Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 379: A Favor ()
Lado did not quite understand Alessio’s meaning but he knew not to ask questions.
"The craftsman reports Your Grace’s order is ready to be delivered, shall I send for him?" Lado asked.
Alessio perked up at the sound of that, he had been waiting for almost a week now, it had taken too long to find a way to even meld the dragon scale to will.
But between making it work or losing their lives, Alessio guessed the craftsmen had chosen wisely.
"I will go myself." Alessio decided as he got up to his feet and was about heading out when he remembered the she wolf Meredith still sat curled up by the side, shaking in terror.
Alessio could delude himself by the familiar hair colour, but nothing else about her was even slightly similar to Neveah.
Her personality was far too timid and all she could do was tremble, not even when Neveah was playing the naive princess was she so easily terrified.
Alessio knew if Neveah had been in the place of Meredith a moment ago, she would have gone for his throat.
She would not have succeeded, but Alessio knew she surely would bet her life on making a good attempt.
’No one can take her place... there is only Neveah in this world that can stand by our side.’ Terran thought to Alessio.
Alessio did not dispute Terran’s words, he also knew them to be true.
"She’s yours." Alessio said to Lado, ignoring Lado’s smirk as he walked out and headed to the craftsman’s workshop.
It was situated in a detached part of the Eclipse Palace that was far away from the main palace and closer to the human settlement.
It was where the gems and precious jewels required by the palace, royals and nobles were exquisitely designed.
With Alpha King Lothaire’s love for balls and public events, the workshop was always busy all year round, ensuring the royals appeared glamorous on every occasion.
It took Alessio a short walk to the stables where he fetched a horse to make the ride.
Alessio rode through the forest path till he arrived at the workshop where he dismounted his horse and a young craftsman rushed out to take the reins.
"Your Grace, my master is right inside." The young craftsman reported.
Alessio strode into the workshop where the head craftsman was leaned over a table, working on what seemed to be a pendant.
He glanced up at Alessio’s arrival, his eyes widening as he bowed low in greeting.
"Your Grace! I was not expecting you, forgive me." The head craftsman quickly apologized for fear of having offended Alessio.
"It is ready?" Alessio asked and the craftsman nodded quickly.
"I am making the last touches to your robes and fitting in the gems, but the royal crown is ready." He reported.
Alessio hummed in response, stepping fully into the workshop, he walked over to a wooden chair by the side and took a seat.
"I will bring it to you now." The craftsman said as he walked over to his closet and pulled out a large chest.
He carried it over and knelt before offering it to Alessio.
Alessio took the box and opened it, picking up the crown within, he examined it closely.
"The strange gem you brought would not melt no matter the intensity of the flame and it was almost impossible to meld." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"I could only get a piece of it inlaid into the center piece." The craftsman reported apprehensively.
Alessio’s attention was focused on the crown, the crown itself was crafted from a gleaming black gem but was extremely light and barely had any weight.
It appeared plain but gave off a regal aura and in the centerpiece of the crown, there indeed was a small piece of the strange scale shaped like a teardrop.
It was embedded into the center piece and gave off a strangely imposing aura that perfectly blended with the the rest of the crown.
When Alessio had ordered for a crown to be made, he was not sure exactly what he wanted to see or what meaning it would hold exactly,
But now, staring at this crown, Alessio understood just what the books meant when they said the Alpha King’s crown told a tale of his dynasty and his purpose.
"Perfect...it is perfect. You have done well." Alessio murmured quietly.
"It is my honor, Your Grace." The craftsman exhaled a relieved breath, bowing low.
Alessio said nothing in response, placing the crown back in the box alongside the rest of the dragon scale, he shut the lid of the box and got up to his feet.
"Send it to my quarters immediately." Alessio instructed, rising to his feet, he strode out of the workshop.
Alessio returned to the palace but he did not head to his quarters or the throne room, instead he headed for his father’s study where the secret entrance to the treasury lay.
Alessio went down the same path he had taken that first time, the path had already become familiar to Alessio since he had been here quite a few times since.
Alessio soon arrived at the secret room hidden in the treasury, stepping in to find it just the way he had left it.
There was the woman laid on the platform, and standing beside her was a young man in red robes.
The robes were plain but there were unique markings embroidered into it, markings that spoke of the witch tribes.
"Alessio...and here I was thinking you had me held prisoner in here." The young man spoke without even glancing sick.
"Karan." Alessio acknowledged.
"It is better here than the dungeons, is it not?" Alessio asked.
"You must believe freeing me from your father’s custody is enough to win you my services."
"I am a warlock, Alessio... It would take a lot more than breaking me out of prison to bargain with me." Karan replied, turning around to face Alessio.
"But favors...that I can do." Karan added.
