Chapter 144: A worsening situation

As the sound of flowing water spilled far and wide, Seth twirled the staff in his hand with visible ease, using the staff to control the movements of the great body of blood that whizzed across the skies.

The blood river had completely immobilized the dark beast. Since it first came in contact with this river of blood, it had not gotten even a mustard seed’s worth of ease.

Not only that but the Blood River itself contained draining properties. As more time ticked away, the dark beast general could feel its strength actively being dispersed at a higher rate.

It was initially caught off-guard by the blood river’s sudden appearance, but at this point, it had practically lost all of its ability to resist Seth’s magical attack!

Yet, toward the dark beast’s adverse situation, Seth’s face did not reveal any visible pleasure.

Instead, his eyes were cold, and his gaze was sharp as he observed the figure that flew through the sky.

"Though just barely, to be able to evade my blood river... This white creature is fast indeed." Seth clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"Let me see what you’ll do now." Seth’s lips lifted slightly as he muttered this.

The twirling staff in his hand came to a halt, and the movements of the blood river in the sky noticeably slowed down.

Abruptly, the river of blood began crystalizing, and the dark beast that had found itself trapped within became visible from the outer world as it rapidly descended to the earth below.

What was most noticeable was the drastic transformation that this dark beast had undergone. Its daunting image had faded as its burly body had lost most of its previous vigor and became a husk of its former self.

At the same time, there was an innumerable amount of wounds covering its flesh, and one of its left arms was crippled.

It had weakened to such a degree that falling from its current height was certain death!

"Now, tell me, what are you going to do?" Seth’s frigid gaze landed on the white beast as he said with anticipation.

This beast was the first flying creature that the duo had crossed paths with in the drifting rock region.

If it did not rush toward the dark beast, the latter would face certain death, reducing the number of enemies to three and tipping the scales more toward Anon and Seth’s favor.

But if it did attempt saving the dark beast, Seth would easily predict its next course of action, rendering its impressive speed useless, allowing him to gain an advantage against it.

Seth’s smile steadily grew as the white beast paused its movements in the sky and turned toward the descending dark beast.

It did not move toward the injured beast general but instead tilted its head to the side and glanced toward Seth.

Their gazes met.

"Go on now. If you do not make a move, your comrade will explode into a bloody mess." Seth chuckled.

The white beast’s bony wings trembled faintly. Its figure was like an illusion as its body fragmented into innumerable shiny particles.

Immediately, Seth’s smile turned grim.

In his hand, the staff that had materialized out of his demonic nature drew an arc in the air in front of him. Thereafter, a deafening sound reverberated through the skies as two opposing colors filled the air.

The beastly creature’s white aura clashed against Seth’s dark crimson aura as they finally confronted each other in close quarters.

"Tch, you’re really ruthless huh!" Seth’s eyes smiled too as he wielded his staff with one hand, drawing strange patterns in the air with it.

The beast did not appear disturbed by his staff-wielding ability, and even though it could not block most of Seth’s attacks, Seth couldn’t deal it a great deal of damage either.

’Its speed is not ordinary, and its durability is strangely high too.’ Seth mused to himself, ’Interesting.’

Though these points made it more difficult for Seth to slay the white beast, inevitably, it was merely a low-level beast general. There was no doubt in his mind that, if he truly desired, he could end the battle almost instantly.

His staff technique was extraordinary.

Truthfully, as he struck out with the staff, the scenes on the earth below recorded a strikingly similar technique.

Seth’s staff and Anon’s spear moved unpredictably, and when they struck out toward their opponents, they made contact from unsuspecting angles.

Though Seth only utilized one hand to strike, the power contained in each strike was undoubtedly overbearing. At the same time, Anon’s strikes were more vicious and targeted the beast’s weaker points.

But just as Seth began to take control of the battle against the white beast, the sound of an explosion from the earth far beneath reached them.

With its severely depleted body as the reason, the dark beast exploded into a bloody mist as chunky pieces of flesh burst into the surroundings and splattered onto the ground.

