Chapter 162: Almost addicting

Anon sat in the dark emptiness, lost in thought.

He had a frowning expression, and his brows were furrowed.

’The effects that a stronger will has had on my comprehension is simply too terrifying. Is it really all due to improving willpower? If another stellar fighter did this, would they also see such a drastic change?’ Anon wondered.

’No wonder Seth was angry. Certainly, I wouldn’t wish for my enemy to know of such an easy way to increase talent. After all, besides being slightly cautious in devouring a wraith, there really isn’t anything to it.’ Anon innocently thought. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

If a more knowledgeable person were to hear this, they would certainly cough blood in anger!

’Anyways, that is besides the point. This can be considered my great fortune, and now that I’ve found it, I must make full use of this treasure field.’ Anon’s eyes lit up as the cloud severing spear broke apart in his hands, integrating into his right hand as a tattoo.

’As for those natives, if I cross paths with one, kill one. If I cross paths with ten, kill ten.’ Anon’s eyes turned cold.

Kill!

Joining the new world order was indeed a laughable proposition placed by Seth. Wanting him to worship the Devil that he would inevitably battle?

Such blasphemy was akin to Seth asking Anon for the latter to kowtow and worship the former.

To this, Anon would scowl, curse, and spit...

.....

Anon’s next course of actions were very simple.

Enter a tunnel, devour a wraith, purify the malevolent energy, absorb its memories, and leave.

He did it once and left with a smile.

Then, he did it again.

When he returned to the emptiness of the second layer, he remained there for a while. He took out his spear and begun practicing the Deity Transformation Spear Art.

After a while, he entered a third cavity.

Then a fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh...

Time passed like this.

A week became two, and two became four.

A month went by without even realizing.

Anon sat in the dark space of the third layer.

Unknowingly, his hair had grown a little, and the aura that encompassed him had changed ever so slightly.

Rather than a refined and noble son of a royal bloodline, there were discernable traces of ferociousness seemingly hidden behind a veil of false imaging.

Anon’s brows were noticeably thicker and sharper than before. He appeared slightly more intimidating, almost as if he hadn’t smiled in years.

As he opened his eyes, the world around him seemed to transform.

Behind him, the image of ninety-nine demons crawling and growling could be seen. His radiant sun like eyes were holy, contrasting with the hellish illusions behind him.

By his side, the cloud severing spear materialized, and as he grabbed hold of it, he casually swung the spear in the air before him.

This casual swing caused space to fold and shatter in front of him as the spear soul left a bloody mark across space, preventing the space from fully healing.

Anon smiled.

’My level of mastery over the Deity Transformation Spear Art has... No, my mastery of the spear itself is so high that the Deity Transformation Spear Art has surpassed the first top-tier technique I learned from Seth.’

’This spear art is at least tens of times more powerful than the initial Blood Deity Staff Art I learned from the memory fragment.’ Anon assessed in silence.

If the technique he learned from Seth was labeled as a top-tier technique, then the Deity Transformation Spear Art, in Anon’s eyes, was on the level of an Apex-tier technique.

His mastery over the spear had underwent a qualitive leap over the past month, solely due to his soul and will both evolving to new heights.

’The third layer has benefited me less and less over the past week or so. I’ve only been farming memory fragments in this time, using them to learn more about this Lost Land and the natives, along with developing my techniques.’

Anon’s face was expressionless, however his eyes showed a sharp light as he thought.

’I can confirm that after these natives die and transform into wraiths, a strange power affects their memories, preventing me from directly learning about the new world order and this Lost Land. I mostly get that disgusting wave of reverence or fear towards their god.’

’It also seems that the Blood Deity Staff Art is universally known to all these natives. Thinking over it, its quite scary. In this place, one is more likely to stumble across someone who knows a top-tier technique, rather than someone who does not?’ Anon sighed.

According to Seth’s words, top-tier techniques were commonly mastered by third worlders. Anon was an exception, however exceptions were rare.

