New World, New Life: I Became A Bigshot In The Ancient World-Chapter 305: BANNED FROM PRACTICING MAGIC
Once the twins were done putting the blender back together, they got up to leave.
But before they could even take a step—
Whoosh!
Crash!
Thud!
The three of them quickly looked in the direction of the door, stunned.
"Ow!" They heard a dull sound of pain.
Aristia and Owen exchanged a glance, then quickly moved towards the door.
Heidi and Penelope snapped out of the stunned state they were in and quickly followed Aristia and Owen out of the room.
Just a few doors away from Aristia’s room, one of the room doors was wide open. The door seemed to have been pushed open with such force that it hit the wall moved to close itself.
Owen quickly held the door open to prevent it from closing back.
Aristia and the twins also arrived, stepping tentatively in front of the door.
"Uh..." Penelope trailed off, looking at the state of the room.
Lying sprawled on the floor was none other than Kai, covered with a duvet.
His room... gosh, his room was in a state of complete disarray.
It looked like a storm had just passed through his room. Like a giant, sweeping tornado had angrily decided to make his room its personal playground.
Owen removed the duvet from Kai’s head, uncovering his face.
Kai’s eyes rolled up from where he lay on the ground, his eyes catching an upside down view of them.
He blinked, feeling a bit confused. He had been caught off guard by what happened.
"What happened here? Your room looks like it just endured a storm." Aristia asked.
A nervous smile appeared on Kai’s face.
"What were you doing?" Owen asked.
"I was practicing my wind control." He said.
"Well, you seem to be good at controlling storms." Penelope said, controlling her laughter.
Her sister jabbed her, but it was obvious she was also trying hard not to laugh.
They had been here for a few days and knew that Kai was a mage.
Kai pouted.
Owen helped him up.
"It got a little out of control." He said.
"A little?" Aristia couldn’t help but ask.
His bookshelf was overturned and the books lay sprawled. Some of the windows were open, some had cracks, and a few had actually broken.
His bed was a complete mess, with the bedding landing a few feet away. Not to mention the duvet had landed on his face.
There was a bowl on the ground, also overturned.
Thankfully, it was a wooden bowl. But it seemed to have water in it as there was a small puddle of water beside it.
A few tables and chairs, and even the sofa were no longer in their original positions.
Kai chuckled nervously.
"Okay, maybe a lot."
"Are you alright, though?" Aristia asked. She remembered he had yelled in pain just a moment ago.
Kai nodded, then lightly touched the back of his head. He slightly winced.
"You’re hurt," Aristia said.
"There’s no way he wouldn’t be. The storm probably picked him up from wherever he stood and threw him down there." Owen said. It was so funny just imagining it.
Kai glared at him, but his face turned red. Because... it was true.
"You’re fortunate it didn’t throw you out the window." Heidi said.
Kai didn’t respond. He had just been too stunned to react when the wind threw him on the floor, but if it had pushed him outside, he would have been able to land safely.
"What in the heavens happene—" Jacqueline’s voice sounded just as she reached the room.
"Oh my!" She said, staring at the condition of the room with disbelieving eyes.
Just then, Catherine, Wilson, Alaric, Henry and Adeline entered the room. They had heard the loud sound and rushed toward the room.
Alaric’s jaws went slack, his eyes snapping to Kai, speechless.
Everyone could guess what had happened.
Wilson turned away from the cracked and broken windows with glass beneath them and pinched the bridge of his nose.
He glanced at Kai.
"Kai."
"Yes, your highness...?" Kai answered nervously, turning to him.
"You will no longer practice inside the mansion." He said.
He was not only banning Kai from practicing wind magic in the mansion, but all forms of his magic.
What if he flooded the mansion instead?
Kai nodded. "I understand, your highness."
"I’ll have a servant come to clean up." Henry said.
The adults soon left, leaving the children.
"Let’s leave. A servant, or maybe its better to say servants, will come to clean up. Let’s not hinder their work." Aristia said.
She turned to Kai.
"And let’s get your wound treated." She then muttered under her breath. "Let’s hope you don’t get a concussion. That seemed like a hard hit."
"And check if his brain received any damage." Alaric said mercilessly.
Kai, "..."
They left the room just as servants entered to clean it up.
Heidi and Penelope turned to Aristia.
"We’ll put this back." Heidi said, referring to the blender.
Aristia nodded and the twins entered their room to put the blender back. They had been able to finish the blender today in just a few hours after leaving Aristia’s room.
They quickly put down the blender on the table beside a few tools and left the room.
Just as they opened the door, they saw Jacqueline standing in front of the door, looking like she had just been about to knock.
"Mother." The twins said together.
"Heidi, Penny. It’s almost time for dinner. Are you hungry?" Jacqueline asked. "Princess Aristia requested for some snacks for everyone."
The girls shook their head.
"No, we’re not hungry. But we can have snacks." They said, coming out of the room.
"Okay, okay." Jacqueline said with a wide smile. "Princess Aristia and the others have gone to the dining."
"We’ll eat a little, to have room for dinner."
Heidi said.
They really weren’t hungry and could wait until dinner time, but they could have a little bit of snacks.
Since coming to the mansion and discovering their real parents, they usually had dinner with their parents.
Jacqueline smiled, "Okay. Oh, that reminds me. Your classes will start soon. Since you’re both unable to read, we’ve arranged a literacy tutor for you."
"Okay, mother." Penelope said.
Jacqueline left to continue her duties while Heidi and Penelope headed toward the dining room.
They entered the dining room, seeing Aristia and the others seated around the table and talking.
When they entered, those in the dining room turned at the sound of the door opening and closing.
"You both took so much time in just keeping the blender." Owen said.
"We were talking to our mother." Penelope said.
The kitchen maid who was given the task of preparing the snacks entered the dining room with Adeline.
She bowed and placed the tray she carried on the table. Adeline carried drinks.
The kitchen maid left after giving a short bow.
The children all took a snack and munched on it.
"Mm," Kai said, relaxing in his chair.
Adeline left the room too.
Not long after, she returned holding a box in her hand. She had gotten the box from Jacqueline.
The box was similar to the one in Aristia’s room, but this one was a bit larger.
She placed the box on a chair and turned to Kai.
"Let me take a look at your injury." She said. She needed to check him now and give him treatment.
Kai nodded and a bit reluctantly put down the pastry in his hand.
Adeline moved his hair to the side. Kai’s head wasn’t bleeding, but there was a bump.
She touched the bump lightly and Kai winced.
"It’s not bleeding, but it’s a bit swollen. I’ll apply some ointment to reduce the swelling." Adeline said, taking out ointment from among the bottles in the box.
After applying ointment to Kai’s head, she also applied it to his neck and parts of his face.
Kai could be said to have been forcefully thrown on the floor. There were some objects that would have injured him.
There were a few small cuts on his face, and a bruise had formed on the back of his neck.
Once she was done, she returned the ointment to its position and left the dining room to return the box.
"You need to be careful when practicing your magic," Aristia said. "Even though Papa asked you to do it outside from now on."
She could almost imagine another incident like today’s happening outside and a tree flying somewhere, maybe even falling on Kai, or hitting the mansion, injuring someone else, or even flying out of the mansion’s grounds to the outside.
Of course that last part was a bit of an exaggeration, but who knew? This was wind magic!
Kai nodded seriously. "I know. I’ll be more careful next time so that this kind of thing won’t happen again." He said.
Not only was his head hurting, even though it was now better after Adeline applied ointment, but even his back now hurt from the collision.
Minutes after they finished the pastries, it was time for dinner.
