No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1665 Arnold Simmons Extra (31)
A few minutes later, the proctor gave up on trying to manage the students who continued to do as they pleased.
Not every student at First High School was diligent and eager to learn. Even if the teachers were willing to help, there was nothing they could do if the students were ungrateful, as it wasn’t possible to follow them around 24 hours a day. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
However, what was surprising was Arnold’s behavior; he neither missed the exam nor fell asleep.
Thinking that the student had finally seen the error of his ways, the proctor was moved, but his disappointment returned as he shook his head upon seeing Arnold’s blank paper with only a name and class written on it.
It seems he had thought too much.
However, Hannah’s answer sheet was filled to the brim, the handwriting neat and orderly.
Even though he wasn’t the Chinese language teacher responsible for grading, the sight of such a tidy paper was still pleasing to him.
The two and a half hours of exam time quickly passed, and the papers were collected by the students sitting at the last desk, passing them forward.
When Hannah stood beside him, Arnold noticed for the first time how blatant his blank paper was.
And the girl was still smiling sweetly at him, without scorn or surprise, but it somehow felt irritating.
"You should study hard, every single day."
Somehow, those words echoed in his mind again.
"Arnold, your paper." Hannah tugged at his hat lightly.
Arnold passed his blank paper over without any expression.
After Hannah took his paper, she continued walking forward.
Once the papers were collected, the students in the classroom rushed outside like mad.
As school ended early today, everyone was eager to have lunch, and it was said that today the school cafeteria’s third floor was serving fried chicken and roast chicken.
Because there were so many papers, Hannah stayed to help the proctor organize them for a while, and by the time she returned, the classroom was already empty.
Only one person was still sitting in a corner.
Arnold was playing games on his phone, his two backpacks tossed carelessly on the desk.
Hannah’s backpack was on top, and his was underneath.
One was light blue, and one was black.
Hannah approached him, "You haven’t left yet?"
Arnold turned off his phone and stood up, picking up both backpacks from the desk, "Let’s go, I’m inviting you to lunch."
"You’re inviting me?" Hannah quickly followed him, "But you already treated me once last time."
Arnold walked ahead, not too fast, but taking long strides due to his height, making Hannah quicken her pace to keep up with him.
"Then this time, let’s say you’re treating me."
Arnold hung both backpacks over his shoulders, with the light blue one looking a bit small against him, somewhat mismatched.
Hannah walked behind him, her gaze fixed on her own backpack as she followed eagerly, "Arnold, my backpack."
She wanted to carry it herself.
Arnold glanced over at her, the corner of his lips curved as if he didn’t hear clearly, "What did you say?"
Hannah looked up at him, "I said, my backpack."
The campus was quiet, as the seniors were either in the school cafeteria or had left the campus. The freshmen and sophomores were in their last class of the morning.
Hannah and Arnold just came down from the teaching building, standing on the corridor in a place where the sunshine fell.
The trees planted in the school garden were small, and even with nutrient bags, they didn’t grow much. Their tender green leaves cast a fine small shadow on the ground.
Underneath the tree, the two stood face to face, and the distance between them, not too far or too close, seemed to be wound with threads of melted sugar, winding tightly past her fingertips, towards his heart.
