Chapter 152: Differing paths, same world

The short white beast man discerned the disappointment festering in Seth’s eyes, abruptly causing it to burst forth with rage.

A human daring to look down on it like that?

A human that it had toyed with only recently?

The beast general shot into the sky.

From its back, three more pairs of wings burst forth as its dozens of arms cracked and twisted, growing in size and stretching out strangely.

As they approached Seth’s figure, these arms carried such an unprecedented force that it twisted light, causing the surrounding hundreds of meters to turn dark and for a buzzing noise to reverberate and shake the earth.

The atmosphere trembled under its might as splinters and cracks appeared in the atmosphere, like spiderwebs.

"The third world is akin to a barrier separating mortals and beings wielding power beyond mortal comprehension." Seth’s calm and indifferent voice rung out.

His face was beautiful, and his eyes were as calm as a lake.

His lips were tugged slightly upwards as he spoke.

Though the beast general’s attack approached him, time seemed to stretched indefinitely, preventing the beast’s attacks from reaching Seth.

So when he spoke, his words entered the beast’s mind, and Anon’s ears, and spread throughout all corners of the drifting rock before the beast could reach him!

"Even then, there’s a great disparity between beings in the third world. And this disparity goes beyond how many tasks one can complete simultaneously." Seth’s crimson eyes shimmered resplendently as he said this.

Thereafter, a sharp buzzing sound resounded and a single blood particle, unseen by the mortal eye, gleamed faintly as a single spark of stellar cosmic energy suddenly fueled a transformation.

Evolving from a singular blood particle, it transformed into a drop of blood that buzzed with endless might.

Inside that drop of blood seemed to contain an entire world as it slowly approached the incoming beast general, pressing heavily against the beast’s chest.

Boom!

A single drop of blood, weighing a thousand mountains!

The beast general’s previous momentum was utterly obliterated and it was struck back down to the earth, shattering the ground and forming a massive crater spanning almost a hundred meters.

The entire drifting rock shook under such might.

"Within that droplet is an ocean of blood." Seth said without emotion.

His hands were still clasped behind his back as he descended from the sky, condescendingly looking down at the beast general whilst its body released bone-shattering noises.

"As I was saying, this disparity is created by one’s foundation. And this foundation is forged from one’s understanding of their principle when they were in the second world. Finally, this understanding is actually in the form of abilities that one can utilize when they were in the second world." Seth’s figure was just above the beast as he finished his words.

Planting his feet on the beast’s chest and face respectively, he continued, "Evidently, as a third worlder, after experiencing the world’s baptizing, one’s comprehensive skills would evidently be much stronger than any second worlder. So a third worlder can utilize countless abilities, without limit, however, abilities has much more meaning for second worlders."

One of his arms was folded whilst the other rested on his folded arm as he rubbed his chin seemingly in thought.

His words, spoken in a calm voice, continued to travel across the terrain of the drifting rock, piercing into the beast’s mind and entering Anon’s ears.

"This means, the more abilities one creates as a second worlder, the stronger this foundation is, creating endless possibilities when one enters the third world. One can think of it as, one’s principle is in and of itself, a sentient being. It allows those with affinity for it to wield its power, but it is continuously assessing the myriad individuals of creation for a suitable chosen candidate."

Until now, Anon could not raise his head. He gritted his teeth but had no strength to resist whilst that voice reverberated throughout.

It was a voice that was neither overbearing nor submissive. Containing an almost ethereal tone, Seth spoke in a manner that gave off a phantasmal feeling, as if he was in control of all things, as if he saw through the myriad illusions of the world, standing above all things.

"In essence, the number of abilities becomes meaningless once one enters the third world, because one’s level is above such, but as a second worlder, the more abilities one cultivates, the more one can prove themselves to the principle, gaining the principle’s blessing." Seth said this and pointed at the cinnabar mark on his glabella.

Looking down at the beast general, Seth released a mocking smile, "I may be within the first layer of the third world, but do not compare me to these mortals. The disparity between me and you, is similar to the distance between an ant walking along the roots of a tree embedded in the dirt of a nameless forest on earth, and a celestial star residing at the very edge of the cosmos!"

As his foot pressed down on the beast general’s face, its bones shattered under his boot.

The beast’s blood began circulating in reverse, causing irreversible damage whilst it seeped out of its pores. Within its body, its blood grew more and more chaotic, tearing apart its internal organs and crushing its flesh!

It was one of the most painful deaths, causing the beast general, a creature filled with primal bloodthirst, to groan in pain.

A single, warm teardrop trickled down its cheek.

This tear was dark red in color, and with it, its bloodshot eyes lost any luster of life whatsoever.

.....

Time wielded both the power of destruction and creation.

Currently, it became restoration and healing.

Even the destroyed drifting rock, with time, returned to its previous state.

