Chapter 728: Chapter 724: Things Remain the Same, People Change (I)

Before the car drove into the Land family villa, Nanny Garcia had already been waiting at the door for quite some time.

"Miss Smith, hope the road wasn’t too congested." Nanny Garcia saw the car stop and hurried over. In recent years, she seemed to have aged quite a bit, her hair showing signs of gray.

"Granny Garcia." Before seeing her, one could hear her voice. Nanny Garcia happily looked behind Sophie Smith and, sure enough, Alexander was there.

"Oh my, Alexander, it’s been two months and you seem to have grown taller. You’re only five and already so tall, you won’t be shorter than young master in the future for sure."

Nanny Garcia picked up Alexander and headed towards the hall.

Sophie Smith stood there for a moment, somewhat dazed.

After a while, she finally moved her steps.

"Nanny Garcia, you should put Alexander down." Alexander was already five years old, growing rapidly in height and weight, and Nanny Garcia, being an older person, appeared to struggle a bit when holding him.

"Ah, I just want to hold him more. In a few years, I might really be too old to move." Nanny Garcia’s eyes showed some disappointment. Sophie Smith said nothing more. As people age, they inevitably experience some melancholic emotions.

In fact, Alexander didn’t particularly like being held. In his mind, he was already a little man; being held like this wasn’t very dignified. But he couldn’t do anything about it. He didn’t want Nanny Garcia to feel it was meaningless either.

Sophie Smith served the dishes that Nanny Garcia had prepared earlier and placed them on the dining table.

Alexander consciously wanted to wash his hands but found he couldn’t reach the sink due to his height.

"Mommy, help me."

Sophie Smith looked at Alexander, who was standing on his tiptoes, stretching his hand as far as it could go, and couldn’t help but laugh aloud.

She bent down and picked him up.

"Look at you, you’re so heavy, Mommy can hardly hold you anymore."

"It’s okay if you can’t hold me, there’s always someone who can," Alexander stated earnestly.

"Who?"

"Uncle Davis."

"..."

Alexander seemed to have a particular fondness for Nolan Davis. Upon mentioning his name, his bright, clear eyes sparkled with excitement.

"Mommy, after having dinner here at Granny Garcia’s, can we stay at Uncle Davis’ house tonight?"

"But..." Sophie hesitated for a moment, looking at Alexander, "but Mommy wants to sleep here tonight."

She expected Alexander to grumble a bit, but he didn’t say anything and went downstairs, heading towards the dining room.

Sophie thought he might be sulking, so she considered going with him to Nolan Davis’ home later.

Alexander’s appetite was quite good that night. After he finished eating, Sophie picked up her bag from the sofa, ready to leave.

"Didn’t you say you wanted to sleep here tonight?" Alexander lifted his dark eyes and looked at her. "Stay if you want."

Nanny Garcia and Sophie exchanged glances, surprised by Alexander’s maturity.

But Alexander didn’t think it was anything special at all; after dinner, a bath, and watching a bit of TV, he prepared to go upstairs to sleep.

"But Mommy, which room do I sleep in?"

Alexander was still somewhat unfamiliar with this house. After all, he had been taken to Europe by Luke Land when he was just a few months old. Later, when he returned to Eastern City, Sophie had never brought him to stay overnight here.

"Come on, Granny Garcia will take you to your room." Nanny Garcia took Alexander’s hand, chattering on the side, "Young Master and Miss Smith prepared a room for you even before you were born."
