Chapter 1885: Chapter 1885 Hayes Edwards Extra (42)

Today, it’s Hayes Edwards’ turn to handle the flag ceremony.

In third grade, Hayes Edwards was already famous throughout the entire school building because of his outstanding looks and "extremely lively" personality, and people would even come specifically to greet him.

Of course, Hayes always had a cold and lazy demeanor, was arrogant and sharp-tongued, which annoyed quite a few people.

Only Grace Winter could tolerate his temper.

Grace Winter’s deskmate always said she had too soft a personality, like a dumpling, never getting angry.

"If I were you, I wouldn’t bother with Hayes anymore, I’d even beat him up!" Grace Winter’s deskmate, Helena, said. Her family ran a small shop, so she always had endless snacks.

Grace Winter thought for a moment and said, "Actually, I think Hayes is pretty good."

Helena was so surprised she forgot to eat her snacks, "What’s good about him? He has a bad temper and is mean to you."

Grace Winter drew circles on the paper with her pencil, "Back in kindergarten, when someone bullied me, it was always him who protected me." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

So she always felt that Hayes was great, and he was good to her too. Maybe sometimes he’d be fierce with her, but it didn’t matter.

After all, she was just a bit clueless.

Helena ate her potato chips and shook her head.

When Grace Winter moved up to second grade, Hayes Edwards’ classroom had already moved to the fourth floor, the top floor of the school building.

It was always quite a workout to go up there.

But Grace Winter still went there, during breaks, during recess, waiting downstairs after school.

Besides Helena, Grace Winter didn’t have many friends, but Hayes had lots of friends; whether in his class or grade, he was very popular.

Many times, Grace Winter would be ignored, only trailing behind them, listening to their chatter and laughter, unable to join in.

Gradually, when people mentioned Grace Winter, they started calling her Hayes’ little sidekick instead of his sister.

Once, a boy from the neighboring class came looking for Hayes and happened to see Grace Winter standing outside the window.

A year had passed, and she had grown a bit taller. Standing outside the window, she no longer just showed the top of her head but could now show her eyes.

"Hey, little sidekick, you’re here looking for Brother Edwards again?"

Now, everyone stopped using Hayes Edwards’ name and called him Brother Edwards. It sounded cooler that way and suited Hayes’ style, so everyone called him that.

Grace Winter had met this boy before, but didn’t have a good impression of him because he would pull girls’ ponytails.

She instinctively stepped back two paces, hands behind her back, "I’m here to see Hayes."

The boy said, "Don’t call him Hayes, call him Brother Edwards, understand?"

Grace Winter didn’t know that and didn’t respond to him. She just turned around and ran off.

A few boys laughed for a while but didn’t chase after her.

"I heard Brother Edwards’ little sidekick has been following him since kindergarten, her brain is a bit..."

The boy pointed to his head; there was no need to finish the sentence.

Someone said, "Probably he lets her follow him because he feels sorry for her."

On the weekend, Grace Winter went to find Hayes Edwards to play, but this time Mother Edwards opened the door.

"Hayes? He just left, said he was going to play basketball with his classmates. Didn’t he invite you?"

Grace Winter hugged the new toy she just bought and shook her head.

Mother Edwards frowned, "What’s he up to now? Shall Aunt Edwards take you down to find him?"

"Aunt Edwards, it’s okay. I’ll come find him to play tomorrow."

There are two days on the weekend; it seems it’s okay if we don’t play together for just one day.