Yet many of the wraiths knew this top-tier technique when they were alive.

Was it to say that these were all once living third worlders?

Since when were third worlders so in fashion?

Or was it that in these Lost Lands, the humans here had a higher comprehension rate than the geniuses in the six cities?

’That seems more likely.’ Anon firmly believed the latter.

Mastering top-tier techniques, to the current him, wasn’t particularly impressive. He completely believed that, as second worlders, these natives could do it too.

With so many opportunities to improve one’s comprehension residing in the Lost Land, why would it be impossible to fathom?

Only the uselessly arrogant and haughty ’geniuses’ from the six cities would refuse to believe it.

Even if others didn’t directly devour remnant souls and wraiths to improve their comprehension, in such a dangerous place, constantly at the edge of life-and-death, unearthing one’s innate potential...

Anon did not feel the slightest apprehension towards the idea of geniuses.

After all, he hadn’t spent much time here, but had already utilized a top-tier technique as a foundation to create his own Apex-tier technique.

As a second world stellar fighter, he created an Apex-tier technique!

This also hinted that in the past month or so, his mastery over the spear had surpassed pseudo true mastery. If one asked him to wield a branch to kill a second worlder, with spear soul to augment the branch, Anon would not find it challenging!

If the geniuses of the six cities were labeled as such, and the natives of this land were labeled as geniuses amongst geniuses, then it was safe to say that Anon was naturally a league or two higher, in a league of his own.

He continued to think deeply...

’Only one wraith seemed to even know of a better technique, however he had little mastery over it, so whether it was simply a better top-tier techniques, or an apex-tier technique, I know not. And the core memory made it rather difficult to deduce the technique itself.’ Anon pondered in silence for a time, and then a light of understanding flashed in the depths of his eyes.

’Ah, the only difference between the rest, and this wraith’s living self was its strength. It must be the determining factor in deciding the level of techniques one learns in this place. The more powerful would naturally need stronger techniques...’ Anon thought this and looked down.

’To acquire higher level techniques, maybe only the creatures in the fourth layer will be useful now.’ As he thought this, his heart thumped faster.

Over this past month, he had unconsciously come to the realization that the acquisition of foreign memories and knowledge was rather exhilarating.

’Forcefully absorbing the memories and lifelong experiences of others. Using their understanding and hard work as a foundation for myself. Increasing my comprehension ability, and overall martial talent with their reluctant assistance.’

Anon smirked, ’The overall act of devouring and absorbing... It’s almost addicting!’

In the depths of his radiant eyes, madness slowly churned.

With a cold smile, he slowly descended the invisible stairs in the empty dark, entering the fourth layer of the mind swallowing abyss.

Behind his figure, illusory demons crawled out of hell, creating chaos in the worldly life. Amidst this chaos, his figure disappeared as he pierced into the fourth layer of the mind swallowing abyss.

.....

The fourth layer of the mind swallowing abyss.

The space here was so dark that there were traces of a deep purple aura releasing palpations in the environment.

Upon stepping into this foreign realm, Anon faintly heard the whispers of the dead containing an invisible, untraceable, yet undeniable power that momentarily left him in a trance.

Hmm?

’I reckon that, this kind of environment’s nurturing ability of remnant souls and wraiths is nourishing enough to amplify their strength at least tens of times. It’s possible that, if I had come here right after devouring the first wraith in the second layer, I might have lost my mind.’ Anon sighed.

Initially, he thought that his mental state wouldn’t be under threat, not until, maybe the final layer.

However, much less the fifth layer, it seemed that he had greatly underestimated the fourth too.

Anon sighed and shook his head before gently taking a seat in the empty darkness of the fourth layer, assuming a meditative posture.

There was no helping it.

He couldn’t just devour the environment, so he had no choice but to slowly meditate in this area and acclimatize his mind to this space.

Although it was slow, it was another way to hone his mind.

In fact, this could be considered to be the common method used by ordinary individuals.
