Chapter 34: A battle with a Cripple

"Alen?" Marxon’s brows dipped low, "Which Alen?"

"I think he means ’Alen’ boss" Diego said with a small sigh, as if he could immediately tell their intentions.

"Oh Alen? I’m afraid he is indisposed for now, but I’m sure you already knew that since you guys were the ones who put him in that position," Marxon shot Don Angel an accusing look as he finished.

"Don’t look at me, it’s not like I killed the guy. I barely even touched him,"

"You dislocated three different joints in his body,"

"I didn’t know it was your guy at that time to be honest,"

"Of course," Marxon said sarcastically.

"But that doesn’t change the fact that he is still alive, and my friend here has requested to fight him, with any weapon of his choice of course,"

"You are not serious right? How can you expect Alen to have a fight in that condition?"

"I’m sure you have your ways to make that possible. All I’m saying is that it wouldn’t be fair if you say this then you are unwilling to keep to your word,"

"Angel," his voice was dark and ominous, "I don’t know who you think you are or who you think you are talking to but I’m not going to put a man in that condition in a fight after only three days, just for some stupid game. Maybe I should really just kill you now for trying to do something like this,"

"Okay why don’t we leave it up to him,"Don Angel said, "if Alen is in the building let him come here and reject the fight himself. That way we would be left with no other option than to choose a different person,"

That idea sounded like an obviously easier move to just end all this talk so Marxon couldn’t just ignore it.

Although Diego had something to say about it, "boss–"

"Go get him," he said after considering it for a short moment.

"Okay boss," he said with a small bow before leaving.

A short while later Alen limped in with a crutch under one arm, a cast around the other and a white bandage wrapped around his face.

"Boss?" to even speak was difficult for him.

"Alen, I’m sure you have already gotten the gist of it. So what do you say?"

"He agreed to fight me bare handed?"

"Yeah, still with your condition I really don’t expect you to fight. This is more like–

"I’ll do it," Alen said confidently

Marxon’s brows furrowed, "you know what is at stake right?"

"If I lose they get to walk out of here alive but if I win I save the day and I get to have my revenge with my own hands. How can I pass up such an opportunity?"

"Do you really think you can do it in that condition?" Diego asked

"I’ve fucked up the puny rat before I can easily do it again, Boss please just let me do this with my own two hands," Alen bent his head as much as his broken body could allow him.

Vincent had very little understanding of what was happening right now. Even though he had challenged Alen, It was too hard for even him to believe.

’Alen is strong but even him is not that strong, to think he would be so confident to fight against me in that condition. That is simply just... insanity’

’Not only that, the fact that I have gotten even stronger only makes things worse for him’

Vincent was honestly starting to pity Alen. To go against a man in that condition just didn’t seem fair.

’Another issue is Don Angel, how did he know Alen would accept such a challenge or that Alen was even in the building?’

’was it all just a gamble?’

"I guess you’ve got yourself a fight," Marxon finally agreed, there was no going back after hearing the words from Alen himself.

"Diego get him ready," there was darkness in his voice. "We are taking this outside,"

Don Angel took Vincent to a corner,

"Don’t let your guard down, it’s not going to be as easy as you think,"

Vincent noticed them bring in a small box and when they opened there was a small vile inside. It had a purple fluid that was then injected into Alen’s neck. His veins glowed as the fluid surged through his body.

"I thought as much,"Don Angel sighed after watching them do this, "but don’t worry, you’d be fine if you don’t go easy on him,"

"What is that thing?" Vincent asked,

"That is a new drug I heard the Triad recently developed,"

"A new drug? Does the Triad make drugs?"

"Don’t you know, drugs that allow people to fight are very important in our world. That one is even more special as I heard it’s an A-grade energy booster with stabilized morphine,"

"Morphine?"

"Yeah, that means he wouldn’t be able to feel any pain for a while, even his injuries wouldn’t hurt him anymore. It’s a very dangerous substance that can cause major damage to the body because the user doesn’t feel the pain of the injuries he sustains until the body collapses,"

"And it also boosts the energy of the user giving him the ability to fight for long and with increased agility, so believe me when I tell you this isn’t going to be as easy as you think,"

"If you knew that they would use something like this, why did you still want me to pick Alen?"

"Because they would have used it regardless of who you choose, at least now you have a better chance at winning. I don’t know if they’ll let you but try to drag the fight out as long as you can, so that once the drug wears out his body would immediately start to fail,"

’So that was why he made me choose Alen’ Vincent realized. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Okay," he said firmly.

Now inside the fighting arena, the announcers loud voice filled the whole area,

"Ladies and gentlemen, I just received the news that we are about to have a very special event. Where blood is bound to flow. A true battle for survival,"

"Today we have a cub called Vincent, fighting for the life of his and his master the leader of the Yellowsaber gang, vs one of our very own fighting legend, a true gladiator, The Merciless Alen"

Vincent was already standing inside the fighting cage, he was wearing only the shorts he was given for the fight.

When Alen stepped into the ring, the crowd went into a cheerful uproar, chanting his name.

"Alen! Alen!! Alen...."
