Myriad Devils-Chapter 317: No hesitation
He really could not move.
If Cleansing Light had a single dimension, Elshen would be able to resist.
Even if there were only two dimensions, his speed would’ve declined drastically, yes, but he would still be capable of moving.
But adding two more on top of that?
From the very beginning of the battle, Realm Father Elshen was in a perilous situation.
The imagery of a skull opening its maw and releasing a sea of deathly blackness was almost instantly shattered.
After all, what descended onto this world, and what dominated space wasn’t one, or two, but four dimensions... four!
The two Secondary-Level Dimension Lords didn’t need to make moves anymore.
They stood above, like godly creatures judging a lesser existence, amusement in their eyes as he struggled to resist the power of four dimensions.
"Realm Father Elshen is indeed an incomprehensible existence amongst Realm Fathers," Shifting Stars said with hints of appreciation in his eyes.
"Amongst Realm Fathers, yes. But you still need to survive until becoming a Dimension Lord before you can attempt reaching the apex." Cleansing Lights coldly berated.
Elshen could not retort.
His muscles twitched in resistance; however, he couldn’t open his mouth. His lips were trembling due to the force pressing down on him, but he had no control over them...
The otherworldly body was forged out of energy, and now this energy was unstable, and his very body threatened to destabilize...
His grip on the pair of Region Dominating Blades was nullified, and only one thought resounded in his mind...
Now!
Return now!
Elshen screamed inwardly.
It was to the point that his thoughts shook the outer world as well.
Perceiving these thoughts, both Shifting Stars and Cleansing Lights knitted their brows.
After all, it was said that Realm Father Elshen had used unknown means to traverse the Heavens and escape from Sun Jade Ancient Lord’s grasp.
Nevertheless, Astaria had once mentioned that the realm power of Dimension Lords affected the resonance between the world he was in and Mythralis.
Even though he did not believe that, if it was accurate, then his current fate was obvious.
Firstly, it was cracks that appeared on his skin.
They grew wider and longer, and soon after, pieces of his skin completely broke apart from his body...
Thereafter, they were reduced to dust due to the pressure exerted by the four dimensions.
Elshen’s heart realm could not bear this pressure directly. As his body broke apart, the heart realm also began shattering.
The heart realm was vital to the stability of the inner realm. With its destruction, the inner realm returned to cosmic dust.
Elshen’s soul leapt out of his otherworldly body, but the pressure exerted by these four dimensions completely suppressed his soul, pressing it downwards.
Though Shifting Stars stood in the night’s sky, and there was an immeasurable distance separating the dark Heavens and the quaking Earth, he had high insights into the principles of Space.
When his right hand grasped toward Elshen’s soul, such a great distance shrank in a moment’s notice, and Elshen’s soul appeared no further than an arm’s length away...
However!
Just then, under the mammoth pressure of the four dimensions, Elshen’s soul dispersed.
"Hmm?"
Shifting Stars glanced at Cleansing Lights, who also turned toward him.
The two stared into each other’s eyes for a moment before Shifting Stars squinted his eyes in deep thought.
"I did not expect such decisiveness from a creature with such a bright future." Shifting Stars commented with an exasperated sigh, leaving his lips.
"Who’d have thought he disliked working under anyone to the point where he would even kill himself in his pride." His words caused Cleansing Lights to scoff lightly.
The latter had a scornful look as he berated under his breath.
"What pride? Is it sustenance? Can he eat it? Or can he become a Dimension Lord with it? No, instead, he is dead, and now, he’ll become nothing more than an Elven tale... a great wonder as to what could’ve been."
This was the truth of the world.
A wise man submitted to circumstances.
Naturally, Anon was a believer in and followed this logic wholeheartedly.
As a mortal, he had certain bottom lines.
Only after becoming an otherworldly creature and developing a higher viewpoint, he realized that the idea of bottom lines and morality was effectively useless.
Of course, if his mortal self was once completely opposed to a particular concept, he would not seek out this concept in an attempt to prove that the present him was detached and above his past self.
However!
If it meant slaving himself away to another creature for a fortuitous opportunity, even accepting the previous offer from the Lady of Dazzling Lights, then once the result was beneficial to his greater goal, he was not limited in his actions, and he would not hesitate.
Power and the knowledge of what was unknown.
Knowledge of the incomprehensible creatures that attempted to manipulate him, and power over them...
These were his deepest desires, and nothing would stop him from acquiring them.
His ungodly nature spurred him on to commit morally disgusting deeds, but so what?
There was not a single time he did not benefit from them.
If it meant committing questionable deeds, he would not hesitate.
If it meant committing slaughter and genocide, destroying worlds, or saving worlds, assuming the identity of a saintly figure, or the worst devil, he would not hesitate.
At the end of the day, he was like anyone else.
Some did not wish to die, but he had already died.
He did not mind death, only that an eternal, permanent one went against his ideals.
Some sought eternal life, but he wanted more.
He, when speaking in theory, had already achieved eternal longevity, because an otherworldly creature had a lifespan equal to the cosmic space.
Such an existence was no longer mortal, but a gathering of cosmic energy, thoughts, perceptions, wills, and so on.
And some sought power, but his desire was more complex.
He was desperate.
He was greedy.
But every time his power grew, he was filled with satisfaction, contentment, and gratitude.
Satisfied because he was above countless lifeforms.
Content because such power was immeasurable.
Grateful, because there were still more concepts waiting to be grasped by him!
The moment Shifting Stars and Cleansing Lights saw Elshen’s soul disperse, it was not a form of suicide, but simply because this soul could not bear the pressure.
After all, Maarsha’s soul was only an unfathomable soul.
