Myriad Devils-Chapter 148: The essence of being toyed around
A nauseating bloody stench permeated the air. Seth’s figure was illusory, countless false bodies had manifested across the drifting rock’s landscape.
He confronted the short white beast man from the moment it made its transformation, and the two had been in a stalemate for some time now.
But as the battle continued, Seth’s face darkened more and more. He was already in a critical state before the second battle against the short white beast man had commenced.
Though he had many wounds across his body, such physical wounds were only superficial. But what truly hampered him was the weakness of his spirit.
Currently, Seth was extremely drained.
At this moment, there was a blur that brushed past. Anon worked alongside Seth as the duo battled against the short white beast man without saying a word to each other.
After such a long time, these two geniuses worked in unison.
Whilst Anon focused on physical attacks, reliant on a Top-tier battle technique, Seth used the mystical power of his blood principle to assist Anon and sneak attack the short white beast man.
"Anon, I’ll need your assistance now." Seth said plainly.
The earth trembled violently as stellar cosmic energies churned in the area. The properties of the blood principle were drawn together as an indomitable blood wall sprouted from the earth.
The blood wall rushed upwards with extraordinary speed, quickly reaching high into the sky. It was thick and the principles of blood palpated with extraordinary power.
It easily separated the stellar geniuses and the short white beast man.
The battle came to an abrupt pause.
When Anon saw this, he arrived at a sudden realization. He frowned and asked Seth, "So your spirit is exhausted but you still refuse to utilize battle techniques?"
Now that Seth’s spirit was exhausted, he simply could not showcase the same power that he did in the beginning of this battle.
At the same time, he couldn’t even utilize his demonic nature, nor utilize two principles simultaneously.
But this did not mean that he couldn’t use battle techniques to confront the beast general. After all, using battle techniques had very little relevance to the strength of the spirit.
Although Seth claimed to have mastered the staff beyond true mastery, he was yet to reveal anything that backed such bold claims.
Against the short white beast man, if Seth was to reveal just true mastery of the staff, and utilize an Apex-tier staff technique, the entire scope of the battle would be altered.
However, Seth easily saw through Anon’s intentions.
He shook his head and said plainly, "Just as how this spirit limits the strength of my magical attacks, this body would also limit the strength I can display with an Apex-tier battle technique. More importantly, battle techniques are less flexible than magical attacks. In this situation, we can only achieve success if I’m able to showcase the greatest extent of my magical abilities."
At the same time, the blood wall that stretched high into the sky began releasing violent quakes. Spiderwebbed cracks rapidly ran across the wall. Muffled explosions resounded out as the short white beast man assaulted the wall relentlessly.
Seth pointed at the shattering blood wall before saying to Anon, "Now, hurry and help me heal my spirit."
Naturally, Anon could not help the latter heal his spirit, but Anon had the means to. He moved quickly and willed for the longevity healing gourd to appear.
Grabbing the gourd, he then waved his hand and threw the space ring towards Seth. Smiling, Seth plucked it out of the air before assuming a meditative posture.
His gaze landed on Anon and he said with a strange tone, "Everything is dependent on you now. I wish you good luck."
With a violent sound, the wall trembled for a final time before exploding into shimmering crimson particles that permeated the air.
The short white beast man had a strange expression far in the distance. It stared at the two humans with visible amusement in its eyes.
Seth had assumed a meditative posture and his eyes were closed. He did not appear to be worried whatsoever. He had a black ring on his finger, but he had already acquired what he desired.
He was completely focused on swiftly absorbing the effects of the azure plum in order to quicken the recovery of his spirit.
Anon’s mood wasn’t great as he took a step toward the beast man and blocked off its path to Seth.
Effectively, he was about to face a mid-level beast general single-handedly!
Toward such a scenario, Anon wasn’t the least bit jubilant. The initial excitement he had toward the idea of battling had long been eradicated.
He wasn’t an idiot. At the time, it was four low-level beast generals. On top of that, Seth had been standing alongside him, raising his confidence.
Currently, it was a mid-level beast general.
