Chapter 96: Strange Monkeys

The one-winged monkey horde that had appeared was certainly attracted by the beast general’s final attack. Such a gathering of stellar cosmic energy, it must have skewed the senses of countless beasts throughout the Blood-Drip Jungle.

Maybe, there were even more beasts heading to the Red Ape, with the one-winged monkeys being the fastest to reach it. More importantly, their initial focus was naturally towards the beast general, hence, when it was quickly proven that Seth and Anon weren’t exactly easy to catch up too, there were many one-winged monkeys in the swarm of a hundred to slow down and turn around.

"Huh?"

Slowly, as the density of one-winged monkeys behind them began dwindling, Seth and Anon would perceive this oddity. Initially, their futures looked very dark, but this single occurrence changed their perspectives completely.

It was like a small ball of light appearing in the deepest depths of a black ocean. From the initial hundred or so monkeys, it was reduced to ninety-five, then ninety, eighty, sixty-three...

As time passed, the number of one-winged monkeys that turned around was increasing drastically. And at the same time, the speed at which Anon and Seth moved, unknowingly increased.

When there were no more than fifty of these one-winged monkeys chasing them, the duo began communicating with each other.

"We can’t keep running like this," Seth conveyed.

After all, they were within the Blood-Drip Jungle, so the longer they moved through the jungle whilst utilizing stellar cosmic energy, the higher the chance that they would attract more beasts.

A scenario where multiple species of beasts and even plant beasts unite to kill humans was not improbable.

On the other hand, there were around fifty monsters behind them that desired nothing more than to rip their flesh into pieces. "How confident are you at fighting without your staff?" Seth asked.

With Anon’s staff shattered, the situation had become that much more complicated.

"You’re planning to confront all of them?" Anon frowned, his voice not hiding the surprise he felt.

"As I said, we can’t keep running or else our situation might even become worse." Seth shook his head. Unconsciously, they both began to slow down.

Simultaneously, the monkeys chasing the two geniuses began to draw closer. Due to this, less and less monkeys turned around!

"I’ll give you my staff..." Seth offered.

But Anon chuckled, "It’s okay. My hand-to-hand ability isn’t that bad, and more importantly, something tells me that I’ll be stronger without the staff."

As the two sides began to draw closer, suddenly bursting at shocking speeds were four very distinctive one-winged monkeys.

Unlike the others, these monkeys had blue-colored eyes and in them, there appeared to be more than just blinding murderous aura. Staring at the two with relentless hatred, they separated from the swarm and weaved through the forest, closing in on Anon and Seth.

"Eh?" Seth frowned as his sharp senses picked up on the four blue-eyed monkeys.

The temperature around them suddenly skyrocketed as a buzzing sound entered their ears.

At the same time, Anon stomped his foot into the ground, fully stopping. As he stomped down, a golden aura unraveled from his body and seeped into his heated surroundings.

There was a subtle calmness in his movements as he prepared to confront the incoming one-winged monkeys. Anon appeared to anticipate this confrontation even more than Seth who had suggested this in the first place.

"Cursed Ground!" Anon bellowed out as his spirit drew out power from his principle, Inevitable End.

The golden aura permeating his surroundings grew chaotic before expanding to an area of around ten meters around him.

Reacting to this, Seth swiftly exited this area whilst scowling, seemingly disgusted by it. Anon laughed heartily at his antics whilst saying, "Oh come on, don’t you wish to work together?"

Not far away from the ten meter ’domain’ of sorts that surrounded Anon, Seth replied, "Yes, work together, not be manipulated around by that disgusting law of inevitability."

As his words fell, Anon clicked his tongue before shifting his focus towards the four one-winged monkeys that were approaching. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Two clicking sounds entered his ears as Seth placed the two halves of his staff together before twisting them in place.

He then twirled it around his body, causing crimson particles to flicker in his surroundings as the metallic scent of blood began permeating his surroundings.

Currently, the light originating from the starry cosmic sky had already begun to be consumed by the densely packed trees of the Blood-Drip Jungle as day slowly transitioned to night.

But this was only temporary...

Crackle!

Following a crackling sound, the incoming darkness was immediately obliterated as a brilliant blue flame materialized.

It was twice the size of a human and radiated immense heat, creating an invisible wave to spread out into the surroundings.

This wave was hot to the point that it caused the atmosphere around it to twist with discomfort.

And right then, three more appeared!

These four massive flames, each having a size twice that of a human, slowly descended.

Reacting to this, Seth took two steps back, but the flames suddenly increased their speed and shifted their path of descent towards him.

