Chapter 394: What Else Is New (Ch.394)

"Keep her away from me, she is the traitor!" Davina accused, pointing a finger at Neveah.

"We cannot have you tampering with the witness’ testimony, Lady Neveah. You should return and await the council’s judgement." The unfamiliar man warned.

Neveah passed him a look, a foreign anger surged through her veins, her mind grew cloudy as she stared straight at the unfamiliar man, as though she was not looking at him but into him.

Neveah watched the eyes of the unfamiliar man grow wide before he collapsed to the ground, completely still.

Davina shrieked in horror, falling to the ground as she stared at Neveah.

Neveah blinked in astonishment, taking a step back, her eyes wide in alarm.

"Scales! Is he dead?!" Estelle exclaimed from where she stood, having seen everything play out.

Neveah ignored Estelle’s reaction, crouching down, she placed two fingers by the neck of the unfamiliar man, checking his pulse.

Neveah exhaled a breath of relief when she found he was just unconscious and was not dead.

’What just happened? Did we...did we do that?’ Neveah thought to her wolf in horror, unable to comprehend what had just happened but Neveah did not get the opportunity to ponder over it.

’Omega!’ The voice hissed in Neveah’s mind again.

Neveah groaned as a sharp ache spread through her skull, she got up to her feet and walked over to Davina, it seemed this was where the voice had been leading her all along.

Neveah crouched down before Davina, staring at her with furrowed brows.

’Fairy magic...’ That voice in Neveah’s head said, a statement Neveah did not quite understand.

"What in the world is going on here? What exactly have you done, Davina?" Neveah asked, searching the eyes of the girl she had come to care for.

"I have no idea what you are talking about. The council will determine the punishment for your crimes." Davina hissed in a fierce tone.

Neveah frowned slightly at Davina’s words.

Neveah could not get a word out before Davina shoved her to the side and dashed away, heading straight for the audience hall.

"Veah, I think you are in trouble." Estelle pointed out, also staring after Davina worriedly.

"What else is new?" Neveah murmured as she got up to her feet.

’Fairy magic!’ That voice hissed in Neveah’s mind again, reminding her of the words she had just ignored.

"Fairy magic..." Neveah murmured beneath her breath,

These were the first actual words the voice in her head had said, other than just calling her ’Omega’.

Neveah mulled over the words for a moment before it clicked.

"Estelle...back in the forest, the dark fairy, she did something to you that made you attack us... can you tell me exactly what happened?" Neveah asked, thinking back to that night.

"It felt as though I was no longer in control of my own mind or body, someone else was there, pushing me to do things I would never do." Estelle explained.

"Estelle...on that day, you looked exactly as Davina did just now...feral, with a blank gaze." Neveah realized.

"Does that mean...?" Estelle asked, trailing off as she stared at the audience hall again.

"There is only one way to find out. How fast can you get Dante here?" Neveah asked Estelle seriously.

"I will go find him immediately." Estelle assured.

"Find him... and then I need you both to do something for me." Neveah said, her eyes narrowed.

The doors to the audience hall came open and Davina stumbled in, attracting the attention of everyone in the audience hall.

"There... the witness is here..." Weinlor croaked out, still struggling against Kaideon’s grip.

"Kaideon, let him go." Jian ordered.

Kaideon frowned slightly but complied in his own way, tossing Weinlor aside so he crashed to the ground harshly.

Weinlor wheezed, clutching his throat. The other elves rushed to help him up to his feet and he stood with support, glaring daggers at Kaideon.

"Davina, would you relay to the council all you reported to us?" Weinlor permitted, gesturing for Davina to walk to the front of the hall.

"I..." Davina began to say but was interrupted when the doors to the audience hall flung open again and Neveah strode in, all eyes moving to settle on her.

Neveah stood by the door, her arms crossed behind her back as her eyes roamed around the hall for a moment, lingering on a worried Kaideon for a moment long enough to reassure him.

It was a feeling of Deja Vu for Neveah, this council had once again gathered together to discuss her fate for crimes she knew nothing about.

It was not the first time and Neveah had the feeling it would not be the last, but this time was much different from the last, this time she was not some helpless foreigner. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"Veah...you don’t have to be here." Menarx broke the silence first, his tone concerned.

"Why begin a council in the absence of the accused? I also would like to hear about my crimes." Neveah replied as she walked up to the throne, ignoring the elves and Davina.

Neveah stopped right below the platform, lowering her head to a bow.

"If Your Grace would allow, I would like to oversee this trial myself. I have one trial worth of experience to know how this goes." Neveah made an absurd request that further astonished the council.

"I’m all for it." A voice called out her support and for the third time, the doors to the audience hall came open and Lady Kaliana, Imagor’s rider walked in alongside Lord Everon.

"I do not think it a bad idea, if there is truth to any of this, it should be said in Lady Neveah’s presence." Lord Everon supported as he took his place on the council.

"I agree, Lady Neveah has earned the rights to defend her honor." A dragon lord Neveah was not so familiar with also agreed.

No one on the council seemed opposed to Neveah’s presence and King Jian nodded his permission.

"I do not see why not." King Jian agreed.
