Chapter 178: The Destined Lord

Jacob could not put a finger on it, but the Anon before him seemed different. More than the obvious physical changes, the aura surrounding the swarthy-skinned youth was notably darker, and even overbearing.

It was important to note that upon passing the second trial, Anon’s strength had returned.

Although he did not have true mastery over his third world body, his pseudo true mastery was even closer to achieving completion.

The strength he could unearth had truly stepped into the fourth world with confidence.

On the other hand, Jacob was a second world stellar fighter. His physical capabilities were not limited in the second trial, because they were always in the first world anyway.

And his spiritual capabilities were not greatly limited as it was aligned to the lightning principle which fueled the secrets behind the glowing patterns and bulging veins.

Only if one wielded another kind of principle that could assist in defeating the beasts would the rules of the second trial suppress one’s spirit.

In Anon’s case, his spirit was already critically injured, so there was no need for it to be suppressed.

Still, he had comprehended the secrets behind the glowing patterns and bulging veins to such a degree that his every attack was in accordance to them.

It forcefully created a resonance between his attacks and the lightning principles they contained.

It was similar to wielding a treasure capable of wielding another principle, but it was only possible because of how deep his insights were.

Inevitably, he could not summon the power of the lightning principle through his spirit because he lacked affinity.

What Jacob could do, Anon could not.

However, when it came to the glowing patterns and bulging veins, Anon could do even more than what Jacob could.

There was a dangerous aura unconsciously released through Anon’s dark gold eyes.

Jacob and Anon communicated atop a platform that was connected to the golden staircase leading to the unknown.

They went over the past few months’ experiences, like two old friends reminiscing.

As time passed, more individuals appeared on the platform.

When the successors assessed each other, their eyes could not help but land on the conversing duo.

Not because of their strength.

Some of those present were in the fifth world after all. There auras drowned their surroundings, causing the space around them to warp.

However, there was one thing that drew their attention.

Anon did not attempt to conceal the aura that he unconsciously released, and unlike the rest present, there was no resonance with the lightning principle radiating from him.

It greatly intrigued those present, but there was no chance to approach him as the dimensional core began to manifest before them.

Congratulations on completing the second trial.

The Lightning Reckoning Orb secretly sighed.

Toward Anon, it had nothing more to say.

It had grown numb and did not even dare to predict his results in this third and final trial.

Welcome to the third trial space.

The rules remain very simple.

Whoever reaches the furthest on this staircase, will inherit the title of Destined Lord.

Upon becoming an Otherworldly Knight, the Destined Lord will be able to claim this Lightning Reckoning Dimension as their own, instantly ascending the otherworldly system, surpassing the realm of Otherworldly Knights, wielding power comparable to the most powerful Realm Fathers, instantly becoming a pseudo Dimension Lord, and a Dimension Lord in due time.

As for this third trial?

This trial is purely a test of willpower...

There was a period of silence that followed.

Only some of the individuals understood the true meaning behind its words, and they remained in stunned silence.

But even those who were not knowing, understood that anything related to the Otherworldly Knights was unbelievably precious.

The dimensional core drew all eyes as it slowly drifted toward Anon and stated.

I say it is a test of pure will, however that was in the event that all participants were aligned with the lightning principle.

This trial might prove dangerous to you, young lord.

I see your spirit is injured, to congratulate you for how far you’ve come, there is no difficulty in sending you to the Lost Land’s Heavens’ Edge Domain.

The dimensional core explained...

Upon meditating there, your spirit would swiftly recover. Reborn from destruction, it would be even more complete and perfect than before.

Your situation might prove to be a blessing in disguise, and when you reach the third world, with such a complete spirit, you might very well be capable of transcending worlds...

Following the dimensional core’s words, a hushed silence followed.

Those in the know, like the fifth worlders, and some fourth worlders, were absolutely stunned by the words of the Lightening Reckoning Orb.

"Transcending worlds with a third world spirit?!" Someone could not help but blurt out.

These fifth world individuals were either members or former members of the Victorious Fighting Army, or were part of great or greater families.

Some fourth worlders were of similar status.

They had earned enough merit to buy this knowledge.

Knowledge of the path to becoming an otherworldly knight.

So they knew.

However transcending worlds with a third world spirit?

It is said, only the Human Lord had completed such an act.

"Wait a minute," Suddenly, a burly figure with a bald head, tanned skin, and sharp brows grabbed the attention of those near him.

