Myriad Devils-Chapter 95: Attracted
Anon chortled happily.
With great eagerness, he found more room in his stomach.
Out of anger, Anon once promised that he’d consume Bolan’s flesh and drink his blood.
Now, he was only fulfilling said promise.
"Would you recreate your body?" Anon asked aloud.
Not getting a response, he frowned.
"Ah, will your body reform inside of me then?" Anon asked aloud.
Not getting a response, his frown deepened.
"Father, can you enlighten my soul? Will his body reform inside of me?" Anon asked aloud.
Not getting a response, his face showed a hideous scowl.
"Seth! Will his body reform inside of me?" Anon asked aloud.
Not getting a response...
Seth’s cheeks were hot, his pale face was bright red.
But he covered his cheeks with one hand, stepping out of the shade and onto the open field, replying to Anon, "N-No, I don’t think it can."
"Is that so?" Anon glanced towards Seth and nodded.
Shifting his gaze toward Bolan, he sighed.
The black-haired boy was pinned to a tree trunk.
His upper body was open wide, showing his hollow insides.
His skull was cracked open, now empty.
His blood was drained, and his flesh was devoured.
Anon licked his lips and stood up, gently rubbing his belly with a soft smile.
"Though you disrespected me, I will gloss over your blasphemy. Today, I generously grant you the honor of becoming nutrients for my body, the body of the supreme commander’s son."
Bolan’s empty eye-sockets stared at Anon as the latter’s words fell.
Anon met such an empty gaze with indifference.
There was a brief silence.
"Hmm?"
Breaking this silence was Seth’s puzzled hum, drawing Anon’s attention.
He stood in front of the hole in the earth where the pool of bubbling black liquid had noticeably shrunk. The Sky-grade treasure had begun trembling and pulsating akin to a beating heart, releasing waves of ripples that caused its surroundings to tremble violently.
"What’s the matter?" Anon stood up and made his way across.
This simple action brought the story of Bolan to an end.
Once begotten, now forgotten.
The existence of Bolan had been completely eradicated from Anon’s psyche.
Like Catharina.
Like Andrew.
Like Melissa.
Their stories had reached an end.
But this was inevitable.
All living things will taste death.
...
"Void Rain."
Seth turned to Anon, "Though poisonous to living organisms such as humans, plant beasts, and beasts, it is quite useful for divine weapons along with magical items. There are many things in this world that can help Sky-grade treasures and Greater Divine Weapons reach a higher level, and Void Rain is one of them." He said whilst pointing at the pool of bubbling liquid.
"Oh," Anon’s eyes lit up as he glanced toward the sleeping beast general, nodding his head in understanding.
In fact, many beasts tend to hog treasures for themselves.
Whether they can use it or not, as beasts became more powerful, their instinctive desire for treasures reached an obsessive level.
Evidently, it wasn’t odd to stumble across a magnificent treasure, and where said treasure is located, a beast had taken that area as its place of residence.
One could even assume that, because of this small pool of Void Rain, this open field had become the Red Ape Beast General’s home.
"It’s just that," Seth sighed whilst observing the Sky-grade magical item, "There isn’t enough Void Rain to see this Sky-grade item reach the Arcane grade."
Anon approached the hole in the earth. Taking a seat before it, he chuckled lightly and glanced at Seth, "It’s a pity, a real pity, but you know what, dear Seth, right now, I’m not even the slightest bit annoyed. In fact, my spirit is relaxed, and my mind is calm. Having attained this state, shouldn’t I enter a meditative session immediately?"
Seth was slightly amused at Anon’s state of mind.
The latter had just committed an act of utter distastefulness, especially if one used human morality as a baseline, and yet, he appeared as if he was a holy saint that had just cured an incurable disease plaguing humanity.
Seth found these two extremities intriguing to say the least.
"Go ahead," Seth muttered.
Though Anon subconsciously viewed Seth as his greatest enemy, and though Seth had a somewhat similar view, they could very well be viewed as life-and-death brothers.
Both of their purposes transcended a sudden death battle against one-another, at least, until they achieved said purposes.
It was, in fact, the safest option for Anon, to have Seth protect him whilst he entered a meditative state in which, he would be susceptible to the dangerous forces of the outside world.
"I’ll..."
Protect you...
Seth was just about to say this, but he could not.
What?!
It was sudden, but more than that, both of their reactions were instinctive.
It began with a feeling that caused their pores to raise and their hairs to stand on end.
Following that, both their spirits churned stellar cosmic energy at ridiculous rates, drawing out every ounce of power from their principle.