The sound of its body contacting the earth caught the fighting duo of Anon and the blue beast by surprise. Upon seeing the dark beast’s state, the blue beast general released a desperate howl before angrily staring into the sky toward Seth.

Anon also glanced upward as his gaze met Seth’s. But they locked eyes for only a fleeting moment as the latter was quickly alerted by the movement of something that had remained unmoving throughout this ordeal.

Anon also retracted his gaze.

His spirit was not as strong as it used to be, but his hairs still stood on end as he was alerted by the incoming danger.

The green beast was large but not muscular like the dark beast. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Instead, it appeared quite oversized, or in other words, fatty. It moved on two legs that were noticeably smaller in proportion than the rest of its body, making its movements appear awkward.

Yet, it moved much faster than what one would expect.

In the blink of an eye, it had already halved the distance separating itself and Anon.

Seth saw this and grimaced.

These particular beast generals, though low-level, were stronger than the average low-level beast generals.

In a way, they could be considered pseudo-mid-level beast generals. And as he was currently, Anon could not face two pseudo-mid-level beast generals simultaneously.

But just as he was about to descend, the white beast suddenly changed its appearance.

Whilst attacking Seth with its claws, bone-popping sounds resounded in the surroundings as the size of its two arms exponentially increased.

When Seth’s staff blocked off one of its arms, his expression froze, and his staff immediately released strained cracks under the force.

He swiftly retracted his staff. Though the beast’s other arm approached Seth with endless power, he had moved even quicker.

Stellar cosmic energy churned in his surroundings as he opened his right hand and threw what appeared to be a droplet of blood that glistened beautifully on its way toward the beastly creature.

And so, whilst the battle with Seth and the white beast intensified, Anon quickly found himself in a situation that rapidly grew ever more hopeless.

Upon the revelation of the dark beast’s state, the green-skinned beast constantly roared toward the sky and lunged relentlessly toward Anon without care for itself.

Though Anon landed several strikes on the green-skinned beast, he swiftly realized where its strength laid.

At the same time, the blue-skinned creature ceased its direct confrontation with Anon, amplifying its threat several times.

’The dark beast’s body is completely obliterated. And its heart can not be devoured.’ It was only a fleeting thought that passed through his mind. But it still left him with a sour taste.

Currently, though, he had no time to care for such things.

’The dark one had incredible strength, the blue has extraordinary speed, and this green one is unbelievably sturdy.’ Anon coldly stared at the green beast general.

There were several occasions where Anon’s spear had pierced the green beast’s flesh, but at this moment, the creature assaulted Anon without fear and a body that did not show any injuries whatsoever.

Anon’s spear intercepted an incoming fist as large as his own torso, but as his focus locked onto the green creature’s attack, the blue beast’s claws approached from the shadows with an unstoppable momentum.

It moved through the air so quickly that it generated wind currents that spread far and wide, reaching the ends of the drifting rock.

The body of Anon’s spear trembled as if it were a sentient lifeform, fearing for the immediate future.

And rightfully so.

Though he desperately attempted to react and evade, as blood spilled into the near vicinity, Anon stumbled backward in shock.

In his mind, the world had gone blank.

His consciousness had escaped the bounds of his mind, and the entire world was spinning.

There was a series of sharp pains assaulting his face, but the pain wasn’t something that greatly disturbed him.

However the darkness had indeed induced a state of deep panic internally.

The scent of blood that wafted in the air had become so pungent that it made Anon nauseous.

The battle in the sky violently reverberated in his mind as every clash and every movement resounded louder than before.

The green beast’s movements were so obvious. As it drew closer to Anon, he could feel the trembling earth and hear the profound tremors echoing in the depths of the land.

The violent winds lashed against his skin.

His senses felt skewed.

At this moment, amid battle, Anon had lost his vision.

However, his ears perked up.

As the green beast general drew closer, though he could not see it, Anon could hear the faint whispers of guidance that the cloud-severing spear attempted to impart.

Its whispers were slowly growing louder.

And in this world of darkness, there was an almost elusive light flickering ever so much.

Though he lost his eyes, Anon was close to finally being able to see!
