Narika: The Ghost Bride-Chapter 68 - Sixty-Eight: She’s Gone Because Of You.
Marya stirred in her sleep, as her eyes slightly flinched from the streaks of sunlight that came through her window. It was morning already, and looking at the time she had overslept which made her yanked the covers off her, and stood up immediately.
But that was a wrong move on her part, because she fell back down on the bed, while wincing in pain as she clutched her head with her two hands. It felt as if there’s a concert show going off in her head, because at this point she was convinced that this was not any normal headache.
She didn’t remember drinking last night, and neither did she stay up so late at night to not have enough rest. Until something clicked in her head, and he looked at the window immediately to see that it was open. There was no glass against it.
What happened?
She asked nobody in particular, the house was unusually quiet, and her husband didn’t come back to town yesterday so it was just her and Narika yesterday.
When her mind went towards Narika, something triggered inside of her and she nearly fell to the ground this time, but the headstand provided comfort to her, as the events of yesterday flashed through her mind.
The talk about Adrik?
The talisman that was hurting Narika?
The mark on her neck?
Red eyes?
Narika’s red eyes, then her losing control and shattering everything in the house.
"Noo..no." Marya mumbled, her legs gave out as she fell on the bed one more time. She couldn’t believe that what her mother had been saying about her daughter was all true.
Mario never really gave her a breathing space to talk about this, and now this has happened. Lucifer has claimed her daughter. The lord of hell has come for her child.
So much for them thinking that Adrik was just a minor problem, Marya was left astray as she didn’t know where or how to start about getting Lucifer to leave her child alone.
"No.." she said one more time, doubting about what was happening when it was obvious to her that this was happening, and it was happening at a fast pace and there’s no amount of doubt that would change what is happening.
Her mother was right.
If her mother who was a powerful mage couldn’t do anything, to change Narika’s fate. Marya knew that there was nothing anyone else would do, and not even her stubbornness can stop Lucifer from taking her daughter away from her.
But the desperate woman wasn’t planning on making it easier for Lucifer, or Adrik or any other person from the other dimension that was coming for her daughter.
"Narika," Marya stood up instantly, and walked out of her room with hastened footsteps. The events of last night still fresh in her mind.
Narika was scared.
She still doesn’t know the truth yet and she had done nothing but kept everything away from her. Everything! Right from the silly prophecy leading to her birth.
"Narika baby, are you in there?" She asked, looking around the sitting room to see the damage that had been done yesterday night. The broken glasses of the windows and bulbs were everywhere.
But that wasn’t her major concern, the pregnant silence in the house gave out a negative answer to her wandering mind, which was doing a lot more to scare her this morning.
She knocked once on Narika’s room door, so as to not scare the young girl anymore in case she was in there. But she pushed into her room without wasting any more time, when she didn’t hear any reply coming forth.
Her room was a mess.
A total mess.
It was as if she had vented all of her anger and frustration out, by turning everything upside down. One would mistakenly think that a robbery had been conducted here, but only Marya knew the truth.
"Please, let this be a joke." Marya cried, when she tugged her wardrobe open to see that some of her clothes were messing, and important items about her identity card and credit were nowhere to be found. "It can’t ..be."
Although it was very clear to the distressed woman that her daughter had run away, she didn’t want to conclude yet and dashed out of the room to the sitting room and as well to the kitchen, and backyard.
"My baby!" She yelled, climbing the stairs once again up to her room. This time around her eyes fell on a paper, sitting away on her table. She has kept it there for the purpose of her seeing it.
" No .no please," Marya touched her racing heart, as she opened the letter to find the evidence that her daughter had run off, and it was because she was...scared.
To mommy:
"I’m sorry that i hurt you, and dad by being such a headache rather than a blessing to the family. Please don’t blame yourself that i did this, I can’t bear it anymore. I don’t want to hurt you or dad. Please don’t search for me. I love you both. I’m sorry once again.
Narika.
"No!!" Marya screamed, her anger getting the best of her as she threw the other remaining item on the table as they hit the floor. The tears that streamed down her face couldn’t be reckoned with.
She cried while walking to her room, and picked up her phone before calling her husband. He didn’t pick up after the first ring, nor the second one, making her slam the phone to the wall in frustration.
"My baby.. oh! My child." Marya fell to the ground, wallowing in self pity before she heard the door open on, and some familiar voice calling for Narika.
She didn’t care to know who it was, as she heard the letter Narika wrote to her heart while she cried the more until Zoe’s face appeared at the door way.
"Auntie," Zoe called, rushing to her side as Marya was in a world of her own. She didn’t react the way she had concluded she would do once she sees Zoe for what she did to her child.
Everything was useless now.
"My ba..by."
"Auntie, what’s wrong. Where’s Nari..ka?" Zoe asked, feeling scared with the way she was acting but Marya was not in any mood to talk, rather she gave the letter to her and it was not long before Zoe’s body sagged to the floor, dread written over her face.
"No..no, it can’t be." She shaked her head in denial.
She’s gone. Narika was gone!
She couldn’t believe it, until Marya grabbed her hand tightly before shouting right at her face.
"You caused her pain! You were the only person she took as a friend here but you hurt her! My baby is gone because of you!!" Marya yelled at Zoe, who’s heart gave out at the confession coming from her mouth.
But it was no lie, she had somehow contributed to the reason Narika is not here again. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"What have i done?" Zoe asked. A question that had no answer since everything is totally useless now.
