Myriad Devils-Chapter 143: Four beast generals
Location: Lost Lands, Drifting Rocks Terrain.
The situation on the third rock had devolved into chaos. A dust storm had risen, sending shattered rocks and broken stones flying haphazardly.
In addition to the two black-haired geniuses, there were four strange humanoid figures of varying sizes that had beastly and terrifying auras.
One of the figures was towering and imposing.
It had three arms—two left arms proportional to its hulking body and a right arm that reached down to its ankle and was even thicker than Anon’s entire body.
The creature roared with tremendous might as it advanced toward the swarthy-skinned youth.
Anon twirled his staff skillfully as the winds churned chaotically around him. The beastly creature was multiple times his height, but Anon did not appear greatly disturbed by this.
The earth beneath Anon’s feet rumbled loudly as spiderwebbed cracks caused by the running beast’s momentum reached him.
But Anon did not falter in his footsteps and bent his knees slightly before suddenly accelerating towards the towering beast general!
As the two drew closer, Anon did not slow down but instead stomped his foot into the earth and increased his speed.
Glowing crimson particles began to surround him, similar to a cloak. Seth’s eyes glowed with a bright red light as he stretched his hand toward Anon’s direction and showed a half smile.
"Go on now." Seth muttered under his breath, "I’ll support your madness from the sidelines."
The distance between the two opposing forces might not have been small, but for their level of power, it was not large either.
Whilst Anon appeared before the first attacking beast, Seth perceived that it would be enough time for him to manifest his desired magical abilities.
Finally, the three-armed beast and Anon found themselves within striking distance of the other.
Its two left arms had been contracted back before exploding with brute force and pure speed, moving through the air and towards Anon with endless ferocity!
"Blood River!"
The pupils of the three-armed beast shrunk to the size of pins as Anon’s figure grew blurry whilst a blinding crimson light draped over his entire frame.
The sound of flowing water followed as a river of pure blood released a pungent scent into the surroundings and rushed upwards into the sky.
It quickly swallowed the three-armed beast’s form with it as Anon fearlessly shot out of the crimson veil that covered him and darted toward the three remaining monstrosities!
Stellar cosmic energies swarmed around Seth as his worldly form rocketed into the skies in pursuit of the three-armed beast general that resisted the blood river.
At the same time, one of the three beast generals situated a great distance away locked its eyes on Seth’s ascending figure.
This beastly creature was unique compared to the three-armed beast general and the other two beasts. Not only was it much shorter than the three other beast generals, but its skin was as white as snow and as smooth as silk.
Its face lacked usual facial features, only hosting a mouth with two rows of ragged teeth and a single black eye floating in the center.
Staring at Seth, it tilted its head to the side as its black eye glanced to its left, towards one beast general, and then to its right, towards the second beast general.
It took two steps back, and the two generals on either side then stepped two footsteps forward, blocking Anon from possibly reaching the white beast general.
The creature’s body trembled slightly as flesh began wriggling and twisting inhumanely.
Then, from its back, two bony white wings sprouted.
The distance between it and Seth disappeared almost instantly. With but one flap of its wings, the gust of wind that formed was capable of great destruction!
Seth grimaced as his subconsciousness warned him of impending danger!
But at this time, the confrontation between Anon and the two beast generals on the ground had commenced.
The white skin monstrosity was the most unique. But the first to attack had dark skin. On the other hand, the remaining two.
One was slender yet towering.
Amongst the four beasts, this blue-skinned monstrosity was the tallest, at least four times taller than the white beast. It had veiny lines running across its slender body, and its muscles protruded unnaturally.
It was the first to make a move.
Anon’s movements were extraordinary. His physical aspects had seen an exponential improvement, and his footwork, due to his mastery of a Top-Tier spear technique, was similarly sublime.
So, as his eyes took in the two beast generals before him, he knew that in but a short while, he would step into a battle of life and death.
The distance between him and them would disappear at a moment’s notice.
And yet, a moment had not come to pass when his eyelids grew wide, and his pupils shook violently.
For a fleeting period, an illusion affected Anon’s perception, making it appear akin to time coming to a stop.
