Chapter 163: Spiritual Awareness

There were many shattered and broken stars visible in Earth’s sky.

Some were fragmented into countless rocks that drifted in a systematic order, and others were even cleaved in half.

Nonetheless this was the origin of light that spread to all corners of the world.

Standing atop a city’s wall some hundreds of meters tall was Jacob Toppin. His braided hair swayed in the wind, a sheathed sword in his left hand, and his right hand tucked in his pocket, he observed the far reaching horizon.

Jacob’s physique was incredibly firm. His upper body wasn’t bulky, yet his muscles bulged through his tight-fitted clothing. The black tactical boots added to his tall figure.

In the past few months, along with his partner Felix Arcola, they who were closest to ’them’, had undergone noticeable changes.

Felix’s fluffy brown hair had visibly grown, and his once brown eyes had, at some point, begun reflecting an emerald green shade.

His figure had also grown taller, yet contrary to when he activated the power of his principle, his features had become even more refine.

The nerdy boy from back then had long disappeared.

This duo were a kind of legendary pair back in the military academy. Ever since the disappearance of Anon and Seth, it seemed to’ve trigged their deepest potential, granting accelerated growth.

A flicker of purple lightning flashed through the depths of Jacob’s eyes.

His voice was rich as he whispered yet was heard without any problems. "The academy was clearly at fault, actually allowing a teacher to assassinate a mere student. Tch! What use is an artificial intelligence if it allowed such a disgusting act to be carried out?!"

Sigh...

"Jacob, no matter what we say, in the end, we’re only students. Even if you come from a greater family, the means of a great family is sufficient to deter any further investigation. We have no choice but to be satisfied with the punishment that the academy carried out on that teacher."

Felix sighed again.

He too was angered.

At the time, he wished for nothing more than to rip that teacher to shreds. The bloodlust he felt at that time, it was something he had never experienced before.

However, what they could do was very limited. Not only their status as students, but even their strength was limited.

’If only we were Otherworldly Knights...’ Felix thought this and chuckled darkly.

What a joke!

If it was that easy to become an Otherworldly Knight...

"Dean Rao said that both Anon and Seth are alive. Though their locations aren’t known, all we can do is grow stronger and await their return. At least, if they do die, the dean would notify us right away." Felix’s hand slowly stretched out, toward Jacob.

Tsk!

The approaching hand suddenly came to a halt as Jacob’s aura sent a ripple into his vicinity.

The sound of crackling lightning entered Felix’s ears, causing them to twitch, as streaks of lightning ran across Jacob’s skin.

"And that’s the problem right there!" Jacob roared, "Stronger, stronger, stronger! How strong can we get in the academy?! Felix..."

He slowly turned, meeting the latter’s gaze.

"I won’t hide it from you, I’m already at the peak of the second world. Compared to those seniors in year three, I’m much, much stronger." Jacob said this, however there wasn’t the slightest bit of pleasure in his tone.

"One breakthrough again, and I’ll graduate from this academy. I will not stay in this academy, but venture into the blood-drip jungle."

"Even if I breakthrough, unless the academy has some sensor on this useless bracelet, then I’ll continue my path, walking unhindered across the blood-drip jungle, and toward the other forbidden territories of the Victorious Fighting Country." Jacob spoke, his eyes showing every bit of determination to carry out what he proclaimed.

"I’ll pay homage to every city in this country, and if by then, I still hear no news of Anon," Bolts of lightning, a deep shade of purple, flashed in the depths of his eyes as he stated without hesitation...

"I’ll leave this country!"

Felix’s pupils trembled.

Leaving the country?

It obviously meant stepping into the Lost Lands.

Who did not know what kind of suicidal decision that was?!

Seeing his friend’s reaction, Jacob sighed and turned around. Observing the endless forest beyond the city’s walls, Jacob’s figure faded as crackling noises resounded in the vicinity.

He reappeared several meters below, walking along the city walls as if walking on flat ground.

