New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 252: A raven’s pair quest [9]
Chapter 252: A raven’s pair quest [9]
Coco ignored Alithe’s reaction once more and wrapped her arm around Alithe’s torso in a tight hold, pulling him closer to her and anchoring him against her.
"Coco? Wait, Coco— mmph." Alithe tried to speak and before Alithe could even pull away, she covered his mouth, silencing any protest he might have.
Then, without hesitation or any warning she jumped off the cliff, taking him with her.
Alithe’s eyes widened in fear and surprise, his body tensing at the sudden action, she pressed her hand firmer to his mouth, muffling any sound he might make with her palm.
The wind rushed past them, the sound of the air rushing past them like a roar in their ears as they plunged downwards through the air, the wind rushing past them.
"Mmmmmph!" Alithe let out a muffled yell as they plunged towards the ground, but Coco’s hand held firm over his mouth, muffling any sounds he was making, his hand shooting up to her wrist.
Alithe struggled in her grip, his eyes wide with horror and face pale with terror as he realized that they were already free-falling.
He yelled again, his voice muffled and unintelligible, but her hand remained over his mouth, muffling his cries.
He tried to free himself from her grasp, his body struggling desperately, but Coco’s grip was like iron, and she held him tightly, her arm wrapped firmly around his torso and muffling his panicked yells.
Despite his struggles, Coco’s grip remained unshakeable, her eyes fixed on the ground as they continued their rapid descent.
With each passing second, the ground beneath them loomed closer and closer, and Alithe’s struggles became more desperate, his body thrashing and kicking wildly in her grip, however, Coco’s hold on him remained tight, her grip like iron as they plummeted towards the ground.
"Mmmph!" Alithe let out another muffled yell, his eyes glossing with tears, knowing that they will hit the ground soon.
If he knew that Coco would act as reckless as this, then he wouldn’t have asked the village chief for help!
He will die before he could reunite with his mate at this rate!
Coco kept her gaze on the ground, counting in her mind as they grew closer and closer.
Without a word, Coco loosened her grip on Alithe’s torso, her arm sliding down to wrap around his waist instead and made sure that her arm around his waist was tight.
As they drew ever closer to the ground, a vine suddenly shot up from the ground far below them, its long length snaking rapidly towards them in a blur of green.
"Mmph!" Another yell came out of Alithe’s mouth, his expression similar to one of horror and shock since the vines seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.
Coco’s hand remained clamped over Alithe’s mouth, her eyes narrowed with concentration as she watched the vine approaching and just before they hit the ground, the vine coiled around her, catching them in a tight grip.
The vine snaked its way around Coco’s waist, catching her like a net and stopping their descent abruptly.
Alithe let out a gasp against her palm as their fall suddenly stopped, the sudden halt sending his body in a jolt and shaking everything inside his body.
The corner of Coco’s lips twitched in satisfaction, loving the way that she got used to summoning the vines even if she was far from the ground.
It was hard at first and she summoned the vines unconsciously, but now? She summoned the plant like it was just another normal night where she’s taking her pet plant on a stroll.
The vine slowly lowered Coco and Alithe to the ground with surprising gentleness, its coils slowly letting out their tension until they were safely on the ground.
It unwound from their bodies and withdrew, Coco placed her hand on the green length for a moment before disappearing back into the ground as if it had never been there at all— pleased to be used by its summoner.
Coco slowly released Alithe, her hand dropping away from his mouth and immediately stepped away, giving him space to catch his breath and recover from the adrenaline rush.
Now, Coco knows that Alithe is a bird hybrid— a raven— just like the village chief, but only because of the scroll.
Although, don’t birds get used to the feeling of free falling from a great height because they can fly? So, why does Alithe look so shaken up?
Coco blinked and stared at Alithe.
Alithe was gasping, sucking in deep, ragged breaths as he tried to recover from the adrenaline rush of the jump, his heart pounding in his chest.
He stared back at Coco with wide, disbelieving eyes, his expression one of pure shock and disbelief at what she had just done.
He is a bird hybrid, but that doesn’t mean he can use his wings anywhere and anytime!
So, the fact that Coco jumped off the cliff, trusting a random plant to catch them at the bottom was enough to send him up to the sky, the heaven’s gate wide open for him, welcoming him.
Coco huffed, not sure what to do with the hybrid.
He can take care of himself and catch up to me once he’s done. Coco thought to herself and turned away, summoning the quest scroll in front of her and started reading the details once again.
Alithe continued to stare at Coco in disbelief and felt like he was going crazy when he saw that she was already walking away, her strides long and quick, as if nothing had happened, like it was a daily occurrence for her.
"This woman sure has the guts to do reckless things." Alithe grumbled, his eyebrows furrowed.
However, his grumbling stopped when Coco turned back to him, her expression serious and solemn, her finger beckoning him to come over.
Alithe knew that something was wrong so he immediately came over, only to get yanked by his collar.
Just what is her problem?!
