New World, New Life: I Became A Bigshot In The Ancient World-Chapter 304: HAD THEIR BRAINS BEEN EATEN
"Do you want to try?" Vivian asked. The question was calm and without a hint of threat, yet Annie took a step back and her eyes widened for a second.
She quickly recovered, glared at Vivian, but stomped out of the room with loud, heavy steps that didn’t even make Vivian flinch.
As soon as the door banged shut following her sister’s figure, Vivian released a small sigh.
Who knew mentioning Aristia would do the trick. Hmm, it really did feel like protection. At least her sister would be mindful and not enter her room carelessly, even if it was just a bit.
She quickly locked the door to make sure no one else could come in, and turned around, then she moved quickly towards her bed.
She crouched down and lifted the rug even though she found no signs of tampering, then uncovered the secret space.
It wasn’t the first time her sisters had broken into her room ever since everyone found out that she had become ’friends’ with Aristia, from the Quentin Fief to the capital.
They recklessly invaded her privacy without hesitation! They would search for any gifts they could find because they knew that a gift from a princess wouldn’t be shabby.
She relaxed when she saw that the things inside were still there. There were a few items, including gifts sent by Aristia.

After Vivian left, Aristia remained in the balcony, thinking a bit.
She really hoped that Vivian would agree. If she didn’t, then well, it wouldn’t really matter. It would be no different from her not existing.
But if she did agree, then she meant every bit of what she said.
"Princess, about Miss Quentin being able to hide her presence..." Adeline said but stopped there, not continuing further, but Aristia understood.
She nodded in confirmation. "I didn’t make it up. It’s true."
Adeline nodded. She didn’t doubt Aristia’s words or judgement. She just wanted to confirm.
She had noticed from Vivian’s reaction, and her princess didn’t just make baseless conclusions. If she said that, then she must have been absolutely sure. Adeline was sure of it.
Another reason why she didn’t doubt it was that she herself couldn’t easily sense Vivian’s presence. The little girl’s presence was just faint.
How could a little girl be capable of hiding her presence? That wasn’t normal, so when she heard Aristia mention Vivian having the ability to do so, it finally made sense.
It was very rare for someone to have an ’ability’, even rarer than having Mana. It was like the Mana users who had the ability to use mana or control elements, but this was different.
Adeline understood why Aristia wanted Vivian Quentin as one of her people.
It was just that with time, the people around Aristia seemed to only increase. It was just two years, and yet, there were already four people by her side, not counting the young masters and misses from other noble households.
Adeline was lost in thoughts as she quickly cleared the table.
Aristia had singlehandedly finished the remaining snacks and fruits alone, finally downing them all with tea.
After her food had digested a bit, Aristia left the balcony, patting her stomach and burping contentedly.
Just then, a knock sounded on the door.
"Come in," Aristia said, looking to see who wanted to come in.
The door opened and Owen entered the room.
Seeing Aristia, he pointed with his thumb behind him and said while walking towards her.
"I saw Vivian Quentin leave," Owen said, watching Aristia’s expression. "Did she agree?"
He hadn’t been able to glean anything from Vivian’s expression. Her face was too blank to reveal anything.
He could only wait and talk to Aristia. He knew about the letter Aristia had asked Millie to deliver to Vivian Quentin.
Aristia shook her head. "Not yet. She came today because her mother forced her to."
Owen hadn’t really met Vivian Quentin’s parents, but he understood her situation at home and her parents’ characters.
Before Owen could say anything else.
"Princess! Princess Aristia!" Two voices called out simultaneously.
Both Aristia and Owen turned around at the same time, watching as Heidi and Penelope who had seen Aristia hours ago tumbled into the room, excitement on their faces.
Aristia and Owen exchanged glances. If not for the excitement practically bouncing off the sisters’ voices as they called Aristia, and their widely smiling faces with eyes sparkling, they would have worried that something had happened.