Compared to four low-level beast generals, it was obvious which one was more frightening.
And this time, Seth’s spirit had been exhausted to the point of being injured. Instead of standing alongside Anon, he was now sitting in meditative behind him.
Anon clicked his tongue in annoyance. Murderous intent spilt out of his dark gold orbs as the earth beneath his feet cracked and shattered forcefully.
The distance between him and the short white beast man spanned hundreds of meters, but when they both locked eyes, this space rapidly shrunk.
Around his eyes and the rest of his body, veins bulged under his skin. His blood immediately grew heated as he wielded his spear with exquisite ability.
Top-Tier Spear Technique- Breathless Suppression!
Immediately, Anon released a barrage of attacks with his spear, catching the short white beast man by surprise. For a moment, he actually overwhelmed the beast general.
His speed had shot through the roof, and his movement became unpredictable.
Though the short white beast man did not sense much strength from his attacks, when they landed, it caused the beast’s expression to change.
They carried much more force than it expected.
Anon groaned in discomfort as he continued the barrage, but even after overwhelming the short white beast man, he did not appear the slightest bit pleased.
Even though he had grasped the initial advantage, he was at most, able to create superficial wounds across the beast’s body.
And as time passed, the short white beast man grew accustomed to Anon’s unusual technique.
Before long, Anon was the one who was on the backfoot. Although his battle art was designed with great attacking intent, he had no choice but to defend with his life on the line.
However, against a mid-level beast general, how long could he really last by himself?
The short white beast man made a move.
Its figure was obscure simply due to the speed it moved at. Circling Anon, its right arm slashed across Anon’s figure, but was met with a spear that guided it away from Anon.
The short white beast man actually cackled at this and struck out again. The winds churned as its attacks tore apart the air and crashed into Anon.
The latter desperately manipulated his spear whilst struggling to evade the beast’s attacks, however the beast didn’t let up.
A wide grin on its face, the beast moved like a blur, barely within the bounds of Anon’s perception, almost as if willingly allowing Anon to react, just barely.
Just then, the distance between Anon and the beast general shrank to half the size of an arms length. Instead of directly attacking, the beast’s jaws opened wide, revealing four rows of teeth.
Inside the creature’s mouth was like a dark hole, and besides four rows of teeth, there was nothing!
Hmm?
Anon immediately sensed something amiss and decisively decided to retreat.
However, before he could even begin distancing himself from the short white beast man, the creature spat out an arm that appeared before Anon too quickly.
It was simply too unexpected. Faster than his reactions, the creature’s arm shot out of its mouth and pierced Anon’s skull without any resistance.
Anon’s head exploded into dark gold particles as his body dispersed.
Seeing this, the beast general’s eyes shaped into crescents as the arm retracted into its mouth, disappearing from sight.
Grinning, it observed the surroundings, catching sight of Anon a distance away.
It did nothing as Anon took the longevity healing gourd from his waist and removed the cork, unhesitatingly gulping the healing properties within.
The effects were instant.
A pure aura filled with life essence escaped Anon’s pores and encompassed his worldly flesh, draping him in a green hue.
In the blink of an eye, he swiftly recovered from his injuries before hooking the gourd onto his waist again. The magical gourd easily locked in place, not moving.
Fully healed, Anon sighed to himself.
’Is it because of just how weak I am? That it can keep underestimating me to such an extent and allow me to fully recover?’ Thinking this, there was a strange smile on his face.
He did not know whether to laugh aloud, or cry in dismay.
However, he did not think of it for long. Once the short white beast man saw that Anon’s injuries had disappeared, its gaze quickly locked onto the gourd attached to his waist
The beast general growled as its bony wings spread out before flapping once. The force created a shockwave that quickly spread into the distance.
Anon had no time to blink.
The short white beast man had already appeared before him and struck out. Its claws dug into his flesh, causing his pupils to shrink to the size of needles.
His eyes almost popped out of their sockets as the beast general grabbed hold of him by sinking its claws deep into his flesh and lifted him into the air.
