Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 58: Rogues 2 ()

The first of the savage wolves broke through the cover of trees, with a large build and glowing red orbs that reflected nothing but savagery and blood thirst, the sight of this rogue was terrifying.

There were tufts of fur missing from different parts of its body, its maws hung open as it released starved pants while its red orbs roved around the clearing.

It took a step forward, claws digging into the soft earth and while all gazes were focused on it and Alpha Dane prepared himself for a battle, another twig snapped to the side.

A second rogue emerged from the line of trees and then another and they just kept coming till the party was surrounded by almost thirty full grown rogue wolves.

"How could there be so many of them?" Dechlan said in a low tone, his eyes narrowed.

"It looks to be a pack of some sort." Vincent murmured in response, however his grim tone made it clear that he knew as everyone else did that the Eclipse Hunt wolves were outnumbered.

Of the twenty Eclipse Hunt wolves present, only thirteen of them were warriors, the rest could not hold their ground in a full scale battle and would still need to be protected.

This made the odds, thirteen to thirty large rogue wolves and truly, these odds did not seem fair at all.

"We can’t take them." Dechlan hissed in a low tone.

"The Eclipse Hunt border is still far up ahead and this is unclaimed land, there are no pack borders close enough to provide aid in time...we have to take them." Alpha Dane’s Beta, murmured in a grim tone.

"They know this fully well...they attacked because they are certain we are disadvantaged." Alpha Dane says as he passed Luna Colleen a glance for a moment.

It was just a brief moment but it was enough to harden Alpha Dane’s resolve as he was overwhelmed with the need to protect his mate from danger. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"Dechlan, Vincent... I’m counting on you two to take Colleen to safety." Alpha Dane murmured.

"Dane..." Luna Colleen whispered in a pained tone knowing her mate would risk everything if that was what it took to keep her safe.

His eyes glowed, revealing the presence of his wolf at the surface as a loud growl escaped his lips and just as the first rogue moved, Alpha Dane lunged, shifting mid air and colliding with the first rogue, both wolves crashing down to the ground.

In that moment, the battle began and the rogues attacked, the Eclipse Hunt wolves lunged forwards to resist the attack whilst Vincent pulled Luna Colleen back with him.

"I’m not leaving! I’m not leaving Dane!" Luna Colleen snarled furiously as she struggled against her brother’s hold.

"Leen! Listen! Think of your pups first! The Alpha will be safe." Vincent said urgently as he to pulled her backwards while the fierce battle played out right before their eyes.

The Eclipse Hunt wolves were truly outnumbered and the rogues were savages which made them twice as deadly as a pack wolf.

With Vincent and Dechlan staying detached from the battle and trying to guide Colleen and Neveah away, there were even less than thirteen able warrior wolves battling while the other wolves struggled to fend off the attacks.

Alpha Dane himself battled three rogues all at once, they attacked him on all sides, intent on taking down the strongest wolf first.

Alpha Dane’s Beta was also overwhelmed by two rogues and struggled to free himself and go to his Alpha’s aid but he had no opening.

"I’m not leaving! Go and protect Dane!" Luna Colleen insisted as she pulled her hand out of Vincent’s grasp and glared fiercely at him, daring him to defy her.

"But..." Vincent began to argue however Luna Colleen’s wolf rose to the surface.

"I said, go!" Luna Colleen growled out fiercely.

"Forgive me Luna, but Alpha’s orders surpass yours." Vincent apologized as he made to grab his sister again but she hit his hand away.

"Vin! You know me, Alpha’s orders be damned!... I’m never leaving my man to his death, never!" Luna Colleen snarled.

"There’s no time for this! Alpha Dane cannot battle without concern if you are here! We need to get you to safety!"

"What about the Princess?! Will you let her die with us?!’ Vincent demanded and that was when Luna Colleen finally recalled Neveah’s presence.

Neveah who had been quietly watching the display frowned slightly at the mention of her name, to think Vincent wanted to use her as a means to convince Luna Colleen.

