Because Chilian Ying had been soul-searched before, she’d kept an eye out for soul-searching secret techniques. She had collected about six of them now, two of which she had exchanged from the Northern League. As a small party under Wave Listening House, she used this privilege to trade for these techniques with equivalent treasures .

The one Lu Ping used was known as [Dream Talking], recommended to him by Chilian Ying. Although the soul-searching techniques were rare in general, they weren’t too difficult to cultivate, at least not for Lu Ping, who learned it quickly after reading it.

With this knowledge in hand, Lu Ping traveled to the south under the passage of moonlight. Along the way, he evaded several groups of patrolling monsters, delving deeper into the monster-race territory.

The monster race in the East Ocean was primarily led by three races: the land monsters under the Emerald Sea Spirit Snake race, the aerial monsters under the Luan race’s Fire Luan lineage, and the aquatic animals under the Kun race.

Kun Liang, was a rare talent in the Kun race, considered to be a young and strong radical. In his opinion, Emerald Sea Spirit Snakes and Fire Luans were all weaker than the Kuns. Despite their small numbers, fewer than that of an ordinary small tribe, their race had always been the strongest amongst their peers. Thus, they were crowned as one of the three royal races alongside the Emerald Sea Spirit Snakes and Fire Luans.

Kong Liang himself was a famous playboy whose lustfulness ranked at the top amongst the East Ocean monsters. However, he wasn’t one to drown in his lust; he had worked hard to achieve all that he had today, becoming a Third Layer Core Forging Realm Enlightened Master in just a few dozen years, and remaining undefeated among his peers. As such, he looked down and despised those who relied on their backgrounds.

Furthermore, Kong Liang’s lustfulness was due in part to his belief that one of the dominant factors limiting the Kun race from becoming the hegemon—their birth rate was too low. If he could have more children, that would bring him closer to his vision of the Kun race rising above everyone else.

When the human-monster conflict occurred, Kong Liang volunteered to go to the forefront of the battle line. Aside from wanting to hone his skills through battle, he also wanted to eye the beautiful women in the human race.

To him, the birth rate of the human race was extremely terrifying. Perhaps, human females were the key to solving the Kun race’s low birth rate!

On this day, Enlightened Master Sui Ya from the Flying Fish race had invited Kong Liang to his cave-dwelling. Apparently, Sui Ya had captured a batch of human cultivators, including two human females. He wanted to present them to Kong Liang as his fifty-third and fifty-fourth consorts.

Naturally, Kong Liang gladly accepted the invitation and headed to Sui Ya’s cave-dwelling. In the Core Forging Realm, monsters could fully transform into their human forms, and oftentimes, this was their prefered appearance.

Kong Liang stood leisurely on the sea surface, without using a flying mystic instrument. Only the waves carried him forward, and yet, he was no slower than he would’ve been using a flying aid.

Some time later, Kong Liang’s shadow suddenly shivered. He looked back and said to his shadow, "Yue Ying, what’s the matter?"

Strangely, his shadow rose up and turned into a lady in black robes and a matching mask. She looked up at the sky and didn’t answer Kong Liang’s question.

Kong Liang followed her to look up at the night sky and was shocked. Unknown as to when, there were twelve additional moons that had appeared around the full moon. These twelve "moons" shone brightly, and appeared to be surrounding Kong Liang from above.

Kong Liang immediately knew it was an ambush. He narrowed his eyes and raised his voice, "Who do you think you are to ambush me?"

But no one answered his question, only the twelve "moons" reacted by growing bigger and brighter.

"He’s dragging things out just until the moons come closer," Yue Ying said, her tone as emotionless as before.

Kong Liang’s expression darkened. You think there’s no point in replying to a dead man, is that it? So, you intend to actually kill me? How naive!

Kong Liang opened his hand and a gourd glimmering in seven colors rose up from his palm. Yue Ying disappeared back inside his shadow.

As the twelve "moons" descended from the sky and surrounded Kong Liang, the area was fully lit up by their glow, and it was at this time that Kong Liang finally saw their true forms—twelve brightly shining spirit pearls with identical Mystical Inscriptions on them.

These were mystic treasures, and most importantly, a set of twelve mystic treasures!

This is bad… he must be at least in the Mid Core Forging Realm to wield them…

Suddenly, twin bursts of explosions happened on the east and west sides; Kong Liang’s face twisted in anger.

"Looking for help?" an ethereal voice was heard saying.

"Who are you? Show yourself! Do you think the Kun race will let you go after this?"

But Kong Liang never received a reply. He looked around carefully, then abruptly pointed his hand up to the sky, bringing it down at one of the spirit pearls.

Krong

A bolt of lightning struck down towards the spirit pearl!

"[Kui Water Yin Lightning]? You’re indeed worthy of the Kun race’s reputation," the voice said again, but this time with a small trace of amazement.

Generally in the cultivation world, sword practitioners were considered the strongest in offense, whereas lightning practitioners were deemed the most destructive.

Lightning-related cultivation methods and techniques were extremely difficult to cultivate as it required a lightning tribulation in order to fully control the element. It was common for a cultivator to die under their own lightning bolts during cultivation.

Over time, cultivators learned to contain lightning in other mediums to alleviate the pressure on their bodies. The [Kui Water Yin Lightning] was one such famous mini divine ability, which uses Kui Water Essence to cultivate.

When the [Kui Water Yin Lightning] struck down at Lu Ping’s Nascent Primordial Star, he lightly said once more, "[Mountain Repress]!"

Immediately, an immense pressure appeared above the Nascent Primordial Star, the air stagnated as if solidified and the [Kui Water Yin Lightning] was stopped mid-air. A moment later, the lightning dissipated from the atmosphere.

Kong Liang’s face darkened like the night sky. He cast a series of hand signs to call down another three [Kui Water Yin Lightning] at the Nascent Primordial Stars. Pointing at the gourd above him, a burst of gale, a stream of water, a blast of fire, a wave of cold mist, and a golden sword flew out one after another from the gourd.

Then, Kong Liang took out a fan and blew the five items away.

The howling gale raised a high tide that crashed down from above; the water swirled violently to form a strange pulling force that tried to tear the formation of the twelve spirit pearls; the wind fanned the flames and burned towards the spirit pearls; the cold mist gradually disappeared, while the sea surface beneath the spirit pearls started to freeze and the golden sword shot out directly to the spirit pearls.

Each and every attack was no weaker than a mini divine ability. Kong Liang had once used this combo attack to kill a Fifth Layer Core Forging Realm Enlightened Master while he was still in the Third Layer. This had shocked his monster peers and spread his fame among the monster race.

Kong Liang was confident that even if he couldn’t break the spirit pearl formation, he could at least force an opening for him to escape. As long as he could get out, nothing could stop his tracks. And once he returned to his base, he could easily gather a dozen Enlightened Masters to hunt down this brat.

However, Kong Liang didn’t expect that chance would never come.

"[Ocean Suppress]!"

At that instant, the sea waves stopped and flattened out like a water mirror; the lightnings, gale, water, fire, and ice were cut off from Kong Liang’s divine revelation, while the golden sword also froze in mid-air.
