Necromancer: I Am A Disaster-Chapter 689: Jiang Yi Never Existed
A blood-red curtain of light surged skyward, shattering the original formation of Fortress No. 9. It pierced the heavens, staining the already dim sky of the Dimensional Battlefield crison.
In an instant, a nauseating stench of blood filled the air.
Meng Anwen’s expression darkened, “There’s more than one formation!”
His senses spread outward. As the blood formation in Fortress No. 9 activated, the blood formations in Fortress No. 8, Fortress No. 7… every fortress responded in turn.
Fortress No. 9 was not unique. It was merely the trigger.
As a God-level Formation Master, he had stood guard here for years without detecting any hidden formations.
There was only one explanation: the one who laid these formations far surpassed him.
At the heart of the blood formation, Jiang Yi licked his lips in ecstasy, “How is it? Surprised?”
“The reason you never sensed these blood formations is simple; your level is pitiful.”
“But don’t be too shocked. The real spectacle is just beginning.”
Jiang Yi stomped his foot.
A thunderous boom erupted. Heaven and earth trembled violently.
Beyond the fortresses, pillars of crimson light shot into the sky one after another as formations surfaced from beneath the Dimensional Battlefield.
Blood formations… they were everywhere.
As far as the eye could see, the Dimensional Battlefield had turned scarlet.
Meng Anwen connected with the fortresses’ internal formations and saw the full picture.
A colossal network of blood formations now blanketed a vast area, containing an unimaginable amount of power.
This power was the Dimensional Battlefield’s accumulated essence. Over countless years, the blood of fallen experts and monsters had been silently absorbed and stored, waiting for this very moment.
Jiang Yi laughed wildly, “Look carefully!”
“Exactly 999 blood formations. You failed to notice them for all these years.”
“Too weak… humans are truly incompetent!”
Meng Anwen’s voice was icy, “Jiang Yi, what are you trying to do?”
Jiang Yi ignored him, muttering instead, “I should have ascended to Transcendent God 600 years ago. It was the fault of those fools in the Abyss and those few cowardly humans.”
“They fled when I was surrounded back then. If they hadn’t, I would’ve gathered enough blood long ago.”
“It’s your fault. All of you.”
“Fortunately, I am imperishable. I left a contingency. Today, I return as king.”
“After this, I will ascend to Transcendent God and become the ruler of the human race.”
Meng Anwen said gravely, “Attempting advancement through blood formation… you may not succeed.”
“Short-sighted fool!” Jiang Yi snapped, “You understand nothing. Blood formation was never meant for someone like you. I created it. Only I can command it.”
Meng Anwen’s heart sank, “Blood formation first appeared 800 years ago. Jiang Yi wasn’t even born then. Who are you?”
Jiang Yi burst into laughter, “Who am I? Merge with me, become my avatar, and I’ll tell you.”
“A level 96 Formation Master isn’t impressive, but it’ll suffice.”
“As my avatar, I can push you to Transcendent God-level.”
Lin Moyu felt a chill. Jiang Yi was speaking far too much.
He said in a low voice, “Teacher, he’s stalling!”
Meng Anwen reacted instantly, “Attack!”
Yan Kuangsheng and Bai Yiyuan moved at the same time.
Yan Kuangsheng’s blade slashed downward, releasing a black torrent of murderous aura infused with the law of slaughter.
Bai Yiyuan’s fists descended from the sky with overwhelming force.
Meng Anwen pointed forward; the Shenxia Tower blazed as a formation materialized, unleashing a myriad of weapons toward Jiang Yi.
Jiang Yi did not bother to move.
Standing within a pillar of crimson light, he appeared clad in invincible armor.
The three attacks struck the crimson light and vanished like stones sinking into the sea, utterly ineffective.
Jiang Yi said coldly, “Useless. With your meager strength, you cannot even break the blood formation, let alone touch me.”
“Wait quietly while I ascend. When I reach Transcendent God-level, I’ll deal with you one by one.”
His gaze shifted to Lin Moyu.
“Young one, I remember you. You were the one who delivered the Dragon Bead to Antares, weren’t you?”
“Thank you. Without you, my resurrection would have taken much longer.”
“Antares is powerful, but he only makes deals. He won’t interfere here. You’re on your own now.”
Meng Anwen and the other two unleashed a relentless barrage of attacks, yet the blood formation stood like an impregnable tortoise shell.
Lin Moyu’s eyes were in deep thought. He replayed every word Jiang Yi had spoken, searching for key details.
Blood formation had first appeared 800 years ago, before Jiang Yi was even born.
That alone proved blood formation had nothing to do with Jiang Yi himself.
And yet, the man before them claimed to have created it.
Lin Moyu’s mind suddenly turned to the Daemetal. A realization struck him like lightning.
“Jiang Yi wasn’t merely corrupted by the Daemetal… he was possessed by it.”
The thought rang truer the more he examined it.
“From the moment Jiang Yi obtained the Daemetal, he had ceased to be himself.”
“Perhaps it hadn’t been a coincidence at all. Perhaps the Daemetal had sought him out. After all, in this world, coincidences rarely existed.”
“The Daemetal had come from beyond this world. Detection confirmed it.”
“Perhaps a powerful soul had been sealed within it when it descended. Or perhaps the Daemetal itself was a unique lifeform.”
As Antares once said, the universe was vast beyond imagination; nothing in it should surprise one.
Lin Moyu’s thoughts accelerated, weaving possibility after possibility together, until everything aligned.
Blood formation was sinister and heretical, its backlash devastating to the soul.
But to the current Jiang Yi, it caused no harm at all.
During that era of endless war, gathering the blood of powerhouses had been far easier than today.
That was why Jiang Yi had always charged at the front lines—not for humanity’s sake but purely for himself.
He had secretly set up blood formations throughout the Dimensional Battlefield and within the fortresses, all to ascend to Transcendent God in a single leap.
One failure had cost him centuries.
Jiang Yi claimed to be imperishable. Lin Moyu did not believe such a thing existed.
Just as no formation was truly unbreakable.
If a method could not be found, then brute force would suffice.
Becoming a Transcendent God would not be so simple.
Now, the 999 blood formations had connected into one massive whole. Like the Eternal Great Wall at full activation, their defensive power was terrifying.
Then sever the connection.
Lin Moyu said, “Teacher. Activate the Eternal Great Wall.”
Understanding flashed in Meng Anwen’s eyes. Without hesitation, he seized control of the formation and activated it.
After decades of maintaining it, no one wielded greater mastery.
The Eternal Great Wall, only just shut down, roared back to life again.
A vast defensive barrier surged upward.
But it met resistance. The blood-red pillars of light obstructed its deployment.
Meng Anwen strained, pouring every ounce of strength into the formation, yet it was still to no avail.
Jiang Yi’s laughter rang, “Useless! With your pitiful mastery of formations, you dare challenge me?”
The blood formation churned. Centuries of accumulated blood transformed into boundless energy, pouring into Jiang Yi without end.
His aura surged higher and higher.
Then, a bolt of violet lightning tore down from the heavens.
It struck the blood-red pillar and exploded into a raging sea of purple lightning.