In this frozen world, Anon still faced the beast general a distance away, maintaining a low center of gravity as he moved at high speeds, but there was a single problem.
He could not move!
The slender monstrosity with blue skin bent over this statue of Anon. It appeared to analyze the frozen Anon with great intrigue.
Its gaze was like a burning blue flame!
And then its hand, with five lengthy claws, contracted before approaching Anon’s figure.
Toward this threat, his dark gold eyes shone lustrously, and his Cloud Severing Spear whispered faintly.
Following this was the sound of two hard surfaces colliding. Anon’s spear drew a strange pattern in the air as it crossed paths with the creature’s claws and set it off course.
Anon had broken out of that illusory time stop!
His muscles twitched violently as the cloud-severing spear trembled with vigorous intent and rushed towards the blue-skinned beast general with great intensity.
Anon’s speed had seemingly skyrocketed out of nowhere as he fearlessly lunged toward the beastly creature.
In that instance, the monster stared at Anon’s actions with strange eyes that revealed intrigue. But this was but a fleeting moment. Its mouth opened wide, showcasing its two rows of jagged, yellow teeth.
The beast felt great amusement by Anon’s counter!
And to greet such intensity, it opened its arms wide apart as if to embrace the lunging Anon. Due to the difference in size, it was no different than a young child diving into their father’s embrace.
But as Anon entered its reach, the creature’s arms generated immense force that caused the surrounding environment to tremble. Then, with a deafening sound, it ruthlessly slammed its arms together!
Anon’s face darkened as he entered within striking distance of this mess, but he was not about to allow such a predictable attack to land on him.
He stomped his foot into the earth, bringing his steps to a complete halt. Then, with such efficiency that his movements appeared pleasing to the eye, he stepped back three times.
The earth beneath his feet crumbled under the force he exerted as he pushed against his previous momentum and stepped into the air.
Immediately after, he was already at eye level with the beast general.
Naturally, his spear was quick to launch towards the creature’s face.
As the sharp end of his spear met with the creature’s figure, there was very little resistance as Anon’s spear slashed straight across its face, almost as if there was nothing but air presently in front of Anon.
"Ah!"
Indeed.
His spear penetrated only a false body!
Anon’s eyes opened wide as his subconsciousness blasted awake, alerting him of the threat that originated from behind him.
Mid-air, Anon’s body twisted unnaturally as a set of claws burst through his flesh and caused blood to spill into the surroundings!
As his feet landed back on the ground, Anon swiftly retreated once again, desperately creating a far distance between himself and the beast general.
He clutched at the right side of his chest, but instead of any signs of pain, his eyes only showed traces of horror.
’Wow, wow, wow!’ Anon blurted inwardly. ’That was close, way too close!’ He groaned inwardly whilst locking onto the blue-skinned creature.
His spear drew an arc in front of him as the distance between the beast general and himself was severed to almost nothing immediately after he had just created it.
’Unbelievable!’ Anon screamed internally.
Moments after this confrontation began, he was already on the back foot.
’Is this truly a low-level beast general? Anon’s spear forged images of itself in the air as it clashed against the claws of the beast general.
’Although its strength is somewhat average, its speed...’ Anon assessed.
The beast’s speed was not slightly above his own, but immensely!
There difference was too noticeable.
If not for his mastery over the spear, then he would’ve long been overwhelmed.
Anon’s dark gold pupils flashed toward the corners of his eyes as he took in the creature far into the distance.
’Blue, dark, white, and green.’ Anon mused to himself.
The dark and white beasts were in the sky whilst the blue general assaulted him. Yet, the green beast had not made a move.
It only observed the battle between Anon and the blue general.
’The dark beast has immense strength, and this one has extraordinary speed. On the other hand, the white beast grew wings from its back and showcased speed noticeably above the dark beast, but not quite comparable to this blue one.’ Anon assessed inwardly.
Though he was battling the blue general, he still needed to split some of his attention toward the green beast.
Although he was yet to utilize the top-tier spear technique he had recently learned, it wasn’t that he did not wish to use it, but with the green-skinned creature some distance away, he couldn’t dare to place all of his focus on the current battle.
At the same time, Seth was in no position to focus on others!
