Chapter 699 - Wedding in a Small Village

Han Wu extracted six slivers of power belonging to the Magic Civilization from the three magic wands and three magic brooms.

From the wands came three spells: Mors Instantia, a curse of instant death; Arma Expellio, the spell that disarmed weapons; and Suspendo, a spell that levitated objects. Meanwhile, from the brooms came Flight Speed, Accelerate, and Extra Capacity.

Han Wu infused the powers into his Divine Weapons based on suitability.

The Small Locust Blade was given Mors Instantia, Flight Speed, Extra Capacity, and Accelerate. Mors Instantia granted it a 1% chance of instantly killing its target, Flight Speed allowed it to fly faster, Extra Capacity increased the impact of its blows, and Accelerate gave it instantaneous bursts of speed to catch its targets off guard.

The other two powers were given to his Explosive Locust Blade. With Arma Expello, the explosion it caused would disarm one of the Divine Weapons of its target. Suspendo gave Han Wu the control he needed in case he missed his target. It also allowed him to recall the blade and manually detonate it on its return.

With that done, Han Wu checked the Armament Spirit. Within it crouched a tiger that yearned for freedom. Unfortunately, neither the Small Locust Blade nor the Explosive Locust Blade was a fitting vessel for it.

Luckily, Han Wu also had the Locust Soul Orb. The two were compatible, and they merged seamlessly. A tiger composed of ghostly fire manifested before him. It looked intimidating, but it bowed to Han Wu in a show of loyalty. In response, Han Wu requested it to demonstrate its power.

The tiger swiped its claws and tore through a table made of solid wood with ease. Ghostly embers also ignited the debris that remained. Han Wu nodded with satisfaction. The tiger was stronger than Zhang Mazi. He had gained another powerful follower.

After calming himself down from the thrill of the upgrades, he ordered it back into the form of the Locust Soul Orb. He then used the Spiritual Energy within the orb to continue his cultivation of the Black Mountain Scripture.

Having become more proficient with the scripture, he could already tell that his ten Divine Essence avatar was becoming stronger, by roughly 10% to be exact.

The Black Mountain Scripture was truly fascinating. A mere two days of cultivation had granted him such an increase in power. Meanwhile, the old man had cultivated it for years and had still been so weak.

Am I a cultivation genius? Han Wu wondered smugly to himself.

In reality, Han Wu was overestimating himself. The reason for his fast cultivation could be attributed to the Locust Soul Orb, which could not only absorb Spiritual Energy but also refine it. In other words, he was essentially absorbing pure Spiritual Energy. It was a given that his cultivation would rise swiftly.

Han Wu quietly cultivated for the night. The next day, his body seemed stronger, and his spirit was well rested.

Having stayed in Qixia Town for two days, he wanted to leave for Divine Weapon City as soon as possible. Before he left, he gave the Divine Weapons that he couldn’t use to a grateful Guan Nan.

As a local, Guan Nan was naturally aware of the distance between their town and Divine Weapon City, so he made sure to provide Han Wu with many provisions and a horse. Han Wu happily accepted them.

The two brothers of the Guan family sent Han Wu off with a discomforting unease at the pit of their stomachs.

“Big brother, now that he’s left, what do we do if the Profound Netherworld Cult comes knocking on our door?” asked Guan Feng.

Guan Nan was similarly anxious. “We can’t stay here after what happened last time. Let’s bring our family away from Qixia Town and head for another town or city. With our talent, I don’t think it’ll be an issue for us to survive, though we probably won’t be rich anymore.”

“I’m more than willing to follow your lead, but where should we go?”

Guan Nan already thought of a place. “To the town of my father-in-law, Wushuang City.”

Han Wu followed the directions on the map that Guan Nan had given him. Despite riding for an entire day, he still failed to reach the next big settlement before the sun set.

With night falling, he decided to find a place to spend the night. He checked his map and was surprised to find that there was actually a small village nearby, so he switched destinations and headed there instead.

The village was easy to spot because of how brightly lit it was. Colorful lights and lanterns dotted the streets like a festival. Han Wu urged the horse into a gallop and soon reached the village.

The sounds of festive cymbals and gongs filled the air with a sense of liveliness. Dismounting from the horse, Han Wu made to enter the village when the horse suddenly gained the temperament of a donkey. No matter how hard he urged or pulled it, it refused to enter.

Han Wu eventually relented and tied the horse to a tree outside the village before entering alone. Children wore masks as they ran around and played. Life appeared to be vibrant and happening in this village.

Smiling, Han Wu continued down the path until he found a brightly lit estate. The sound of instruments and firecrackers echoed from within. Two servants stood at the entrance, greeting the guests.

“Lady Hu Shiliu, welcome!”

“Sir Liu Baiyan! Your arrival is a blessing indeed.”

“Gu Yuanwai. You’re finally here! Please, come in.”

Guest after guest was welcomed into the estate.

Han Wu approached one of the servants. “Is there a wedding here?”

The two servants checked him out and grinned ominously. “Our Master Huang Si is marrying his eighteenth wife. Dear guest, it seems fate has brought you here on this auspicious day. Would you care to come in and have a toast?”

“It seems that I’ll have to trouble you two for this.” Han Wu flashed a warm smile.

The two servants beamed back at him before showing him the way. They took small steps but moved fast. They soon arrived at the grand hall.

“Esteemed guest, please rest here for a moment. We will have to excuse ourselves to welcome the other guests.” Bowing slightly, the two servants left.

Han Wu sat down. The table before him had a jug of wine, two appetizers, and a plate of roasted chicken. There were many guests in the hall with him as well. Some had even glanced his way as he had entered.

The lady named Hu Shiliu even winked and sent him flying kisses. Grinning, Han Wu raised his wine glass in return. Hu Shiliu happily draped herself over the table, clearly dying to dart over to Han Wu’s side.

Her actions drew the ire of Liu Baiyan beside her. “Lady Hu Shiliu, cease those vulgar actions at once. This is Master Huang’s territory.”

His words did little to deter Hu Shiliu as she purposely lifted her skirt slightly to reveal her long, white legs to Han Wu. Liu Baiyan scoffed but said nothing else.

Han Wu was about to flaunt his charm and converse with the other guests around him when a gong sounded.

“Master Huang has arrived!”