Neveah had been quiet all this while, touched by the bond shared between Alpha Dane and Luna Colleen as both were willing to risk their lives for the other.

"Veah..." Luna Colleen began but Neveah cut her off.

"I’m fine...if you want to stay, we will stay." Neveah said.

"What do you mean stay?! What exactly can you do if you stay here?!" Vincent snapped when Neveah’s words only encouraged Luna Colleen even more.

"We won’t be doing anything if we left either, you have no rights to decide for me...watch your tone, pup." Neveah warned as she pulled out her dagger from her boot and hurled it.

The dagger soared through the air and embedded itself straight through the forehead of one of the three rogue wolves attacking Alpha Dane.

Alpha Dane’s wolf eyes settled on Neveah for a moment before he lunged, quickly finishing off another of the rogues and then lunging at the third.

Vincent, Dechlan and Luna Colleen passed Neveah shocked looks as she pulled out another dagger.

They must have believed Neveah was completely helpless in the face of battle, if only they knew every day of her life had been a life and death battle.

"I am the Eclipse Princess... if I couldn’t protect my own self, I would already be dead." Neveah said as she hurled the second dagger and took down another rogue, freeing Alpha Dane’s Beta.

"I don’t need anyone’s protection... just focus on keeping your Luna safe." Neveah clarified.

No one had the chance to say anymore as two rogues lunged at them, Dechlan shifted immediately and resisted the attack of both rogues whilst Vincent stood before Luna Colleen, shielding her.

The only opening that was previously available to take Luna Colleen and Neveah out of the clearing was now blocked off by rogues, the party was completely surrounded.

"There’s no going back now, I will not leave your side." Vincent said to Luna Colleen.

Neveah watched the battle, her gaze narrowed, she only had four throwing daggers she carried on her person, she had already made use of two, there were just two left.

Though Neveah was not completely ignorant at combat, as a human, she stood no chance at close up combat, she would need to use the two daggers left wisely.

There were still at least twenty rogues left and Dechlan did his best to keep the rogues away from Neveah and Luna Colleen while Vincent stood guard, just in case.

It was at this moment another rogue lunged straight for them from behind Neveah, Vincent leaped forwards, right over Neveah, shifting mid air and crashing into the rogue.

The rogue’s limb still slammed into Neveah’s back and she was tossed back by the force, crashing some distance away.

Neveah heard Luna Colleen screaming her name but pain clouded her senses and she released a groan, glancing down to see she her hand bled profusely.

The claws of the rogue had already dug into her skin before Vincent reached out and Neveah was certain she had broken a few ribs from the force of her crash.

Neveah struggled to her feet, the rogues were occupied with battle and had not taken notice of Neveah yet, there was now a great distance between Neveah and Luna Colleen.

Neveah made to head towards Luna Colleen but Luna Colleen dissuaded her.

"Veah! Help Dane!" Luna Colleen called to Neveah and Neveah turned to see Alpha Dane was again overwhelmed by three rogues.

Neveah pulled out another dagger from her boot, gritting her teeth against the pain from her bleeding hand, she hurled it at one of the rogues, watching as it imbedded itself straight into the rogue’s heart.

Alpha Dane leaped up immediately and shook off the rogue on his back, Neveah then turned and noticed a rogue creeping up on Vincent from behind.

Neveah immediately hurled another dagger at it, taking down the rogue and watching it crash to the ground dead.

Vincent glanced back for a moment, his wolf eyes lingered on Neveah for a moment before he leaped at the rogue Dechlan struggled with.

Neveah groaned quietly, there were still at least twelve rogues left and it seemed some more emerged from the forest, increasing the numbers to over twenty.

The Eclipse Hunt wolves were all fully engaged and their strength was failing, Neveah could see one of the Eclipse wolves had fallen to the rogues as well.

It was at this moment that Alpha Dane released a ferocious growl, Neveah glanced up and noticed a rogue lunging for Luna Colleen.
