Chapter 256: A raven’s pair quest [13]

"Let’s bring that rabbit back with us!" Lala squealed, momentarily forgetting that a particular someone could hear her musings.

Though it was still enormous, this rabbit was significantly smaller than the other rabbits they had seen.

It was still towering over them easily, but it was clear that it was nowhere near the size of the other monsters, with it curling its long legs protectively around the dark skinned male, pulling him closer to its soft fur, its expression almost maternal.

Alithe’s gaze was fixed on the male, his own eyes wide with surprise, disbelief, and relief.

The male met Alithe’s gaze, his expression showing signs of distress, his eyes glistening with tears, the red irises almost glowing in the dim silvery light, looking as if he was on the verge of sobbing, but his gaze held only hope.

Then, snapping out of his stupor, Alithe started struggling against the vine, his movements desperate, but the vine only tightened his hold on him, the tendril-like structure gripping him with increasing strength, holding him in place.

Coco stared at the rabbit, her gaze fixed on the creature, before she started walking towards it, her steps slow and cautious.

As she moved, a vine shot up from her previous spot in front of the door, the green tendril snaking its way towards the door knob and curled around the knob, securing the door, the vine’s grip forming a makeshift lock.

The quest that I need to bring one of the offsprings back with me. Coco thought as she stopped in front of the rabbit and the dark skinned male, her gaze shifting from one to the other.

"Let the offspring smell you first, Coco." Lala said.

Coco held out her hand towards the rabbit, her movements slow and gentle, following what the garden fairy advised her to do.

The rabbit stared at her, its confused gaze turning curious.

He sniffed at her hand, investigating her fingers warily and Coco remained still, her hand extended towards the rabbit, waiting for its reaction.

Slowly, the rabbit leaned into her hand, pressing his fuzzy little nose against her palm, his tiny snout twitching as he sniffed her curiously, its large ears twitching curiously.

All of a sudden, the rabbit released its hold on the dark skinned male and lunged forward, its massive body quickly closing the distance between it and Coco, taking the dark skinned male by surprise.

With surprising agility, the rabbit wrapped its short arms around Coco, enveloping her in a tight, warm, and soft embrace.

The rabbit buried its fluffy head against her chest, its body snuggling against Coco in a tight embrace.

The rabbit’s warm fur felt soft and fluffy against her skin, its strong muscles beneath the fur almost like a muscular, fluffy pillow.

Coco tensed up, her muscles coiled, ready for anything and instead of returning the hug, she summoned out a slim green vine and covered Alithe’s nose, the tendrils covering his nostrils, effectively muffling him.

At the same moment, another tendril shot out and snaked around the dark skilled male’s face, covering his nose as well.

Both of them stood still, their breaths stifled. free𝑤ebnovel.com

The rabbit took no notice of her actions, its focus solely on Coco, the rabbit nuzzling against her neck in an almost affectionate manner.

I don’t want to bring anything back with me because it will increase the possibility of the farming rabbits hunting me down, but.. Coco’s lips pursed and looked at Lala, the garden fairy understood immediately.

"Great, now stay still." The fairy started rubbing her hands together, making red dust fall from her rubbing palm and it fell quickly on the floorboards.

Lala summoned a flower that was as tall as the rabbit.

The garden fairy pressed her palm on the petal, and with a couple of taps, it unleashed a dozen drops of pollen that slowly fell onto Coco and the rabbit.

The pollen had an almost mesmerizing effect, and before long the rabbit’s eyes grew heavy as it slowly drifted off to sleep.

Alithe and the male stared at her in surprise, their eyes wide.

They were expecting something else, perhaps a fight, but instead, Coco had used a plant.

The two of them stood there, silent and taken aback, but the vine holding them captive had released its hold, leaving them free to move.

The rabbit lay sleeping peacefully, its head resting heavily on Coco’s shoulder.

Coco picked up the sleeping rabbit and threw it over her shoulders like a backpack, being careful not to be too rough so she wouldn’t wake up the rabbit.

Alithe helped the dark skinned male to his feet and supported him as they started moving to the door, moving swiftly, their steps silent, being cautious as to not wake up the sleeping rabbit.

The rabbit’s long legs hung down, its head lolling gently with each step as Coco reached the door.

She released the doorknob from the vine, the tendril unwrapping itself from the door handle, then she quickly slipped out of the house, being as quiet as she could to avoid making any noise.

She moved as silent as a mouse, her footsteps light and quick while she and Alithe made their way back to the alley they had come from, the darkness of the night enveloping them as they disappeared into the shadows.

Coco and Alithe walked towards the cobblestone wall before Coco summoned a vine, the green tendril shooting up from the ground.

Coco and Alithe climbed the vine, their grips tight as they perched on it upright, their feet balancing on the sturdy tendril before the vine coiled upwards, stretching until they had reached the top of the wall.

Both of their feet planted firmly on top of the wall before they jumped off towards the other side.

Their bodies plummeted down towards the ground, but like clockwork, a vine shot up after them, securing around their waists.

They landed safely and immediately ran away from the wall, never looking back.
