No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1812: Daily Life After Marriage (40)
"Thanks for the gift, Matthew."
Matthew coughed lightly, his little face a bit red, but still tried to act mature, saying, "You’re welcome. It’s what I should do."
He straightened his small frame, showing he had grown taller—he was a... future grown-up.
Hannah picked up Golden Lotus and asked him, "Do you want to play with the dog?"
Golden Lotus: "..." One day, I will grow up into an adult!
Matthew hesitated for just two seconds before revealing his childlike side, "Sure."
Then he took Golden Lotus.
Golden Lotus: "..." Ha! Human cub, don’t think I’ll surrender to you!
Matthew grabbed some treats for the dog.
Golden Lotus: "Not bad, give me another."
Alexander had only recently returned to the country and just managed to win Crystal back.
While overseas, he had already met Arnold Simmons, so the two were chatting together now.
Thomas Sanders and John Lynch arrived a bit later.
Ever since Arnold retired behind the scenes, Thomas had taken his place, facing an endless flow of paperwork almost every day.
Today was a rare day off for him. As soon as he saw Arnold, he started with, "Do you know how I get through my daily grind?"
Eyes open, eyes closed, it’s always documents, and every now and then, flights between domestic and international locations.
Arnold calmly brewed tea, poured three cups, handed one to Alexander first, and then gave one to Thomas. "You need to toughen up."
Thomas, having rushed in, was already parched. He picked up the teacup and drank, and immediately burned his tongue.
After struggling to recover, he looked up to see the two men’s gazes focused elsewhere.
Following their gaze, he glanced over...
It was pointless to look; he didn’t have a girlfriend anyway!
John remained quiet, even though he had now won the Best Actor trophy. Still, he maintained the same low profile as before. Back when he was being criticized online, the most frequent taunt was that someone with his personality couldn’t possibly make it in showbiz.
The typical reply to that was—how could he not make it? He’s Hannah’s chosen one.
The word "chosen" was used quite cleverly.
This matter had even landed John on the trending list once. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
At the time, John wasn’t highly regarded, and many speculated that Hannah signing him as her first artist must have meant they knew each other beforehand.
Or perhaps there was "an untold little secret" between them.
But all those speculations remained just that—speculations.
For his part, John had never felt the need to explain anything.
Because he always knew that without Hannah, he wouldn’t be where he was today. He was determined to give his all, not just for himself, but to prove to everyone—Hannah absolutely hadn’t made a mistake in choosing him.
Now, he had succeeded.
But in front of Hannah, he was still that quiet, shy boy from back then.
He’d even get nervous, his face flushing red. Unable to address her properly, he awkwardly blurted out, "Hello, Boss."
Hannah was stunned for a moment, and then she snapped out of it, smiling as she responded, "Hmm, Happy New Year."
"Happy... Happy New Year." John smiled bashfully.
He didn’t show a trace of the composure he had on the award stage.
At this moment, Jack Stewart also got up and walked over. John hurried to greet him, "Hello, Boss Jack."
Jack chuckled, "You sure do love calling people ’Boss.’"
John’s face turned crimson; he didn’t even know how to explain himself.
Jack was merely joking and didn’t mean to put him in a tough spot. "Alright, your Boss and your Boss Jack have both left the industry. There’s no need to be so formal."
John nodded obediently, "Got it, Boss Jack."
Hannah couldn’t help but laugh, "Alright, go grab something to eat. Dinner will be ready soon."
