Chapter 378: King In The Dark (Ch.378)

~Eclipse Palace, Heart of the Eclipse Domain~

The throne room of the Eclipse Palace was still shrouded in darkness, it seemed this was a sight that had now come to stay.

As would the many changes that were taking place all through the Eclipse Palace.

It was a day to the official coronation of Alpha King Alessio Terran Lothaire,

By this time, word of Alessio’s overthrow had reached all corners of the Eclipse Domain and even beyond to the other three domains. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Of course, no one knew what to make of this development.

It was an internal battle between father and son, and even though the results would affect every Eclipse Pack, how could anyone dare get involved?

On one hand, the entire werewolf realm had been thrown in chaos due to Alessio’s overthrow,

And on the side, the Eclipse Palace bustled with the preparation for the coronation ceremony.

Meanwhile, the power behind all these changes unfolding lay across his throne in the dark hall, his eyes closed in meditation.

One would think he was asleep, but the only indication that he was not was the fact that he was not alone.

Curled up beside him was a female who barely had any clothing on.

Not much of her features were obvious in the darkness, but the one distinct feature was her hair, a shade of gold that was somewhat similar to a certain someone.

"Your Grace, why won’t you look at me?" The female whined.

Alessio’s brows twitched slightly, a tell-tale sign of his displeasure.

He had just been deep in thought, though Alessio could not pin point what exactly he was thinking so deeply about but he surely did not appreciate the interruption.

"What did you say your name was again?" Alessio asked in a low tone, his eyes still closed.

"Meredith, Your Grace." The female quickly supplied.

"Yes, right." Alessio murmured.

"Your father sent you to me as a method of currying favor...you have been so busy fulfilling his will, you forgot to wonder why you have not heard from him...yet." Alessio continued.

"I... I do not understand..." Meredith stuttered out.

"What I mean to say is, I do not appreciate the idea of being manipulated, which is why I already had your father killed for even contemplating it...on the very day you arrived here." Alessio explained in simpler terms.

Meredith froze up in Alessio’s arms, a pained gasp escaping her lips.

"The only reason I have kept you alive is because of your hair color... now, you shouldn’t wish for me to look at you."

"If I do, I shall begin to notice the differences and the color of your hair will not be enough to keep you alive. So stay still... and stay silent." Alessio finished.

Alessio did not truly care what the she wolf made of his words or his revelations, he also did not care much for the muffled sobs that soon echoed through the throne room.

Alessio was just about drifting off to sleep when the throne room came open and Lado walked in.

Lado passed a glance to the sobbing she wolf beside Alessio and then his gaze moved back to Alessio and he lowered his head to a bow in greeting.

"Speak." Alessio permitted Lado to ignore the external presence.

"Your Grace, a messenger has arrived." Lado reported.

"There are hundreds of messengers arriving in these days, Lado. Which in particular?" Alessio asked as he sat up.

Meredith was quick to scramble off the throne to the ground where she curled up on herself and continued her pitiful sobbing.

"From King... Your father, the messenger is from your father, Your Grace." Lado revealed.

"Ahhh... he finally caught on. It took him quite the time." Alessio murmured with a quiet chuckle.

"Shall I send the messenger in? Or does My King have other arrangements?" Lado asked.

"Yes, bring him to me. How could I turn away my father’s messenger?" Alessio permitted.

Lado nodded and for a moment, his eyes glossed over, communicating through the pack link.

Soon, two pack warriors escorted a familiar face in and Alessio chuckled to himself to be faced with his father’s third in command.

The middle aged warrior had been escorted in and while he was chained and restrained by two warriors, he still managed to keep a superior countenance.

"If it isn’t Gamma Edgar, I must admit, when Lado here mentioned a messenger, I never could have imagined it was you." Alessio said in a pleasantly surprised tone.

"Prince Alessio, what manner of depravity is this?! You dare covet your father’s throne?! Have you lost your mind?!" Gamma Edgar demanded, going directly to the point.

Alessio rolled his eyes at the reprimand, leaning back into the throne.

"I did take a look around and guess what? I could not find my father’s name engraved on any part of this throne." Alessio replied casually.

"Do you really believe you can do as you please?! There are hundreds of Eclipse Alphas that answer to your father and all you have is control of Eclipse Fang."

"My King has sent me here to give you a chance to end this madness with your own hands, Alessio...or you will face dire consequences." Gamma Edgar warned.

Alessio sniggered beneath his breath at his father’s threat.

In the blink of an eye,

Alessio had moved away from his throne and appeared right before Gamma Edgar, his claws moving in a flash.

A horrified scream sounded from the she wolf, Meredith as blood splattered across Alessio’s face and over the ground.

Gamma Edgar dropped to his knees, gurgling and in Alessio’s hand was grasped a bloody tongue.

"Now, you go back and tell my father that this is war... and only one of us gets out of it alive." Alessio made clear as he tossed Gamma Edgar’s tongue back to him.

The two warriors dragged Gamma Edgar away and Alessio returned to his throne where he pulled out a handkerchief and wiped his hand slowly.

"My King...Lothaire still lives even after we exposed his travel route... should we not do something to prevent him from returning alive?" Lado asked worriedly.

"I find myself wanting him to return alive... that way, I can show him my new find." Alessio replied with a malicious grin.