"Look at that boy’s eyes. Are they not familiar...?" The figure did not continue his words, however for those who were in the know, what he meant was obvious.

More than that, when they looked into Anon’s eyes, they could not help but feel their heart tremble.

It wasn’t as overbearing, nor was it as hypnotizing, or as dangerous to look at, but it was...

It was...

The Human Lord’s eyes?! 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

As they observed the swarthy-skinned youth that had garnered the undivided attention of the Lightning Reckoning Orb, then remembered how the dimensional core referred to the boy.

With the words, ’young lord’, some individuals could not help but tremble with excitement, confusion, dread, and a myriad of other emotions.

For the first time in their life, some of these fifth worlders began sweating profusely due to a second worlder with an injured spirit.

They were very clear.

The Human Lord had not proclaimed to have a son.

So what they had just come to know of was highly likely to be forbidden knowledge.

"Y-Your looking into it too much."

"Yes. I think you’re suffering from some hallucination."

"Y-Yeah," The burly man scratched the back of his head. Beads of sweat forming on his forehead, "I must be suffering from a heart demon."

Amongst the fifth worlders, an awkward silence followed.

At the same time, Anon casually replied, "Is it not simply ascending stairs? If it is too dangerous, I won’t continue. Anyway, I am more interested in testing my will."

Hearing his words, the Lightning Reckoning Orb sighed.

Truthfully, it was getting worried.

In the one hand, it would be ecstatic if the young lord was its heir, but in the other hand, it felt a resonance with Jacob.

This resonance was too attractive, so it also desired to send this young lord away, lest he truly becomes the victor of the successor trials.

As for these other successor candidates, although they were a little brilliant in their own way, they could not compare to the young lord, nor Jacob.

Not even mentioning the heir to the Lord, even the other beings born within a Holy Land are inherently different, more brilliant and gifted. Since I can pick such high quality candidates, the successor must be either Jacob or Anon.

Preferably Jacob.

.....

The third trial commenced soon after.

Once again, the contents of the trial was simple.

Unless your willpower has escaped the cosmic ruling, it is impossible to reach the end of this staircase. The final victor of this successor trials will be the one who has reached the furthest on this staircase.

As these words echoed across the trial space, along with the other successors, Anon stepped onto the stairs.

Immediately after, within his mind realm, a bolt of golden lightning raced across the dark world and appeared before the mighty sun star before exploding with the force of a dying star!

The entire dark world trembled, causing Anon to grimace in pain.

Compared to the mind-swallowing abyss, this was absolutely different.

The remnant souls, wraiths, and cursed spirits seek to corrupt and manipulate one’s will. Meanwhile, this staircase simply desired utter eradication.

Total destruction!

Anon only stepped onto the first step before falling to one knee.

Unconsciously, along with Jacob, some of the fifth worlders looked toward him with worry.

Sensing this, Anon glanced back at Jacob with some doubt in his mind.

’Why are their conditions not as bad as mine?’ Anon was slightly taken aback. To him, it felt as if he had almost ceased to exist from the first step.

On the other hand, even Jacob appeared somewhat unbothered.

"If its too much, please don’t risk damage to your will." The bald headed man said.

Though they acted like they didn’t realize, when it involved his safety, none of them bothered to pretend.

They were genuinely worried.

What if the human lord blamed them for his son’s death?

Even conceiving the thought of such a sentence made their heart tremble.

Though confused by why these successor candidates were so worried about Anon, after all, one less opponent should make them happier. But Jacob was more focused on Anon’s situation.

"Anon, if it’s dangerous, its okay to give it up," Jacob sighed. "Felix’s situation is unknown, so I need to hurry and finish this trial, however I only hope you don’t risk your life for this."

Jacob turned his back and swiftly ascended the stairs.

Hearing all of this concern, Anon couldn’t help but chuckle.

’Simply put, I do not align with the lightning principle. This staircase applies pressure to one’s will, tempering the will of these candidates. But to me, it’s like the black lightning, shaking the dark world with pure destructive capabilities,’ Anon mused.

’However, the one to claim the title of ’Destined Lord’ isn’t confirmed just yet.’ Anon inwardly testified.

As the dark world stopped trembling, the mighty sun star was nourished by the dark world itself, and the cracks on the core of the star healed.

Not only that, but the aura it radiated also grew more concentrated.