His figure faded away as if he did not exist and then reappeared every tens of meters,

One hand in a pocket, and another holding a sword, his voice resounded in the vicinity, "I’ve already had a word with Dean Rao, gaining permission to leave the military academy."

His voice grew fainter, "Luckily, my family is unlike the other greater families, so they’ll have no qualms even if I die. After all, only the weak fall midway, whilst the strong reach the end of their path." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"Looked down on, brutally tortured, injured yet still standing, achieving glory in the end is all that matters! Without an unbreakable will, who can stand at the pinnacle?" By this time, his voice had already faded in the wind.

Felix’s heart thumped in his chest.

Such a will.

Did he have it?

’Leaving everything behind? Returning only after actualizing strength? Or not returning at all? I’ve spent some time with Jacob so I’ve grown to understand him, however I have a disabled brother that’s still in the city. I can’t...’

Felix’s emerald green eyes shone gloomily.

’Jacob also has a family!’

Thinking this, the hesitation in his eyes disappeared and he gritted his teeth, rushing to the end of the wall, he took a leap.

Free falling, he brought his hand closer, and from the academy’s bracelet, a holographic screen appeared.

Dear Leren (brother)...

.....

The fourth layer of the mind swallowing abyss was darker than the deepest dark, blacker than ink, it was so dark that traces of a deep shade of purple could be seen.

At this time, two immemorial sun stars suddenly appeared. Meditating in this dark sea, Anon suddenly opened his eyes, revealing those radiant amber suns.

Rising to his feet, Anon stood in the empty void. No matter how powerful his eyes were, he saw absolute dark in his surroundings. The only other thing that could be perceived were the faint traces of purple.

Closing his eyes, the disappearing suns allowed the dark sea to return to its usual state. The gentle yet piercing wind brushed against his skin, piercing deep into his flesh, digging into his bones, tickling his nerves, seeping into his blood.

He felt it all.

At the same time, he also saw it.

In his mind, he could see the humanoid figure, a somewhat transparent figure. Anon stood in his mind, observing his own self, and the interior of his body deeply.

However, what he could see was limited, so instead he exited the elusive mind realm. A ticklish sensation appeared between his brows, almost feeling like something bulging through his skin, before finally breaking out.

This unusual sensation spread out wildly, encompassing over a hundred meters. However that was only a percentage of the third layer!

’Eyes outside the body. Soul sense. Spiritual awareness. It doesn’t matter what its called, it only shows how powerful my soul has become.’ Anon mused.

This sensation.

To put it simply, it was akin to his thoughts escaping the bounds of his consciousness. These thoughts gathered information, creating an image forged from information within the mind realm, allowing Anon to ’see’ the outside world.

Naturally, at a certain level, the world contained endless information waiting to be plucked and used by those with the necessary means.

’I still prefer to use my genuine eyes. But my vision isn’t powerful enough to forcefully pierce through this darkness.’

’Yet, I believe I understand how this body has been ’growing even stronger’ since leaving the drifting rock territory.’

’However, to confirm this theory, I’ll first need to devour a creature from this third layer and strengthen my soul.’ Anon mused.

As for this theory?

’If it is what I think it is, then theoretically, this will be... And it is a great possibility. It makes sense, however it probably won’t be easy to achieve. But if, and when I do achieve it, hehe...’

’Wasn’t Seth interested in my principle of Inevitability?’

’If this theory is true, once my spirit heals, would I even need to utilize the principle’s power? With just this body, I’d like to see who would be my opponent!’

Truthfully, Anon wished he could just burst into an unbridled and chaotic laughter. However, he calmed his heart and instead approached a cavity on the wall.

It was the closest one to him. His spiritual awareness allowed him to deduce that much.

And as he stepped toward its direction, under the strength of his third worlder body, space twisted and distance folded.

Time seemed to slow as space propelled him towards the cavity less than a hundred meters away.

What was about a hundred meters, crossed in a single step!
