Chapter 59: Is She Worth It? (Ch.59)

Alpha Dane struggled to get to her but the rogues blocked his path.

Neveah reached for her boot, there were no more daggers...four daggers and all four had struck true but there was none left and Luna Colleen was in danger.

Neveah glanced all around her, Dechlan, Vincent... everyone was too far away and other than her, only Alpha Dane had noticed Luna Colleen was in danger.

No one would be able to get to her in time... no one.

"But we can." Neveah’s wolf said in her mind,

Neveah winced slightly, her hands clenching into fists as numerous thoughts ran through her mind but regardless of every consideration, Neveah knew she could not let Luna Colleen be harmed.

"This...we will be putting ourselves in danger again if we do this." Neveah thought to her wolf.

"Is it worth it? Is she worth it to you Veah?" Neveah’s wolf asked.

Neveah lifted her gaze to Luna Colleen whose eyes were shut as she shielded her stomach with her hands.

Neveah did not need to think twice about it, she had vowed to herself, that those who had protected her and loved her sincerely in her previous lifetime... she would repay them a thousand times.

"She is." Neveah decided as she let her shift rip through her. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

A pained scream ripped out of her lips, this would be the fourth time in Neveah’s life she would take her wolf form and though it happened in the blink of an eye, the pain was excruciating.

Now standing on four paws, Neveah lunged, crashing into the rogue wolf just before it reached Luna Colleen.

Neveah jaws clamped down on it’s exposed throat, ripping her head backwards and completely shredding the rogue’s throat.

Neveah then turned as blood dripped down her maws, her gaze settled on a wide eyed Luna Colleen who just stared, her jaws open in shock.

Neveah did not have the time to be concerned with Luna Colleen’s reaction, since she had already made this choice, there was no going back.

"Let me take control." Neveah’s wolf requested and Neveah obliged.

Her wolf rose to the surface and a strength Neveah had never felt before surged through her veins as her wolf tilted her head back and released an earth shaking growl, midnight blue fur gleaming in the moonlight.

Standing at a height of 12ft, Neveah was twice Alpha Dane’s size, and with a lithe but muscular build and eyes a glowing gold, she was a terrifyingly beautiful sight.

Her sharp wolf eyes scanned the clearing, orbs glowing with blood thirst as she lunged at the nearest rogue, ripping through it ferociously.

Neveah’s movement was a blur as she lunged for the next unsuspecting rogue, grabbing it by the scruff of it’s neck, she tossed it back, washing it crash into a tree.

She lunged again before the rogue could regain it’s bearing and her claws slid across it’s throat, slitting it open, blood spraying all over her fur.

At this point, the eyes of everyone in the clearing were now fixed on Neveah, rogues and Eclipse Hunt wolves alike, their eyes wide with horror.

Neveah barely took notice of them as she battled her way through the clearing, taking down one rogue after the other.

Faced with an Alpha King wolf, the rogues stood no chance whatsoever and realizing this, they immediately tried to retreat.

Neveah’s glowing eyes fixed on the escaping rogues, a furious growl escaping her lips and it was only then the Eclipse Hunt wolves were jolted back to reality and quickly intercepted the escaping rogues.

One after the other, the rogues were taken down till there was none left and after ripping through the last of the rogues, Neveah released another growl.

Her gaze settled on Alpha Dane and unable to withstand the dominance Neveah exuded, Alpha Dane and the Eclipse Hunt wolves lowered their heads and bared their necks in submission.

"That’s enough." Neveah thought to her wolf, knowing her wolf purposely intimidated the Eclipse Hunt wolves to submission.

"They stand in the presence of a King... I will have them know it and everyone else from this day forth." Neveah’s wolf declared as she slowly retreated to the back of Neveah’s mind.

"They are... friends." Neveah reminded her wolf though she herself was not certain what the word ’friends’ actually meant.

"You do not truly believe that do you?...A king has no friends Veah... that is how we survive." Neveah’s wolf thought back to her.

Neveah’s gaze lingered on the Eclipse Hunt wolves for a moment longer before she turned and dashed into the woods.

________________

Neveah stared ahead at nothing in particular as she sat on her hind legs, still in her wolf form.

She lifted her paw to her view, again marvelling at the beauty of her gleaming fur, she never dared take her wolf form even in secret for fear of being caught.

To Neveah, her wolf form was as new to her as it probably was to everyone else and it ached her heart that she had been forced to spend thirteen years hiding such a beauty as her wolf was.

"You will have to make it up to me going forward." Neveah’s wolf thought to her and Neveah smiled slightly.

"Aren’t I already?" Neveah asked.

It had been about an hour since she left the Eclipse Hunt wolves behind in the clearing and now that Neveah thought about it, she should have at least taken a change of clothes along with her.

She had ripped her clothes shifting into her wolf form, and now she could not shift back because she had no clothes to change into.

She also could not head back to the clearing where the Eclipse Hunt wolves were,

Neveah knew Vincent and Dechlan were somewhere around, though they kept their distance, they were watching her but she paid them no heed, Neveah guessed this was where her fate with the Eclipse Hunt came to an end.

She could not ask them to keep her secret neither could she make them understand her reasons.

"It is for the best, we were never meant to be restrained by the rules of others neither can we place our trust in anyone... not this time." Neveah’s wolf said to her.

"Perhaps. What is next for us?" Neveah thought back.

"Freedom...freedom is next." Neveah’s wolf replied and Neveah tilted her head back, the wind brushing against her fur felt so refreshing, she just wanted to stay out here forever.

In the heart of the forest, where she had no worries or fears, no responsibilities and no care for identities.

"Very well, whatever you wish for...I will listen to you only." Neveah decided.

"No Veah... whatever you wish for, we will make it happen." Neveah’s wolf replied with certainty.

Neveah pondered over it for a moment, what did she truly wish for? Was it revenge? To take her pound of flesh from all those who had harmed her?

Was it the Eclipse throne? The one thing that had been above her reach all her life? A place a bastard child as she was could never even dream of climbing up to?

Was it a family? People she could actually trust and rely on?

Was it love? A mate who was truly worthy to stand by her side? Who would be there for her through it all?

After experiencing life and death once before, Neveah knew these worldly desires were all fleeting, so what was it that she truly wished for?

"I... I just want us to live, you know? Truly live...we deserve that." Neveah thought as she lay down on the grass and curled her head down on her paws.

Her eyes fluttered closed and Neveah was just about to drift off to sleep when she heard footsteps approaching.

"Veah?" Luna Colleen’s apprehensive voice called out to her.

Neveah lifted her head up, her wolf eyes moving to settle on Luna Colleen who now seemed miniature compared to her 12ft height and muscular build.

She could see Dechlan and Vincent moving closer to Luna Colleen, clearly they feared Neveah was not in her right mind and would attack Luna Colleen and Neveah resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

She understood they were wary of her and unsure how to react to this shocking revelation but they should at least know their own abilities.

If Neveah truly wanted to attack anyone, it would take a whole lot more than just the two of them to stop her.

Neveah tilted her head to the side to show Luna Colleen that she could hear her.

"I thought you would want this... we’ve been waiting for you to come out but you can take your time." Luna Colleen assured as she placed down a new set of Neveah’s clothing.

Neveah frowned slightly, from Luna Colleen’s words, the Eclipse Hunt wolves did not intend to leave without her.

"You made me a promise Veah, that you would protect my pups...you kept your word already, is it greedy of me to still ask for more? I cannot be rest assured without you Veah... don’t leave." Luna Colleen pleaded
