Chapter 63: Training (Ch.63)

Neveah panted, releasing a groan of pain as she was once again thrown down on her back by Alpha Dane, her back made forceful contact with the ground of the training field and pain radiated across her back.

"To be a warrior of Eclipse Hunt, your human form must be as deadly as your wolf form. In your wolf form, you are over five times more powerful than any of us...but your human form is weak."

"A warrior must never entertain any form of weakness, you must be able to defeat in your human form as easily as you do in your wolf form."

"Again." Alpha Dane instructed and Neveah huffed quietly as she got back up to her feet.

Neveah panted, releasing a groan of pain as she was once again thrown down on her back by Alpha Dane, her back made forceful contact with the ground of the training field and pain radiated across her spine.

This was already the third time she was finding herself in this position in the space of three hours and though this was a better result than the past few weeks, it was still a string of constant defeats.

Alpha Dane circled a disgruntled looking Neveah, a smirk on his lips as he watched her just stare up into the sky without twitching as though her limbs had been broken.

She had a stunned expression on her face as though she could not believe she had found herself flat on the ground again and truly Neveah could not.

Neveah’s gaze narrowed slightly, it had already been a month since she had arrived at the Eclipse Hunt Pack and other than seeing to Luna Colleen’s affairs, she had requested Alpha Dane to train her in combat.

Neveah was not completely clueless of combat, she had received intensive training from Lado on her father’s orders,

But that was only because the Eclipse Fang wolves believed the knowledge of combat would be of no significance to her since she was only human.

It had just been a procedure done for formalities sake so Neveah did not end up being assassinated when out in the human settlement.

Though it was just for formality, Neveah had taken her training seriously and she was certain she was excellent at combat...or at least she had believed she was.

It only now became apparent to her that there was a great difference between practicing alone and actually battling with someone in a real sense.

Lado had been her only opponent and each time, it was necessary to always lose to him even if she could clearly see all the flaws in his attack and was certain she could defeat him.

Neveah guessed she had grown so used to the loosing routine that she had not put as much effort into her training as she thought she had.

However on the other hand, Alpha Dane’s training was much different than what she was used to...it was much more attentive and intentionally.

Neveah had proven her strength already, she had taken on Dechlan and Vincent and defeated them both on the first day of training, all she had to do was take her skill in combat and let her wolf loose.

Neveah’s mastery of combat was already excellent, but she always lost to Lado because she could not reveal her wolf side but with Vincent and Dechlan, she had not held back

And Alpha Dane had taken note of the fact that Neveah’s wolf was her greatest strength and so he had given a firm instruction... Neveah was not to battle with the aid of her wolf.

"To be a warrior of Eclipse Hunt, your human form must be as deadly as your wolf form. In your wolf form, you are over five times more powerful than any of us...but your human form is weak."

"A warrior must never entertain any form of weakness, you must be able to defeat your opponent in your human form as easily as you do in your wolf form."

"Again." Alpha Dane instructed and Neveah huffed quietly as she got back up to her feet.

She could understand the reason behind Alpha Dane’s training though neither of them said anything of it.

Neveah had lived all her life posing as a human, though she was now away from the Eclipse Fang, if there ever came a time she was in danger and could not reveal her wolf side... she would need a back up plan.

Neveah’s wolf was already as strong as they came, it was left for the human to build up her strength so she was capable of matching up with her wolf, this was the only way Neveah could achieve the greatest strength.

"Being born with a strong wolf is the Creator’s blessing to you...but is it a blessing you are worthy of?" Alpha Dane taunted as Neveah circled him.

"Being born a King is nothing...are you strong enough to be called one? What King is defeated by her subordinates?" Alpha Dane asked again.

Neveah knew Alpha Dane was just trying to rile her up, however of there was anything that would never get to Neveah, then it was words.

She circled Alpha Dane slowly, seeking an opening in his defences but it was difficult to find one with a seasoned warrior like Alpha Dane.

Neveah had figured, it was not she who was weak, it was only that Alpha Dane was a truly strong Alpha,

She had always assumed the Eclipse Fang boasted of the strongest warriors and she was not the only one who had this assumption, but Neveah realized at this moment that she was wrong and so was everyone else.

The Eclipse Alphas were not any less than the most elite warriors of the Eclipse Fang Pack if Neveah made her judgment from Alpha Dane alone, Neveah could confidently say her father was not even half as informed as he believed he was.

Alpha Dane’s strength most definitely surpassed that of Lado who was the head warrior of the Eclipse Fang and perhaps was on par with Beta Horace of Eclipse Fang or only slightly less than.

Neveah wondered if her father had known of just how strong Alpha Dane truly was, would he dare let Alpha Dane live and carry on ruling a territory in the Eclipse Domain?

Neveah was certain he never would, her father had always been a wary man, suspicious of everything and everyone...these were concerns that came with being the one sitting at the top of the world.

Where her father believed he had a tight hold on all the Eclipse Alphas, Neveah could now see that the Eclipse Alphas had only grown more adept at concealing their true strength from their King... just like Neveah.

Whoever was unnecessarily strong was one her father would consider an enemy, it did not matter what reasons were attached.

The wiser Eclipse Alphas knew this but they still did not know enough...they did not know just how fearsome her father was.

Neveah did not expect the Eclipse Alphas to commit their absolute loyalties to the Eclipse royals, however she also hoped the Eclipse Hunt knew it well enough that there was only so long they could conceal their strength from Alpha King Lothaire Raul.

Or perhaps her father already knew of it and kept a close eye on them, Neveah knew well enough that her father had spies in all the Eclipse packs, it was why she had insisted on keeping her training private and had never taken her wolf form in the open.

Even here in the Eclipse Hunt Pack, so far from the Eclipse Palace, Neveah still could not find the freedom she sought...there was not a place in the Eclipse Domain that could provide her that freedom.

Neveah forced her thoughts aside and lunged at Alpha Dane, throwing a fist out, Alpha Dane easily blocked her fist and Neveah spun around to escape being placed in a headlock like she had many times before.

"You learn fast." Alpha Dane commended as Neveah distanced herself from him again.

"You do not leave me much of a choice." Neveah replied, preparing herself to withstand Alpha Dane’s attack as he lunged.

Alpha Dane was a skilled fighter, that much was certain, however Neveah had taken the time and constant defeats to study his attack sequence.

First, he always settled for the defense first which was reasonable in most cases to gauge your opponent’s strength but could sometimes be a very wrong choice.

Had Neveah been allowed to tap into her wolf strength, she would easily dismantle all of Alpha Dane’s defences before he could even blink, he stood more of a chance attacking in that scenario.

’I could aid in a subtle way.’ Neveah’s wolf suggested in her mind, she was already greatly displeased having Neveah slammed to the ground repeatedly when she could rip Alpha Dane to shreds in the blink of an eye.

Neveah knew her wolf had not and would never take a liking to any of the Eclipse Hunt wolves, but then again, her wolf had never taken a liking to anyone at all.

Her wolf had a domineering personality and did not appreciate Neveah letting Alpha Dane beat down on her.

"Do not even think of it." Alpha Dane warned, catching the dim glow in Neveah’s eyes and Neveah shook her head quickly, resisting her wolf’s influence.

"Allow me this time, I must learn to be your equal... I do not wish to always rely on you for strength, neither do I wish to be your weakness."

"You are a King wolf, yet I have suppressed you for so long... I will become worthy of you, I will not let you down." Neveah thought to her wolf as she clenched her fists and lunged again.