Owen raised an eyebrow, while Aristia asked.
"What is it?"
"Princess." Heidi and Penelope stopped in front of them, their hands resting on their knees as they gasped for air.
It was obvious they had run the whole way over from somewhere.
"We’ve done it!" Penelope said.
"Done it?" Aristia asked with a confused face, then realized. "You mean..."
Heidi bobbed her head like a chicken pecking rice. "Yes. The food blender. It’s not yet perfect, but it’s good!" She said, pointing at Penelope’s hands.
Aristia became distracted.
[Hmm... Heidi’s nickname can also be Hei Hei. Heidi, Hei Hei. Reminds me of the chicken in M*ana.] Aristia couldn’t help thinking. [Oh, I’m sorry for comparing you to Hei Hei, Heidi. It’s just so...] She apologized internally, feeling like Heidi would be offended if she knew.
But it soon occured to her what Heidi had just said.
Only then did Aristia and Owen notice that Penelope was carrying something in her hands.
The blender’s main body was made of straight glass. Its base was made with a material similar to plastic, but not quite. It looked quite similar to a modern blender.
[So fast.] Aristia thought, marvelled at how quickly the girls had completed it.
"How is it?" Penelope asked with excitement.
Aristia turned her attention away from the blender and back to them.
She smiled widely and nodded in approval. "It looks good. Good work, girls." She wasn’t stingy with her praise.
"Thanks," Penelope beamed.
"The part we’ve not exactly gotten right is getting it to work now. We’ve got the ropes in place, but we haven’t figured out how to get it moving." Heidi explained.
The girls got to explaining how they had constructed the blender, even dismantling it as they explained with tools neither Aristia nor Owen knew where they carried them out from, pointing at the ropes.
As they explained, Aristia analyzed in her head. [Oh. That’s right. They’ve gotten the mechanics. So the problem now is how to get it working. About that...]
She rubbed her chin in thought.
Heidi and Penelope finally finished their explanation, and they looked at Aristia, wanting to know what she would say.
Aristia looked at them.
"Do you have a solution in mind?" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
The twins nodded.
"Yes." Heidi said.
"But it’s a little difficult." Penelope continued with a bit of a hesitant expression.
"How so?" Owen asked.
"Well, you see this?" Heidi asked, tapping a spot at the bottom of the blender.
"This connects the blender to the part that will get it working. We’re still making it." Penelope said.
Owen frowned. "Wait. I thought you just said you didn’t know how to get it working?" He asked.
Owen couldn’t help but wonder if the sisters’ brains had been eaten by their inventions. How could it be possible that they said that they didn’t know how to get the blender working, yet they were still making a machine that would make it work? It just didn’t make sense!
The twins glanced at his straight face, but clearly saw the blatant disdain in his eyes.
They rolled their eyes, saying at the same time.
"It’s complicated."
They were just a second away from completing the words: It’s complicated. We don’t expect you to understand.
Owen was about to retort when Heidi turned to Aristia, causing him to swallow the words on the tip of his tongue.
"You want to use the blender soon. Using the blender this way will take some time. We have to finish inventing this part..."
Aristia understood. She had told the sisters that she would prefer to use the blender sooner rather than later.
Heidi was saying now that the machine they were still inventing would take some time and didn’t know if anything could be done.
Aristia looked at them. "I can’t wait for the machine. But I think I can come up with something. In the meantime, continue with your invention."
"Machine..." The three of them said, the word sounding foreign on their tongues.
It was an odd word and they had never heard of it before, but it fit perfectly. Now they couldn’t think of a better word to describe the inventions with.
"Okay, princess." The twins nodded, casually sat down on the soft rugged floor, and quickly got to reassembling the blender.
Owen watched them with a bit of interest.
Once the twins were done putting the blender back together, they got up to leave.
But before they could even take a step—
Whoosh!
Crash!
Thud!
The three of them quickly looked in the direction of the door, stunned.
