No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1813: Married Life Daily (The End)
A dozen or so people gathered, and just the sound of their conversations and laughter was loud enough to carry into the courtyard outside.
The snow floated gently down, unable to veil the glowing lights of the world.
Hayes Edwards insisted on proving that his singing had improved since before. "I’ve been learning from Mr. Landon for over six months!"
Everyone turned to James Landon.
James Landon said, "I did teach him, but..."
"No ’but’! Come on, Mr. Landon." Hayes Edwards gripped the microphone. "Don’t say ’but.’ Just give me a chance to perform and amaze them!"
Amaze them? 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
More like scare them!
Two minutes into the song.
Matthew Quach clung to Goldie, his little eyebrows scrunched up tightly in waves, his expression earnest. "Sis, this uncle sings so awfully."
Hannah gently rubbed his head and laughed. "Even though it’s not pleasant, maybe we can still give him a chance to perform. How about that?"
Matthew reluctantly nodded.
Mom always said to be tolerant of others.
For the first song, everyone tried to be tolerant.
By the second song, tolerance ran out.
Pillows were hurled onto the stage. "Hayes Edwards! Stop singing! Get someone else!"
The moon had climbed to its highest point in the sky. Outside the window, fresh snow layered the ground while the warm glow of red lanterns cast shadows against swaying branches.
Amidst the crackling sound of fireworks, Matthew was the first to burst out of the room. Goldie perched atop Big Round’s shoulders, looking like a small knight preparing for battle.
"It’s time for fireworks!"
The door opened wide, and light instantly spilled into the courtyard.
Hayes Edwards was even more excited than Matthew, hefting two large bags of fireworks in his hands.
The snow in the courtyard had already been cleared, leaving a perfect open space for setting off fireworks.
Hayes placed the fireworks down, and Matthew ran over to watch, his eyes brimming with childlike wonder.
The fireworks bloomed magnificently in the night sky, scattering shards of light like crushed stars across the world.
Hannah raised her head to look at Arnold Simmons standing beside her, her eyes reflecting the dazzling glow. "Arnold, Happy New Year."
He looked down at her, his voice tinged with laughter. "Happy New Year."
In the distance, fireworks burst into vibrant displays, the sound of celebration filling the air—and her beloved was right before her.
She smiled, her gaze warm and endearing, but under the cover of the night, she pressed a mischievous kiss to the corner of his lips like a little troublemaker.
"Mr. Simmons, you’re still my favorite person this coming year."
She tipped onto her toes and leaned lightly against his shoulder, her breath tenderly brushing against his ear.
He wrapped his arm around her waist, his breathing restrained, his voice hoarse. "And in the years to come?"
Hannah gazed into his eyes, finding her reflection in their depths amidst the sparkling fireworks. "That would have to be... every year you’re with me."
"Alright." He curved his lips into a smile and pressed a kiss to the corner of her eye. "Happy New Year, and I love you."
In the atmosphere of the night, beneath the fireworks blooming into brilliance, the mood turned romantic and entwined, even the wind took on a warm glow, dusting the cheeks and ears in a flush of red.
Hayes Edwards was running around gleefully, like an overgrown child, while Big Round chased after him. "Hey! Everyone come join us for fireworks!"
With the sharp whistle of a skyrocketing firework, the intimate moment dispersed.
Hannah reached out to pat Arnold Simmons comfortingly on the back of his head, suppressing her laughter. "Let’s go. Let’s set off some fireworks too."
They had barely taken two steps when Arnold pulled her back into his arms, holding her tightly.
The kiss he gave her was restrained yet fervent, lingering until he reluctantly let her go, gently ruffling her hair. "Alright, fireworks now."
That night, the sound of fireworks and firecrackers never ceased.
The sky remained luminous, lit by the festive bursts. Everything seemed illuminated in that glow.
The crowd was lively, and the lights shone brightly in every home.