Smirking, Seth proclaimed, "I’ll handle this. Good luck with those four." He chuckled, retreating even faster. Locking onto him, the flames followed him, catching up to him in no time.

But he waved his staff, and when he did, the crimson particles that previously flickered in and out of existence materialized into droplets of blood that circled Seth’s figure.

There were tens of droplets that instantly multiplied, becoming hundreds and thousands in the blink of an eye.

Before long, swirling around Seth’s figure was a massive tower-like structure of blood, completely enveloping his body.

Seeing this, Anon shifted his focus away from Seth, and towards the four one-winged monkeys that had appeared around him.

They surrounded him, but unlike their red-eyed counterparts, they were seemingly unwilling to step into close quarters.

In fact, in Anon’s four directions, their was a blue-eyed monkey standing fifteen meters away from him, five meters away from the golden aura that surrounded his body.

For beasts, their actions were rather odd.

"Mutations?" Anon whispered to himself. Thereafter, the muscles throughout his body contracted as he focused his eyes on one monkey, exploding with speed towards it.

Reacting to him, the wing on its back quivered before it lifted into the air, but Anon didn’t hesitate, stomping his foot into the earth, bringing his momentum to a halt, before shooting into the sky in chase of it.

Due to the momentum he had, Anon’s initial burst of speed was many times faster than the monkey, allowing him to reach within close quarters almost instantaneously.

Cocking back his right hand, his fingers twitched, his nails lengthened and sharpened. Appearing before the blue-eyed monkey, he slashed out like that of a beast with claws or paws!

Reacting quickly, the monkey’s single wing suddenly intercepted its path, blocking Anon’s attack, but he was no beast, allowing him to simultaneously kick out, with his shin ruthlessly banging into the monkey’s head.

As the beast felt its mind go blank, it uncontrollably fell from the sky.

Not letting up, Anon descended towards it, but just before he could reach, it opened its small jaws.

Thereafter, the monkey spat out a ball of blue flames!

’Ah?!’

Almost instantly upon appearing, Anon sensed the chaotic and immense amount of stellar cosmic energy within that ball of blue flame!

His eyebrows rose in shock, but he could not react in time. As these flames met with the properties of the outside world, there was an intense eruption...

Boom!

A booming sound reverberated in the surroundings.

Blue flames enveloped Anon along with the one-winged monkey as the explosive forces saw to it that they were both sent flying uncontrollably in opposing directions at breakneck speed.

The one-winged monkey crashed into the earth, causing debris and rubble to explode in the surroundings.

The earth caved in as blue flames spread out in its surroundings.

There was a large sink in the earth, and though all of this was caused by its own attacks, the one-winged monkey, or at least, what had remained, was unmoving, its figure unseeable due to the flames burning its flesh.

"Ah-! Ahh! Arghhhhhh!" Pained growls resounded in the surroundings as a humanoid figure enveloped in blue flames stepped out from another crater a distance away.

Surrounding this figure, a hazy golden aura flickered in and out of existence, appearing as if it would disappear in a moment’s notice.

Perceiving this, the three other one-winged monkeys immediately darted towards Anon’s burning figure.

Their sudden burst of speed caused a powerful gale of wind to spread into the surroundings. A shockwave that extinguished the blue flames which covered the one-winged monkey.

Its corpse wasn’t complete thanks to the explosion in the air.

Though the blue flames in their most basic form couldn’t harm the one-winged monkey, when it erupted like that at such proximity, it didn’t matter if the one-winged monkey was the summoner.

The monkey had committed a suicide attack that was guaranteed to injure Anon, and it had succeeded!

As the other three one-winged monkeys made their way towards Anon, they spat into the air in front of them...

What entered the outer world were solidified blue shards that burst forth with much greater speed than the monkeys, appearing before Anon instantly.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

As even more blue flames erupted into the surroundings, Anon bellowed out even louder, the pain he felt basically spilling into his voice, making his screams painful to listen to.

At the same time, he was greeted by the three monkeys who then immediately launched at him with wicked intent.

But as they appeared around him from differing angles, and one slashed its wing at him, and another swung its claws, and the third lunged at him with its canines, the screams and wails that he previously released, creepingly transitioned into a haunting laughter with his expression, enveloped in a crackling blue flame, showing a wide grin.

The golden aura that flickered in and out of reality manifested fully with great power as the world suddenly fell silent for a moment.

Going silent, the world welcomed the fall of Anon’s words...

"Victory Manifested!"
