Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 588: All For You ()
The winged man sat at the edge of the cliff as he always did, gazing out into the valleys far ahead.
These valleys always held an enchanting beauty to him, one that kept him returning to this exact spot over and over again till it had become where he would spend most of his days and nights, and never did he grow tired or sick of the sight.
However this time was not the same as other times. This time, not even the rolling valleys that lay ahead and the meadows of poisonous blooms could bring any sort of excitement or appease the winged man.
That beauty he had often seen was equally nowhere to be found, there was no beauty in anything when wrath churned within his heart, curling dangerously, seeking an outlet to be unleashed.
Rather than a melancholic or calm expression as would usually be found on the winged man, there were instead traces of agitation on his expression, especially in his eyes.
And rather than the silence he preferred, his claws scraped over the ground, repeatedly, banishing any form of silence that could have been.
It was not everyday things went according to plan, the winged man knew this. But at the least, his successes and failures were all in the palm of his own hand.
What was most unacceptable to the winged man was a result that was completely out of his control... that, he could not stand and had not incited in some way or form.
Now, the winged man sat, mulling over when and how he had let control slip out of his grasp and above all, the cruelest manner through which he could reclaim it.
His dark thoughts were but a means to keep his mind occupied, while he waited.
And just as the patience of the winged man began to slip, the wait was over.
"My Lord." Celeste greeted, just as the whoosh of magic originating from a portal dispersed.
The winged man smiled slightly, passing a look over his shoulder to Celeste.
She looked well, far too well for one who was swiftly becoming an annoyance to him.
"Sit with me, I have some thoughts I wish to share with someone... and you came to mind." The winged man said to Celeste, his tone was perfectly calm, a contrast to what he truly felt.
"I will be fine to stand." Celeste declined with a small bow, but she moved closer so she stood right behind the winged man.
The winged man did not begin speaking immediately, he was quiet for a moment before he spoke.
"The world I want...do you know what I would consider the greatest victory when I have it?" The winged man asked Celeste quietly.
"True supremacy, above what was achieved by the dragon dynasty..." Celeste guessed.
The winged man chuckled quietly and shook his head.
"True supremacy is but an illusion. I would know. I am dragon born, am I not?" The winged man asked, passing a look over to Celeste.
Celeste lowered her head slightly, in a gesture of apology if she had misspoken.
"The uprising...divided the world by races and within those races, by tribes and even within those tribes, by clans..." The winged man begun.
"The overthrow further divided the world, by those who had been touched by dark magic and those who remained untainted... dragon against dragon, brother against brother, an irreconcilable feud."
"Each dynasty has further taken with it a piece of the realm... first the dark empire, then the witches, then the Signe Tribe... with the advent of each ruler, there was a decimation. In some cases, it had been a necessity...in others, not so much." The winged man continued in a melancholic tone.
"The greatest achievement would be... to win the world, in one piece. To have the entire world, whole... just as it is. Hence why I have not destroyed Fort Blazed...or any of the ten great fortresses,"
"The world is not my enemy you see...they are just as unfortunate, to be caught in the cross fire. However, for the world to be renewed, there must be chaos, destruction, death...as many as is required, only from the ashes can new life arise... I have made peace with this reality, that I can never have that greatest achievement." The winged man murmured.
"Everything is going according to plan... like the universe works in my favor, the world itself was broken in two...chaos, terror and panic is widespread, this is exactly the result I envisioned..." The winged man trailed off.
"If I were one who could believe in luck, I would be pleased...but I do not believe in things such as luck. Tell me Celeste, is the victory truly mine...or is it just to suit your own purposes?" The winged man asked, his tone still calm.
Celeste’s brows twitched slightly, although she did not allow her expression reveal too much.
She had known the winged man would eventually discover what she had done and she had prepared to face him when that day came.
"What purpose might I have but your goal?" Celeste asked.
"Perhaps to get rid of Azkar while he is still weak? Isn’t it curious that the breaking happened just when he was on the other side?" The winged man asked rhetorically.
"I could not have known about that. Your Lordship has always kept Azkar’s missions a secret from me." Celeste deflected the accusation.
"And this is how you get back at me? By making certain Azkar is permanently removed in a manner I cannot undo? Leaving me with no other confidant but you?" The winged man asked.
Celeste’s eyes darted to the sides, the winged man was clearly certain she had known of Azkar’s whereabouts in the dark lands and she could not continue denying it, that would provoke him more.
"Azkar took Fort Blazed for you and I have broken the world for you. Have I not proven myself worthy of your confidence? I have given Azkar the opportunity, to finish off Your Lordship’s enemies with no interference... this is all in my loyalty to you." Celeste said, a demure smile on her lips.
"Loyalty..." The winged man murmured quietly.
The words tasted bitter on his tongue, simply because the winged man knew Celeste all too well, and knew exactly what she desired.
"What did you do with Verothrax?" The winged man asked after a short moment of silence.
"I merely provided the dragons a reminder of why magic is not theirs to have...you see, magic can either be a gift, or a curse... depending on whose hands it is." Celeste said quietly.
"You have fed Verothrax with the magical ability you had the dwarves steal, to unsettle his own magic, while the dwarves have taken the fall for it and now the Fae too...you must have known, that Verothrax would be awakened when we took Fort Blazed." The winged man murmured in realisation.
"The world they are sworn to protect was harmed by one of their own. This in itself is a great blow to the dragons." Celeste declared, excitement slipping into her tone.
"How long has it been since you began communicating with your kind again? All the agitation for war is equally incited by you. You have the Fae in your control... and someone of worth on the inside of Dragon Keep, that is the only way you could have gotten to a closely guarded Verothrax." The winged man murmured.
"Who is it? Who have you planted in Dragon Keep?" The winged man asked.
Celeste’s smile grew wider and she tilted her head to the side.
"I will not burden Your Lordship with the details of my sources. Your Lordship needs only trust, that all I do, I do for you." Celeste said coyly.
"It was my oversight...to have underestimated you, Celeste." The winged man murmured, his lips twitching in amusement.
He passed a look over his shoulder to Celeste.
"You had best not fail this time, then. To get rid of all you desire to get rid of...Azkar, the Dragon King, Lord Xenon, make certain they never return. For should any of them live..." The winged man trailed off.
"Let us both hope, we do not meet such a day." The winged man concluded.

"Dune Castle reports that no portals go through the miasma, none! The mist grows more toxic by the day! And there is a damned plague in Scabbard! Not to mention the Fae...those dreadful creatures!"
"It has been an entire month! Am I to just sit here with the city guard while My Liege is out there?!"
"Damn it!" Lodenworth roared in rage, overturning the map table before him. He ran a hand through his hair in frustration before he realized he was not alone.
Keila sat by the side, staring up at him with wide eyes, her hand clutching her lower abdomen.
Lodenworth breathed a heavy sigh recalling he had just cursed at Keila’s kind without thinking.
Covering the distance between them, he lowered himself to a knee and placed a hand over Keila’s. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Forgive me, I do not mean to frighten you... I hope I have not unsettled my son." Lodenworth asked worriedly.
"Our son... Lodenworth. In all you do, you should not forget that it is no longer just us...you must maintain a clear head, especially at this time." Keila soothed Lodenworth.
Lodenworth grumbled beneath his breath but nodded.
"I am blessed to have you, Keila. You are the only thing keeping me sane...in these trying times." Lodenworth murmured quietly.
