Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 555: Waterfall Inn ()
King Jian pushed open the door to Neveah’s quarters, but he did not even need to look around to know Neveah had long been away.
His brows furrowed into a frown and he strode out to meet Xenon who had just returned.
"She is not in the castle, or the City Guard." Xenon revealed in a tone of concern.
King Jian had already expected that much, one could not put it past Neveah to take matters into her own hands, she was always that daring.
"Her subordinate?" King Jian asked.
"The Commander of City Guard is off duty." Xenon relayed.
"Find his residence and find out exactly where she is, keep an eye out and intervene the moment there are any signs of danger. I will see this Blackbird for myself." King Jian instructed.
Xenon headed off without delay and King Jian also took his leave. Unlike Keep Skies, the Dune Castle did not have it’s dungeons underneath.
The dungeons were located at the flight patrol base of the Dune Dragons, a completely different location from the Dune Castle where the dragons on flight patrol took their shifts.
It was a short flight, barely a few minutes and King Jian arrived the base. He shifted to his human form mid flight and landed on his feet.
Garron already stood waiting to receive him.
"My Liege. Lord Orin is in there with him now. Right this way." Garron directed.
King Jian followed Garron’s direction and was lead through the base till they arrived at the dungeons.
The dungeons were shrouded in darkness and though King Jian could see well enough, he knew it would not be the same for many others.
Orin stood by the cell door which held the man King Jian wanted to see.
King Jian stood at the doors of the cell, he could see the man seated within, an adamant expression on his face.
He was a lanky man, but had a cunning and vicious look, with scars running along the side of his face.
"He insists he is not Sir Blackbird. Give us a half hour, we will get everything out of him." Orin assured King Jian.
"I cannot wait that long." King Jian said.
King Jian eyes revealed a dim glow, and a circle of flame roared to life around the nymph in the jail cell.
The nymph jumped up to his feet with a surprised scream as the flames licked at him, they had grown as tall as his thighs in a flash, caging him in so he could not even jump out.
"Fire! Someone help! Fire!" The nymph cried out for help.
"I will ask just once..." King Jian’s eeriely low tone interrupted the nymph.
"Who... who are you?! What do you think you are doing?!" The nymph screamed in a mix of panic and pain as the circle of flames grew smaller around him, the flames burning every part of his skin it touched.
"What is your mission in the Dunes?" King Jian asked, his words were slow but thick with deadly promise.

Neveah kept her head low as she walked through the hall of the waterfall inn where the tables and chairs were set.
There were more people seated at it now than there had been when Neveah and Tara had come in and there were loud and boisterous conversations going on in different parts of the hall, creating a noisy atmosphere.
Neveah guessed the inn would get increasingly rowdy as the hours passed on and the early hours of the evening gave way for the night.
A lot of patrons who had been out of the inn for the day would be returning at these hours.
’You need to get out before then, especially with Tara here. Her combat skills are lacking, if we have to fight our way out, she will be a drawback.’ Neveah’s wolf reminded her.
’If we have to fight our way out, I fear it will prove difficult on our end also...with the Fae kind comes magic.’ Neveah thought back to her wolf.
’Then hasten.’ Neveah’s wolf reminded her.
Neveah breathed a sigh, she had successfully gotten accross the hall without attracting any attention and she then headed in the back hallway where she had seen the other workers in the inn go.
Neveah followed behind another maid who had come from another room on the lower level and she stayed behind her as they walked deeper through a dimly lit hallway.
"Did you get to see his face? I hear no one has ever seen his face." The maid Neveah walked with whispered over to her the moment they were far enough from the hall.
Neveah shook her head slowly, knowing it was best she did not speak a word.
"I thought as much." The maid murmured and thankfully did not ask more.
There were other workers moving past, and Neveah soon caught sight of the familiar robes of one of the innkeepers up ahead.
The innkeeper took a left turn up ahead and Neveah kept in place with the other maid till they had gotten up to that point and then she diverted when the maid ahead was not paying attention, taking the path the innkeeper had.
She caught sight of the innkeeper once again just as he stepped into a door at the end of the hallway, leaving the door half open.
’There is no time to wait for him to leave.’ Neveah’s wolf reminded her.
’I understand.’ Neveah thought back. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Neveah glanced around the hallway, ensuring there was no one around before she slipped in after the innkeeper and pulled the door shut soundlessly.
The innkeeper was leaned over a desk, searching through the drawer on the other side and Neveah slowly stalked up to him from behind, keeping her steps as soundless as she could.
It would have been much more difficult if this was one of the Fae disguised as a human, though the Fae were not blessed with senses as sensitive as that of wolf shifters, they were definitely much more tuned to their surroundings than humans.
But for some reason, Neveah had figured that the innkeeper was truly a human.
When Neveah had gotten right up behind him, she lifted a hand and dealt a measured blow to the back of his head, catching the innkeeper’s fall as he lost consciousness.
