Chapter 153: The land under the skies

The metaphorical saying, there’s always a sky above a sky, was to be taken at face value in the Lost Land. Beyond the sky, the drifting rock territory resided with a sea of clouds as its foundation.

Under the heavy sea of clouds, the lands stretched far and wide, as far as the eye could see. Seemingly expanding infinitely, the sight was unlike anything before the great rebirth!

However, like a hive filled with countless holes, the land below was riddled with an innumerable amount of abysses. The number of these abysses was equally as vast as the landscape itself, simply too many to count.

The winds stirred.

Suddenly, two unrecognizable blurs shot out of the sea of clouds above.

Once appearing in the ’new’ world, the two blurs came to an abrupt halt.

Two figures stood high in the skies, both of their gazes were unique to themselves. One being utterly aloof and detached, and the other burned with an overwhelming intensity!

Seth’s hands were clasped behind his back, his chest puffed up and proud, and his face emotionless and indifferent. The air around him grew still upon coming in contact with his aura, almost as if afraid to be noticed.

Next to him was a swarthy-skinned young man, 193cm tall. One hand rested on his waist, and another hanged loosely at his side. The atmosphere around his body seemed to be strangled by an invisible power, twisting and wringing tightly.

Anon’s gold eyes appeared like two suns as he observed the earth beneath him with a playful smile tugging at his lips.

This smile...

It was one of confidence.

Indeed, the short white beast man, followed by Seth’s transformation, these two events were big blows to his psyche at the time.

However, with the evolution of his body, if he remained apprehensive and frightened, then with such a willpower, he’d have no chance of reaching the end of his path!

"What now?" Seth’s voice entered his ears causing him to raise an eyebrow.

"The spirit enters the third world, but the mind falls to the first?" Anon teased, "Obviously, we explore and grow even more powerful."

Tsk...

Seth shook his head.

A sharp glow flashed through his blood-colored eyes as he clenched his jaw from a trace of anger that passed through his mind.

Breathing out, he glanced at Anon and then pointed at the land littered with holes below, "Don’t you know what those are? With your damaged spirit, aren’t you even more susceptible to the creatures within?"

"The mind swallowing abyss." Anon smiled with amusement.

His voice then reverberated in the air clearly, "Within are remnant souls, demonic wraiths, and even more vile and fantastical creatures inherently talented at attacking the mind. With a weak spirit, it is easy to fall into a state of madness."

"So you know this, and yet-" Before Seth could continue, Anon simply rose his hand to signal for him to stop speaking.

Seeing this, Seth shook his head once again.

’Is this the arrogance of destiny’s chosen? Tsk, even with three hundred lives, how would you fools survive without the workings of destiny and fate practically being at your beck and call?’ Seth thought inwardly, however his face remained indifferent.

"You’re thinking bad of me aren’t you?" Anon chuckled lightly.

Of course he knew that a weak spirit was only asking for trouble in the mind swallowing abyss, but the key here was the term mind...

What constituted the mind?

At the end of the day, what made up an existence wasn’t simply the spirit but the spirit, body, and soul.

In this current scenario, the body was practically useless, but it didn’t mean that he was doomed if he entered the mind swallowing abyss.

’With a powerful spirit, Seth will simply wield magical properties to resist the remnant souls and wraiths, however there is another way. In fact, this way is much more beneficial.’ Anon mused inwardly.

’Ever since Blood-Drip Jungle, I made it my goal to expand my knowledge. Though I may not be the most knowledgeable with the workings of the lost land, but I am no slouch.’

’Most of the books appeared to be picking up dust in the academy’s library, but I still brushed off the dust and absorbed the contents within.’ His eyes appeared to smile.

The knowledge of the lost land were practically useless to students.

After all, how many would be attacked by a teacher and also happen to have an arcane-grade treasure capable of void travel?

However it now paid off greatly.

’Forcefully resisting the remnant souls, with a certain level of magic power, is risk free, but I can’t do that with my spirit.’