The beast general became the drifting rock’s source of nurturing, its flesh and blood containing immense amounts of energy.

Such energy could indeed be used by Seth with the help of extraordinary means, but things that sounded too good to be true naturally had a hefty price.

Seth stood in silence, above a certain figure that was seated in a lotus position.

Anon had long ago devoured the short white beast man’s heart, something that Seth had made a small effort not to damage when he was slaying it.

Inevitably, when the gap was large, controlled killing became possible. And certainly, such was the gap between the beast general and Anon.

"For me to take so long to enter the third world, it’s obvious that, this one’s father must’ve interfered with my spirit at some point. As for what allowed that act to go undetected by my true consciousness, it must be the magic rituals I previously did, hampering the bridge of connection!"

Inherently, a magic ritual was cheating the system of cultivation, going against order. It affected the consciousness subtly, and even he had suffered unknowingly.

It was why he helped Anon complete a magic ritual at the time.

Since then, Anon didn’t even realize the slight growth in bloodthirst, reflective through his eye color which had grown a darker shade...

Seth mused to himself, shaking his head as he looked back at the past.

His hands were clasped behind his back, and his hair had grown longer, reaching his shoulder blades. The ends of his hair had unknowingly become blood red in color.

Hmm?

Seth’s focused his gaze on Anon, separating himself from his own thoughts.

The latter was in pain.

Obvious from his expression, in fact, one could say that he was squirming in pain, and yet, not the slightest sound escaped Anon’s lips.

Hot air escaped Anon’s pores, causing the temperature to suddenly spike. His skin slowly turned red before appearing to melt off of his flesh and bones.

As his skin melt, new skin swiftly regenerated.

This newly regenerated skin also melted, before new skin regenerated again. This process continued for a while.

By the time it came to a halt, a pool of blood formed under Anon’s sitting figure.

His body trembled slightly, and the hair on his head fell off. Each strand of the hair on his eyebrows followed suit.

In no time, it appeared that Anon was suffering from the most extreme case of alopecia.

However, soon growing from his head was a new set of hair. Each strand was longer than before, and glistened under light.

A single strand was more robust than any kind of wire could ever be!

His black hair was darker than ink, reaching just beneath his neck, and his brows were thick and sharp. His eyes shone with a wonderous golden color, brighter than ever before.

The demonic light in the depths of his eyes were nowhere to be seen, and was instead replaced by an endless sensation of might and determination.

As if capable of seeing through all illusions and spilling light to all corners of the world, these golden orbs spun with inconceivable divinity, turning toward Seth not far away.

Anon rose to his feet and stepped toward Seth.

On his first step, the clothes on his body fell apart as if it had rotted. On his second step, space seemed to propel him forward as he directly crossed over a dozen meters, appearing right before Seth, completely exposed.

Upon entering the third world, Seth had grown taller. Standing at 185cm, he was noticeably taller than his previous self, and could look down at Anon.

At least, previously.

It would’ve definitely been the case hadn’t Anon underwent a similar transformation of worlds.

Though his spirit had not entered the third world, his fleshy form truly breached this boundary.

As the base level of the flesh was usually much weaker than the spirit, Anon, whose flesh was stronger than the spirit, could be more accurately described as a beast general rather than a third world stellar fighter.

However, that was besides the point.

As one of his aspects breached into the third world, Anon’s physical appearance had underwent a great many changes.

Possibly due to being a ’beast general’ rather than having a spirit in the third world, Anon’s physical changes were more extraordinary.

If Seth could be described as an aloof immortal that observed the mortal world from an otherworldly position, then Anon’s aura was overwhelming and his physique was mighty, and almost awe-inspiring.

His body was shredded, and his muscles were unbelievably compact. His almost malnourished appearance from before had completely disappeared.

The swarthy-skinned youth stood, looking down on Seth, as his tender lips curled upwards.

"Why don’t you help me? After all, my spirit is kind of broken." Anon’s voice was noticeably more powerful, as if demanding attention.

His words seemed to contain an attractive pull, drawing one’s attention towards him.

Tsk, tsk, tsk...

"There was no need for me to see ’all’ of you." Though Seth said this almost scoldingly, his expression betrayed his mannerism of speech.

He did not shy away from observing ’everything’, and only after a while did a demonic pattern shine in his eyes, causing a demonic aura to encompass Anon.

Before long, Anon was clad in a dark, layered outfit that was draped over by a long black coat with a hood and a dramatic red interior, adding contrast.

Now properly dressed, Anon smirked and pointed toward a higher drifting rock, "Do you wish to take a peek at what’s there?"

Seth was not in the least bit amused, replying plainly, "Go by yourself. Your father will retrieve your corpse."

The duo bickered a little before approaching the edge of the drifting rock.

As for their journey toward the true sky of the drifting rock terrain...

Sadly, it could not be completed!
