Chapter 1832: Chapter 1832: Golden Lotus Extra (9)

They would stop and politely greet us.

Hannah hadn’t yet adapted to Brie’s schedule and just turned over in bed at six in the morning.

Arnold Simmons was already awake, but he looked at the person who turned over to the edge of the bed, thought for a moment, then reached out and pulled her back into his arms, closed his eyes, and continued to sleep.

In the yard, the earliest one to wake up was Big Round.

After a night of rest, full of energy.

The courtyard wall wasn’t very high, and an old table was placed in the corner. Big Round jumped onto it and could just poke its head over the wall.

It found everything outside quite novel.

The nearby neighbors, knowing new residents had arrived yesterday, warmly greeted Big Round.

Big Round barked twice, wagged its tail, and its legs restlessly wanted to jump out.

Gold Lotus was woken by the noise, turned over and covered her ears, "Big Round, if you keep barking I’ll kick you out!"

Big Round glanced back at her and continued greeting friends outside the wall.

The big yellow dog, who played with them last time, came following the scent.

Seeing Big Round was still very excited, it directly stood up against the wall, lifted its head, and barked back.

Hey! Friend, long time no see!

Big Round barked back twice.

Gold Lotus, being woken up, looked resentfully at Big Round standing on the table, then chose to scratch at the door to wake up Hannah as well.

Five minutes later, the door opened, but it was Arnold Simmons who came out.

Gold Lotus lowered her head, trying to sneak into the house, but Arnold Simmons blocked her, "She’s not awake yet."

"Woof!" I want to see Hannah.

Arnold Simmons said, "No."

Then he closed the door.

Gold Lotus: "..."

Most of the residents in Brie’s town still relied on cooking food in the traditional way, which looked simple, but it’s only when they tried it themselves did they realize how tough it was.

Arnold Simmons sat on a small stool in the kitchen, his tall frame crouched, looking a bit aggrieved.

Gold Lotus sat by his side, watching him try to start a fire.

In the kitchen were firewood, dry branches, dried leaves, newspapers, and matches, all laid out in front of them.

Arnold Simmons had even specially asked Grandma Li for guidance yesterday, but now half the matches were gone and there wasn’t even a spark.

Gold Lotus looked at him disdainfully, pawed at the matches in his hand, then at the dried leaves on the ground, "Use this, use this."

Arnold Simmons didn’t understand what it was saying, but the conversation flowed naturally, "The leaves are too few, not enough."

Gold Lotus barked twice, "Then use the newspaper."

Arnold Simmons reached for the newspaper, folded it into strips as Grandma Li suggested yesterday, then...

Then what?

An awkward staring match ensued between human and dog.

Big Round also ran in to join the fun, the wind it brought in scattered the carefully stacked dry leaves, instantly turning the kitchen into a mess.

Arnold Simmons: "..."

Gold Lotus: "..."

Big Round: "Woof woof woof!" Sitting very obediently.

When Hannah woke up, Arnold Simmons was still seated behind the stove, a bit of soot on his face, with Big Round and Gold Lotus by his side, both resting their heads on his arm, watching videos on fire-starting on his phone.

Halfway through watching, Gold Lotus excitedly barked, "I’ve been saying use the leaves all along!"

Big Round also barked, though it had no idea what Gold Lotus was saying, nor did it know the trouble it had caused earlier.

There was a place in town to order gas, but it took time for delivery, so they had to make meals by fire in the meantime.

But Arnold Simmons hadn’t expected it to be harder to start a fire than to cook a meal.