’The spirit contains thoughts which orders the body, however thoughts are fueled by willpower which originates from the soul. The soul is the foundation, fueling the spirit which powers the body. My spirit is damaged, but my soul is perfectly fine.’

’If my soul was injured, it’d mean directly damaging my willpower, and with a lack of will, generating thoughts becomes impossibly difficult. Maybe I wouldn’t be physically dead, but the death of the mind is the truest form of death!’ Anon sighed.

Seth silently observed the strange faces Anon made. It caused his eyes to light up as his thoughts swirled.

He couldn’t help but frown.

"Anon, tell me. What gives you the confidence to enter the mind swallowing abyss?" Seth felt a strangeness well up in his heart.

Hearing this, Anon’s grin widened as his right index finger slowly pressed at his chest and pointed at his heart.

Seeing this, Seth suddenly clenched his jaw, his frown deepening into a scowl. A noticeable crack resounded in the air.

’This... Don’t tell me he knows?! Only fifth worlders at the universal limit should even begin to touch upon such secrets?’

’That cursed human lord is playing about again!’ Seth roared inwardly...

The anger in his eyes was so palpable that it even caught Anon by surprise.

"Wh-" Before Anon could even ask what the issue was, Seth had already burst forth with speed, tearing through the air as he descended onto the world beneath.

Seeing this, Anon stretched his hand toward the earth below, suddenly grasping at the empty air.

Then, he stepped forward...

As he pulled at the air, it was as if space itself propelled him towards Seth’s descending figure.

With a footstep, Anon easily crossed a mile!

’What is the matter with Seth?’ Anon sighed inwardly, amused and apprehensive at the same time.

However, the sensation of his current control over his surroundings filled him with pleasure. It was all thanks to the unbridled strength of the third world.

’It’s the second time and I still can’t believe it. With such strength, if only beast generals had a little more intelligence and control over their bodies, they’d be much more scary.’ Anon mused silently.

No matter how powerful, a nuke in the hands of an infant wasn’t as dangerous as compared to it being in the hands of an adult.

The same concept applied here.

Beasts in general weren’t gifted intellectually.

And due to their beastly instincts, their control over their bodies weren’t the slightest bit refined.

On the other hand, upon physically entering the third world, Anon had instantly grasped mastery over his body.

Though nowhere near the level of mastery over the spear which was already at a pseudo true mastery stage, his body mastery was still comparable to Bolan.

At that time, Bolan could even survive with a missing heart. Mastery over the body was akin to a living zombie.

And yet, this was only the regenerative aspect.

When he grasped at the air, Anon could feel invisible ripples which he pulled at. Even though he didn’t have a space-related principle, even the short white beast man could manipulate space due to the power of its body.

After consuming such a heart, even though Anon’s body wasn’t at that realm of power just yet, his mastery over his body allowed him to unearth more power than what the beast general would be capable of showcasing with the same power level.

Space also bent to his will!

The earth beneath was utterly black, almost appearing charred. There were numerous mind swallowing abysses, each being tens of miles apart.

However, at the third world, ten miles and a hundred miles were a matter of five or six steps!

Seth landed first.

Though he appeared as if he was observing his surroundings, he was actually deep in thoughts.

’No need. There was simply no need! Anon is the destined child, so there was no need to reveal that knowledge this early. What is he trying to do?!’ Seth groaned inwardly.

’Before laws become irrelevant, there’s no need to give him such information. What if he deciphers the truth? No, with the laws working in his favor, and now with this knowledge, it’s only a matter of time isn’t it?! Damn it...!’

’Things would’ve been much easier in the final battle! The human lord, the supreme commander... I thought you also desired, ’It’?’ Seth’s thoughts spun rapidly.

In his mind were tens and hundreds of thoughts that appeared almost simultaneously.

Then, a light shone in his eyes, ’Unless?!’

Seth frowned deeply as Anon landed before him.

The latter had a strange expression as he asked, "Is something the matter, Seth?"
