Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 652: All You Need ()
As Lord Rodrick turned the corner and disappeared from view, Neveah stepped into Jian’s quarters.
She slowly let the door go closed behind her while her gaze took in the space.
Jian’s quarters were gigantic, though much like Menarx’s, it was sparsely decorated and more than Menarx’s, there was a far more desolate aura hanging heavily in the air.
Other than his separate study down the hall, there was also a work space in Jian’s private quarters, with a large work desk set in the middle.
This space itself was twice as large as Neveah’s room as an attendant. And then there was a lounge area with couches and a center table, and then his bedroom. There were some doors along the wall that led to other adjoining rooms for whatever purposes.
Neveah ventured in, walking over to one of the doors, she pushed it open and was surprised to step into a small, cozy library, with towering shelves overflowing with scrolls and books.
The shelves were arranged alongside the walls of the circular room and right in the center was a cozy looking hammock dangling from two poles.
Neveah’s lips stretched into a small smile, she could completely picture Jian right there, glancing through scrolls in the dead of the night while the rest of the Keep slept, on the many nights he could not find sleep himself.
It had always been obvious to Neveah that she did not know so much about the true personality of the Dragon King, beneath the cold and unfeeling exterior.
In the short time they had spent together, Neveah had come to realize there were many similarities between them that she could never have imagined.
To her, this private library was like a dream made real. A desolate place filled with nothing but books, and tales of yesteryears.
But in some ways, it felt too sacred to invade and so Neveah stepped out and shut the door.
Neveah sighed quietly, walking over to Jian’s bed. The sheets had been changed recently, Neveah could tell.
Lord Rodrick would keep Jian’s quarters in perfect condition anticipating his return, but Neveah found it regretful, since it meant the traces of Jian left behind before his departure had long faded away.
However, Neveah could still pick up the barest traces of his familiar scent. Neveah sat down by the side of the bed, splaying her fingers over the sheets.
She stayed that way for a moment before she took off her boots and curled up on the bed.
For a time, Neveah just lay there, staring at the wall. But not long after, she drifted off to sleep.

"Beloved...open your eyes, let me see you..." A familiar voice whispered to Neveah’s hearing.
The voice sounded distant, so much so that Neveah was tempted to ignore it in favor of her exhaustion.
"Come on now, love. I’m here, do you not want to see me?" The voice whispered again.
This time, it was much louder, right beside Neveah’s ears, so much so that a warm breath fanned against the side of her face and a scent that was so familiar invaded Neveah’s senses.
Neveah’s eyes fluttered open at that same moment, and she found herself staring straight into those mismatched orbs and at that rare smile.
He lay by her side on the bed, his head propped up on his arm as he gazed down at her, making no efforts to conceal the look of adoration in his eyes.
"Jian..." Neveah whispered in a sigh of relief, her voice cracking slightly at the end.
Jian’s brows furrowed, sensing Neveah’s distress.
"Did I cause you concern? How long has it been now?" Jian asked slowly.
"Three days." Neveah muttered quietly.
Jian’s gaze turned pained, though his eyes softened with understanding and he reached a hand to caress Neveah’s cheek.
"Forgive me. I have spent hours trying to reach Xenon that I lost track of time. I should not have added to your worries." Jian said softly.
Neveah perked up at that, her gaze was expectant but Jian’s hesitant look was like a bucket of cold water had been doused over her.
"What happened?" Neveah asked Jian, forcing away the anxiety that gripped her.
"I... I also do not know. The bond Xenon and I share runs deep, it is unlike that with the rest of my brothers, hindered by the difference in space. For Xenon, it is deep enough that I should be able to reach his mind regardless of space and distance..." Jian trailed off, his brows twitching lightly. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"But for some reason, I just cannot reach him. I sense him, but it feels like there is something blocking me out...a wall of some sort. Where Xenon is... there is magic, ancient, unkind magic." Jian said to Neveah in a serious tone.
Neveah’s heart dropped. There were only a few magic forms in the stronghold; The nature magic of the Fae’s and the Nymphs divination ability, the element magic of the Mages, the sea magic of the Merfolk... and sorcery.
"If Xenon is nowhere in the stronghold, then the only magic he could be exposed to at this moment..." Neveah trailed off.
"Dark magic." Jian confirmed, his tone tight.
"The dark lands are full of it, but to be potent enough to block even you out..." Neveah did not dare complete her words.
"It can only be one place, the skies that no dragon traverses... the Shadow Tower." Jian said with certainty.
"Being in such proximity with dark magic, Xenon is vulnerable because of the wild haze..., and with the miasma, it will be impossible to return. What can we do?" Neveah asked in concern.
Jian was quiet for a moment, also thinking it over.
"I will keep trying to reach him...but Veah, there is one certain method to reach Xenon. And I would not ask this of you...if it was not Xenon in question." Jian said in a hesitant tone.
"Anything, just say the word." Neveah told Jian.
"Demevirld... his magic can get me through the ward. I wish I knew of a better way, but if it truly is the Shadow Tower, nothing I do will break through those wards..." Jian murmured quietly, his gaze watching to see Neveah’s reaction.
Neveah shook her head slightly, she snuck an arm around Jian’s waist, snuggling as close to his chest as she could.
"Then we do it together. Take all you need." Neveah said without hesitation.
