No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1886 Hayes Edwards Extra (43)
Grace Winter hugged her toy and went back, sighing with her head down, feeling a little disappointed.
At dinner, Mother Edwards asked about it, "Why didn’t you take Grace along when you went out to play?"
Hayes Edwards replied indifferently, "We’re all boys, she’s a girl, what should we play with her?"
"Didn’t you all used to play together like that?" Mother Edwards said, "Your friends, Little Fatty and Joy, they all like Grace, so why can’t you play together?"
"That was when we were kids, now we’ve all grown up." In any case, he just didn’t want the little tagalong Grace following him, "I don’t want to be laughed at for playing with little kids."
Mother Edwards chuckled but was also a bit annoyed, "You’re still a kid yourself, who’s laughing at you?"
"I’m already nine..." Hayes whispered in defense, "I just don’t want to bring Grace along."
At school, she always followed him around, and he couldn’t shake her off.
Father Edwards also chimed in, "Hayes, you’ve known Grace for so many years, you’re still in the same place now, but have you thought about if one day in the future, you have to part ways, maybe you’ll miss the times you’re together now."
Part ways?
Hayes thought he would love it if the little tagalong kept her distance.
This weekend, Grace didn’t catch a glimpse of Hayes at all. She suddenly felt she preferred school days because at school, she could see Hayes several times every day.
Dawn Light Middle School’s fourth grade had already started assigning homework and scheduling exams.
By Monday, the report cards had already been distributed. The teacher especially reminded everyone that there would be a parent-teacher meeting on Friday, and both the report cards and meeting notices needed a parent’s signature by tomorrow.
Little Fatty came to find Grace to play and also mentioned this matter.
Grace asked, "Did Hayes get first place?"
In Grace’s understanding, Hayes was the most capable among her friends, so she believed he could get first place.
Little Fatty scratched his head, "Well, this..."
How was he supposed to explain that Brother Edwards was again last this time?
"Not bad," he said.
Grace nodded while chewing on her lollipop, "Hayes’s grades must be excellent."
Little Fatty chuckled, "Pretty good, pretty good."
The person whom "pretty good grades" referred to, Hayes, had once again been called to the office for failing a subject.
Three teachers came together, mainly to offer encouragement.
By the time he left the office, the break time was almost over.
The restroom was right next to the office. He went in to wash his hands and when he came out, he saw Grace standing against the wall, fiddling with her hands.
Hayes had just decided to pretend he hadn’t seen her when Grace spotted him.
Her eyes lit up instantly, and her voice was particularly clear, "Hayes!"
Hayes, annoyed, dragged her to a corner of the hallway, "Why are you here again?"
Grace looked at him, her eyes curved in a smile, "I brought you a lollipop."
She pulled out two lollipops from her pocket. These two lollipops were given to her by Helena. She couldn’t bear to eat them all and kept one for Hayes and one for herself.
Grace liked sharing her things with Hayes.
Hayes liked sweets, so he didn’t refuse and asked, "What’s this for?"
"You got first place!" Grace said with a smile.
