Chapter 1782: Chapter 1782: Daily Life After Marriage (10)

Then Little Belle was brought over.

A husky and a Samoyed—no matter how you look at them, they don’t seem like a match.

But Big Round was completely smitten, circling around Little Belle with a silly grin.

Hannah sat on the grass, chatting with the elderly couple.

From their conversation, she learned that they were both teachers in their younger days, dedicating their lives to education. Now retired, they could finally start living for themselves.

While the life they led wasn’t as colorful and vibrant as that of young people, their daily routine was simple yet peaceful.

Peaceful and fulfilling.

As Hannah spoke, Arnold Simmons was seated near her, listening intently.

His gaze never left her, a slight smile tugging at the corners of his lips, perhaps without even realizing it.

The elderly couple watched them, as if reminiscing about their own youth. "Back when I used to teach, my old man loved sneaking into the back of the classroom to listen. I told him not to come, but he’d sneak in anyway."

When you like someone, when you love someone, it doesn’t take effort—your gaze naturally follows her.

Big Round bit onto a wildflower and ran over to nuzzle against Hannah’s hand.

Hannah took it, snapping the stem of the wildflower, leaving only a bit of it to pin onto Big Round’s head.

Big Round, bouncing like a rabbit, happily hopped over to Little Belle, presenting his head to her.

As if saying, "Do I look more handsome now?"

Little Belle, a reserved "lady," simply glanced at him briefly before turning away.

When night fell and it was time to say goodbye, Big Round appeared reluctant, amusing the elderly couple to no end.

Hannah, unable to pull Big Round away, turned to Arnold Simmons for help.

Arnold Simmons took the leash from Hannah’s hand and called Big Round’s name just once. Without hesitation, Big Round returned.

Hannah: "..."

A little annoyed.

"Why doesn’t it listen to me?"

On the way back, Hannah was preoccupied with the question.

Arnold Simmons took her hand and said, "You’re its owner. Of course it listens to you."

Hannah pursed her lips, her cheeks puffing slightly. "But I just called it earlier, and it ignored me."

Not only did it ignore me when I called, but it ignored me when I tugged the leash as well.

"I figured it out." Without needing Arnold Simmons to explain, Hannah came to her own conclusion. "Because love makes people lose their senses. Big Round is the same way."

Arnold Simmons: "...You’re absolutely right."

That evening, when they returned home, Hannah and Arnold Simmons lay on the roof stargazing.

They’d heard there might be a meteor shower tonight, but the weather wasn’t great, and they weren’t sure if they’d be able to see it.

Hannah adjusted the telescope’s angle several times, but still saw nothing.

Feeling tired, she sprawled on the couch nearby to rest.

Arnold Simmons brought snacks upstairs for her.

Hannah sat up and wordlessly nestled into a comfortable spot in Arnold Simmons’ arms, tilting her face up to look at the pitch-black sky. "I can’t even see the moon."

Arnold Simmons held her close, his warm fingertips lingering on her soft, slightly cool earlobe.

Hannah couldn’t help but laugh from the ticklish sensation. She playfully brushed his hand away and turned to her side.

Arnold Simmons repeated his playful gesture, sliding his hand down to her neck.

The faintly prickling itch was like the gentle night breeze brushing against her face—warm and stifling.

Hannah grabbed his hand and, in mock retaliation, gave him a bite.

Even though she applied some pressure, it didn’t seem to hurt much.

Arnold Simmons let out a low chuckle, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "No more looking for meteors, then."

Hannah sat up, "No more. There aren’t any tonight."

Arnold Simmons reached out, pulling her directly into his embrace. A gentle but firm tug had her settling onto his lap.
