Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 490: Through The Portal ()
’He is close...’ Neveah’s wolf thought to her.
Neveah hummed in response, she could sense him too. His anxiety left a trail far behind him.
’How did he get this far so quickly?’ Neveah thought back to her wolf.
They were two hours out from the Dune City and at Neveah’s speed, Neveah knew this far would already be half a day’s ride by horse.
Neveah had not expected the portal shards the city guard had showed to her could have such a far effect range, it looked to be just any regular portal shard, but Neveah realized now that it was not a portal that could be cast by just anyone.
What was more, the merchant had purposely avoided going for the White Dunes knowing the wide expanse would provide him no shelter and he would easily be spotted.
Instead, he made for the small forest on the far end of the Dune City.
’One cannot eliminate the possibility that he had help...’ Neveah’s wolf aired their shared thought.
’It seems the trade of adamantium weapons has much deeper roots than we have thought...’ Neveah thought back.
The dwarf king had confessed to having mined adamantium ore for almost a decade already, and the ore had been transported out of the hidden city for that long already.
However, the dwarf king himself was merely the figure head and his advisor had been the one in charge of handling the shipments, hence the destination of these shipments were still unknown.
This advisor had been killed during the subjugation of the hidden city and tracking down the spread of adamantium had become difficult.
This had all happened a year ago and Neveah had received the report after the interrogation of the dwarf king before the unified council.
The dragons had done a good job clearing out numerous shipments of adamantium in various fortresses, but even so, the trade of the ore was still thriving in the shadows.
’Up ahead.’ Neveah’s wolf thought to her.
Neveah’s gaze moved to the clearing that was a short distance ahead of them, she could pick up the sound of a flowing stream.
Neveah’s paws moved quietly as she approached the clearing, a few steps forward and she could already sight him.
The bulky middle aged merchant was crouched down, leaned over the stream, splashing water over his face.
Neveah’s wolf eyes narrowed slightly as she watched the merchant, checking to see if he had company or any means of travel.
But there was no one else but him, Neveah could not sense any other signs of life in the woods around them.
The sound of twig snapping gave Neveah away and Neveah passed a look over as a small rabbit scurried past her, but it was right at her side and of course the merchant had turned right over, sighting Neveah’s form.
The merchant may have known it was Neveah or not, not many people had seen or knew of Neveah’s wolf form in the Dune City, Neveah did not know if the merchant could be so well informed.
However, Neveah’s mighty build made it hard to categorize her as just any regular forest wolf, she was three times the size of a normal wolf, perhaps even more.
But even if the merchant was silly enough to believe Neveah to be just any ordinary wolf, the smartest solution in every scenario was exactly what he did.
’Damn it!’ Neveah thought as the merchant frantically threw an item to the ground and a portal roared open in front of him. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
’Where did he hide all of that?!’ Neveah thought, lunging at the merchant to stop him from jumping into the portal.
Neveah tackled the merchant to the ground just in time but the force of his fall sent them both tumbling right through the portal.

Jian stared at the Myriad Forest, his expression revealing his distaste, it was a testament of his displeasure and reluctance.
Jian had never imagined there would come a day when he would have to consult with a seer, or even be in the same vicinity with one of them.
It was the last choice Jian would ever have made had it been up to him alone,
But a King did not get to make so many choices for himself. At all times, the first consideration had to be what was best for his people...
And the Stronghold did not need a King whose mind was clouded with visions he could not understand or decipher.
"We are already here, you cannot have a change of heart now." Cassian clarified to Jian, watching Jian’s expression warily.
"Change of heart? That would only be applicable if my heart led me here in the first place." Jian reminded.
"Jian, everything is already set. It would not take us more than a day and we will be out of here. You can then forget this ever happened." Cassian reassured.
"And they will forget I was here also?" Jian deadpanned.
"The Myriad Nymph’s are sworn to secrecy and absolute loyalty to Dragon dynasty."
"Beyond that, no one else but the seer and his aides have been made aware of your visit. We will head straight to meet the seer at the agreed point and we will not have to encounter anyone on the way."
"Kirgan already arranged everything ahead of time, so you can be at ease. But if you still do not feel assured, I can kill everyone after..." Cassian offered.
Jian passed Cassian a dry look, before he glanced above them.
"Where is Xenon exactly? I thought you said he would be here." Jian asked blankly.
"I believe we arrived earlier than we have planned. Xenon will be here at dawn...we could wait for him, or go ahead and meet him on the way out." Cassian suggested.
"Fine. I hope for your sakes that this trip turns out to be productive...or you will compensate for my wasted time." Jian made clear as he walked on ahead.
