No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 104: It’s Just Like That
Hannah lowered her head and gave a faint laugh, bitterness snaking through her voice. Her right hand gently caressed the unhealed wound in her palm, "George, could it be that you..."
"Hannah Winter." He suddenly cut her off, meeting her gaze, a thought crossing his mind. He steeled himself and coldly said, "I gave you an opportunity. It was you who failed to seize it."
During their time in Prideful, he had always treated her fairly. He even granted her the top-notch team that was originally planned for Tiffany.
If she had seized the opportunity to advance herself, she certainly wouldn’t be a nobody today.
He owed her nothing.
From beginning to end, their relationship was a clear-cut transaction. It was she who overstepped the boundaries by foolishly fantasizing about being loved by him.
And contemplated harming Tiffany.
How could he tolerate this? Hannah was nothing more than a substitute to him.
He repeatedly reminded himself of this fact, yet he heard her say softly, "Because I’m too greedy, I only wanted your love."
George River knitted his brows, his voice cold as ice, "I will not love you." He paused before adding, "I never will. You are nothing more than a substitute to me. How could I possibly love you?"
With these words, it felt as if he was reminding himself.
Hannah relaxed her body against the wall behind her. Her light-colored qipao outlined her perfect figure, gracefully accentuating her slender, white legs.
The dress suited her remarkably, enriching her charm. However, her eyes welled up with tears, a poignant sadness blending her perfectly with the landscape painting.
A gust of wind swept past, brushing stray hairs across her face.
"George River, will you regret it?"
Opening her eyes, she silently gazed at him, sorrow and bitterness hidden in her gaze.
The surroundings were eerily silent, with only the two of them present.
Her delicate voice faintly drifted to his ears, the memory of speaking to an empty room overwhelming him.
Habit is indeed a terrifying thing.
He subconsciously clenched his fist, suppressing the faint discomfort in his heart, and coldly replied, "No, our relationship was nothing more than a transaction."
In a murmur as if talking to herself, she mumbled, "Is that all it was?"
George River turned his back, taking steps forward, ruthlessly crushing a withered branch on the ground, leaving behind only a heartless word, "That’s all it was."
Hannah should be heartbroken.
The man she once loved was so heartless. Seeing only disdain and impatience in the eyes of the man she had poured her heart into was truly saddening.
Ultimately, her ardent affection had been in vain; not only unappreciated, but also repelling. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Once he left, Hannah immediately dismissed herprevious desolation. A warm and delicate smile replaced her sincere sorrow and sadness.
She stood under the tree, her simple and elegant landscape-patterned qipao painted her as a classical beauty.
From afar, Arnold Simmons couldn’t help but let his gaze linger on her slender waist for a few seconds longer, before seeing her spot him and jog towards him, her cat-like eyes seemingly gleaming.
Spirits evidently lifted, Hannah spread her arms, ready to throw herself into the arms of her sugar daddy.
However, to her surprise, Mr. Simmons sidestepped, dodging her.
Unable to stop in time, she nearly collided with the tree behind Mr. Simmons. She turned her face towards him, puffing up her cheeks in clear displeasure yet still managing to softly say, "Mr. Simmons, you’re here."
