lord Fintan asked, unconvinced.
"End the royal lineage of the dragons... kill the dragon king." Keila announced in a calm tone as though she had not just uttered the most sacrilegious words.
The gathering meadows once again fell into horrified silence, but Lord Fintan’s reaction was much different, there was intrigue in his eyes.
"The debt of life that binds us in a curse is owed by the Fae royal lineage to be collected by the royal lineage of the dragons. Now, if there is no one left to collect this debt..." Keila trailed off, leaving her words hanging.
"Then there will be no curse." Lord Fintan murmured in realisation.
"You never considered repaying the debt...you have only thought of destroying it completely." Lord Fintan continued, his eyes gleaming.
Keila shrugged casually, her hand still caressed her lower abdomen, like the contact provided her with the strength she was lacking.
"Everything is already underway. The very world in which we stand is broken in two and the dragon king is left on the other side, with no methods to return...we must only ensure that he is unable to return alive." Keila stated blankly.
From Keila’s words, it was easy for the clan representatives to deduce that she had a hand in all that had happened recently.
"You asked me what it is I intend to do differently?..." Keila asked.
She then waved a hand and a portal roared to life in the center of the gathering meadows.
Lord Fintan swiftly moved aside and the other Fae representatives shielded their faces as the whirling portal kicked up dirt and debris.
It took just a moment before a young man emerged from the portal, donning grey robes. With a flick of his hand, the portal was dispersed.
And left standing in the midst of the clan representatives was the strange young man and what was even stranger about him was his eyes, completely devoid of pupils, they were pure white.
"You...are you affiliated with the broken blade?" Lord Fintan asked, judging from the appearance of the young man.
"This...he is a dark sorcerer!" One of the clan representatives exclaimed.
The young man smirked at the recognition, dusting his robes.
"Not just any dark sorcerer..." Keila murmured.
It was important to note that since the extermination of the seven Fae clans, the Fae had stayed away from dark magic and they did not affiliate themselves with it either, at least not openly.
"An enemy of my enemy is a friend, they say. What will I do differently?... I will go as far as it takes, to have my way." Keila asserted firmly.
_______________
The gathering meadow was slowly vacated as various portals were summoned and shut and the clan representatives returned to their various regions and territories.
Lady Diandre stood in silence until there was no one else but Keila present, only then did she speak.
"The seer of the broken blade... I introduced you and your sister to him, only to be used when you desperately seek answers or solutions..." Lady Diandre began but was interrupted by Keila.
"And you never revealed to us that the broken blade was merely a cover, and was in fact the resting place of a long injured and recuperating dark sorcerer, posed as a seer... your question must be, how did I come to know this truth? And what part did I play in his swift recovery?" Keila guessed her aunt’s thoughts.
"The magical ability, you not only fed it to Verothrax, but you aided the seer also..." Lady Diandre realized.
"Keila... this... how long have you planned this?" Lady Diandre questioned warily.
Keila smirked, she got up to her feet and walked over to Lady Diandre, coming to a stop when she was right beside her.
"I believe the only relevant question at this point is... what do I intend to do next?" Keila supplied.
Lady Diandre stared at her niece in horror, wondering if she had ever known her. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Do not fret. Keep your head down and you will never be my target...my target is the one who will do anything for the return of the Dragon King." Keila assured and then she took her leave.
