Chapter 1669: Chapter 1669 Arnold Simmons Extra (35)

When facing the young Arnold, Hannah tried hard to make herself very well-behaved.

She was a little sun, there to warm Arnold’s cold heart.

That’s what Hannah told herself, and the smile on her face became gentler as a result.

In just those few seconds, Arnold saw a kind and benevolent expression emerge from the little girl’s smile before him, just like an elder facing... a disobedient child.

"Let’s eat the noodles first," he coughed lightly twice.

Hannah’s face was smiling, obedient and cute, "Okay."

Both withdrew their gazes and lowered their heads.

But Arnold still subconsciously glanced up.

Across the table, he caught sight of the girl’s curled eyelashes; the light-colored eyes beneath them were blurred by shadows, but it was still apparent she was smiling.

Boring and childish.

Arnold withdrew his gaze and silently chuckled.

It was a very pleasant lunch, and when they left, Hannah was still holding onto an ice cream she had eaten halfway through.

Chocolate-flavored, rich and sweet.

She ate it slowly as she walked.

Arnold was waiting up ahead, with two backpacks slung over his shoulder as usual, totally natural.

He waited for Hannah to catch up before saying, "Didn’t you just say in there you couldn’t eat any more?"

"Yeah, I was too full for noodles," Hannah took another bite of her ice cream, "but I can still eat ice cream."

Arnold laughed, "What kind of logic is that."

Hannah bit off the crispy shell of the ice cream, "It’s my logic."

Arnold clicked his tongue, "Fine, your logic."

...

In the afternoon, the exam hall was much quieter.

Hannah went back to her own classroom first to chat with Tessa Thompson for a bit before going to the exam room.

The boy who had deliberately made things difficult for her in the morning now buried his head in his arms whenever he saw her, fearing another beating.

Hannah pretended not to see him, and only went back to her seat after placing her backpack on a table outside the classroom.

Arnold was lying on the desk sleeping, wearing a coat with a hood, facing the balcony outside.

Hannah went to throw away trash at the balcony, and when she looked up, she was met with Arnold’s sleeping visage.

He looked much more obedient with his eyes closed, the cap pressing down on his messy black hair, his long eyelashes slightly drooped, somewhat resembling the noble little prince from fairy tales.

Completely free of the gloominess and depression that would fill his brows and eyes in the future.

Hannah approached the window, crouching down to meet his gaze levelly.

The window pane was like a canvas, reflecting his features.

She reached out to touch it lightly with her hand and then retracted it with a smile, standing up.

By the time Arnold woke up, it was time to start the exam; the student in front of him did not dare wake him up, so he just placed the test paper on the corner of his desk.

Hannah reached out and tugged at his clothes.

He woke up annoyed.

His irritation ebbed away, but as he turned around and met Hannah’s smiling face, he collected the fierceness around him.

"Test paper." She held her blue pen and pointed at Arnold’s desk.

Only then did he turn back, separating the two sets of papers, handed one to Hannah and kept one for himself.

Math was the subject for the afternoon exam.

Compared to the morning’s literature exam, the afternoon was even quieter, to the point where even the sound of flipping papers was scarce.

Some raced through the multiple-choice questions and then slept soundly, while others agonized over tossing dice made of erasers, writing down random numbers as answers for the fill-in-the-blank questions based on the choices they had previously made.

By the end of the exam, many answer sheets were filled with vast blank spaces.