Anon shot up to his feet, his figure illusory whilst his bracelet shone with a blurry light which then covered the Sky-grade magical item.
At the same time, a golden aura escaped his worldly form as he exploded with speed, rocketing towards the densely packed forest some dozens of meters away.
It was a mixture of gold and crimson auras that encompassed the surrounding area as the two stellar geniuses caused the earth beneath their feet to explode.
But their intertwining auras, which created an oddly striking, yet picturesque image, wasn’t even the most stunning picture.
Instead, it was a murderous aura!
A thick murderous aura!
So thick in fact, that it shattered the metaphysical world and poured into the real world, manifesting before their very eyes.
Forged from this sea of murderous intent, there were images of demonic entities, monstrosities ninety feet tall, growling, and dancing in the air.
The starry sky that produced light was forcefully transformed into a dark crimson night.
As light from the starry cosmic sky was severed, there was only one source remaining, an ocean of blood red eyes that shone with cruelty.
From a glance, even the untrained eye could instinctively tell that there were more than a thousand pairs of these vile eyes.
Murderous aura so thick...
In its state of hibernation, the Red Ape’s sensitivity towards stellar cosmic energy might have reduced greatly, but what remained was, obviously, its sensitivity to killing intent aimed at it.
More than that, killing intent so thick, so heavy that it manifested in the physical world, such intent was focused on it.
No matter how deeply it slept...
Grrrrr!
The earth trembled violently as the beast general’s heavy body released strange growls which seemed to shake the atmosphere.
And as it rose to its feet, standing tall, the gigantic Red Ape thumped its chest, causing eruptions that forged violent shockwaves with each thump!
EEE! EEE! EEE!
With infinite forces, waves of one-winged monkeys descended from the skies, towards the wrathful Beast General.
Indeed, the saying, "an immovable object meets an unstoppable force", almost perfectly encapsulated the Red Ape and the swarm of one-winged monkeys.
This was a confrontation beyond just interesting.
To the point where, in any other situation, Anon would’ve greatly desired to observe from the sidelines.
Just, both he and Seth were unable to stop their movements.
They simply could not stop their attempt at escaping this vicinity, or more so, their pursuers.
Aaooh-! Aaooh-!
Breaking off from the swarm there were over a hundred one-winged monkeys!
There were over a hundred of them, and yet, the general feel that the swarm of monkeys gave out did not change.
At a glance, anyone would still say that there were easily over a thousand of them about to confront the Red Ape.
"Damn!" Anon groaned with annoyance.
Truthfully, they should’ve expected this.
In fact, more than just expect it, one could even say that they were dumb for ignoring this possibility!
"Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!" He exclaimed with frustration.
The battle between hundreds of one-winged monkeys and the beast general was beyond attention grabbing.
From miles away, both he and Seth had felt the aftershocks of said battle, and yet, beasts and plant beasts were far more sensitive to stellar cosmic energy than them.
Especially that final attack.
Even if they had overlooked the rest of the battle, the final attack of that beast general contained such a high amount of stellar cosmic energy that it caused cracks to form across the atmosphere.
Pondering on this, Anon shook his head with a nasty scowl plastering itself across his face.
"Hmm, that’s weird?" Seth’s voice was much calmer.
As the duo maneuvered through the densely packed forest, running across the earth and sometimes hopping from tree branch to tree branch, Seth mused aloud, "How did I overlook this? Am I unconsciously looking down on these dumb beasts?"
Seth clicked his tongue with annoyance.
Then, he smiled, oddly...
He remained silent but his thoughts churned at a rapid pace, ’Good, good, good, this arrogant nature isn’t Seth, no, not at all!’
’Slowly but surely, no, faster than I thought, the path is being established.’
His blood red orbs traversed to the corners of his eyes, glancing at Anon, ’You best hurry up, dear Anon. Two’s still asleep.’
’If you take too long, I’ll just destroy everything. My patience ran out an eternity ago!’
Ignoring Seth’s gaze, Anon stepped onto a tree branch.
For just a moment, his speed slowed slightly, but right after, the branch exploded as he rocketed forward.
Descending onto the earth, the ground sunk beneath his feet due to the great force that he brought.
Dripping from his body was a resplendent golden aura that attempted to warp his surroundings.
His figure appeared both real and surreal as he and Seth moved through the forest.
Behind them, a sea of monsters weaved through the obstacles in the jungle.
Their blood red orbs held within immense murderous intent.
But amidst this sea, there were a few pairs of eyes that were unlike the others.
